Biden Promises More Ukraine Aid After Christmas Attack

We’re just all marking time until Joe Biden leaves office at this point. Which is why there will be no repercussions for Russia’s latest attack on Ukraine on Christmas Day.

This particular attack was aimed at knocking out Ukraine’s power infrastructure – and some of those attacks were successful.

Ukraine’s air force said Russia fired 78 missiles of various types into the country, of which 59 were shot down. Russia also launched 106 strike drones, of which 54 were shot down and 52 were lost in flight, the air force added.

“The enemy attacks energy again massively,” Energy Minister German Galushchenko wrote in a statement posted to Facebook early Wednesday. Grid operators, he added, were implementing “necessary consumption restriction measures to minimize negative consequences for the energy system.”

When the security situation allows, “the power companies will specify the damage caused,” Galushchenko added. “Stay tuned for official announcements. While the danger lasts — stay in shelters!”

However, President Volodymyr Zelenksy seems to think that Christmas should be a day off from war. Apparently Russia didn’t get that memo, because, well, it’s war.

Zelenskyy said Russian President Vladimir Putin “deliberately chose Christmas for an attack. What could be more inhuman? More than 70 missiles, including ballistic ones, and more than a hundred strike drones. The targets are our energy sector. They continue to fight for a blackout in Ukraine.”

“According to preliminary data, our defenders managed to shoot down more than 50 missiles and a significant part of the drones,” Zelenskyy said. “Unfortunately, there are hits. As of now, there are outages in several regions. Energy workers are working to restore the power supply as soon as possible.”

Russia is likely trying to inflict as much damage as possible on Ukraine before Donald Trump takes office in just a little over three weeks. But even Trump’s chosen special envoy for Ukraine and Russia, retired Lt. General Keith Kellogg, condemned the attack.

It’s clear that this war will not end until Donald Trump is sitting the Oval Office, forcing both sides to come to the negotiating table. Joe Biden has to know (at least, as much as he can know anything at this point) that his foreign policy has been a failure across the board. His weakness abroad has left a vacuum of power that bad actors have rushed to fill, and the only thing Biden knows how to do is throw money at a problem (besides the money already spent in Ukraine, the idiotic Gaza pier comes to mind). Which is why all Biden – well, Jill and his staffers – can do at this point is put out a statement giving Putin a scolding, and then promise that the increased aid for Ukraine will keept flowing until he leaves office.

In the early hours of Christmas, Russia launched waves of missiles and drones against Ukrainian cities and critical energy infrastructure. The purpose of this outrageous attack was to cut off the Ukrainian people’s access to heat and electricity during winter and to jeopardize the safety of its grid. Let me be clear: the Ukrainian people deserve to live in peace and safety, and the United States and the international community must continue to stand with Ukraine until it triumphs over Russia’s aggression. In recent months, the United States has provided Ukraine with hundreds of air defense missiles, and more are on the way. I have directed the Department of Defense to continue its surge of weapons deliveries to Ukraine, and the United States will continue to work tirelessly to strengthen Ukraine’s position in its defense against Russian forces.

We’ve talked about the surge of weapons to Ukraine that Joe Biden (supposedly) authorized looking like an escalation that would make Donald Trump’s job more difficult after he takes office again. Can anyone really say that giving Ukraine these missiles has pushed the cause of de-escalation and peace in the region?

Now, I can fully acknowledge that Russia has been a bad actor for years, and using North Korean troops on the ground and this Christmas power grid attack are just the latest examples. Putin’s desire to return to a Soviet-style strongman dictatorship has never been more obvious. The question has always been how Putin should be handled. It’s pretty clear at this point that Joe Biden, President Pudding For Brains, has failed to meet the moment when it came to Putin, Russia, and Ukraine – as Barack Obama failed to deal with Russia before him. But rushing more weapons to Ukraine in the next three weeks isn’t going to get anyone closer to ending the war.

Again, Donald Trump can’t become president soon enough. It’s painfully obvious that Joe Biden is simply fading away from his job (while also doing whatever he wants on his way out), and that the only thing Trump lacks is the actual power to get things done. The moral authority of the presidency has already transferred to him. We’re all going to be much better off when this feckless, senile old dotard is no longer able to wield power, and his wife and his staff are evicted from the Oval Office.
