The “kinder, gentler”, Joe Biden made an appearance last night with Lester Holt of NBC News and it was flop of epic proportions.

Holt kicks off the interview with questioning Joe Biden about his conversation with Donald Trump post assassination attempt. After a few words of feigned concern about the former president, Joe Biden launched directly into January 6th and something about “how he wasn’t going to run again because his son died” and then on to the Charlottesville riots. Now, I know what you are thinking…

Huh?!

To which Holt asked the follow-up question:

Well, let’s talk about the conversation this has started and it is really about language-what we say out loud and the consequences of those-you called your opponent an existential threat on a call a week ago. You said, ‘its time to put Trump in the bullseye’, there’s some dispute about the context, but…”-Lester Holt, NBC News

..he didn’t say “cross hairs“, Lester. There is a YUGE difference in the vernacular. “There’s very little focus on Trump’s agenda,” said Joe Biden. Really? This man must be living under a rock because up until his debate disaster and Saturday’s assassination attempt, Trump’s agenda was seemingly all the left-leaning media could talk about. As Holt made the first attempt to elicit a response of compassion and introspection, Biden goes on about the 18, 28, 2,000 times infinity lies Trump told on the podium during their first presidential debate a few weeks ago. Holt attempts again:

Have you taken a step back and done a little soul-searching of things that you may have said, that could incite people who are not balanced?”-Lester Holt, NBC News

Biden’s response?

“Well, I don’t think…look,” says Joe Biden as he launches into talking, once again, about his opponents rhetoric. The bloodbath Trump “promised” if he lost the election. Holt interrupts the pResident with a comment:

This does not sound like you are turning down the heat, though.”-Lester Holt, NBC News

More Babbling Biden. Holt reframes the question yet again:

What can you and will you do to lower the temperature, to control the rhetoric out there?”-Lester Holt

More obsessing about January 6th and things Trump said. More about Trump’s legal woes. And the lies. When asked by Holt if Biden thought it appropriate to talk about Trump’s legal woes going forward, Biden simply stated that if he felt it “appropriate”, he would. When asked if he would drop out of the race as some members of his party suggested, he said one word:

No.”-Joe Biden

Dear God. He’s on the horse. C’mon, man!

Lester, look. Why don’t you talk about the 18, 28 lies he told?”-Joe Biden

Again, with the lies. How many lies have YOU told in your 81 years on this earth, Joe?

Leans in and whispers…

Where are ya on this? Why doesn’t the press ever talk about that?”-Joe Biden

Joe, they did for YEARS! God love ya!

28 times, it’s confirmed, he lied in that debate. I had a bad, bad night. I wasn’t feeling well at all. I screwed up. I didn’t have to see it, I was there!”-Joe Biden

(Laughs maniacally.)

And by the way, but seriously, you won’t answer the question. Why won’t the press talk about all the lies he told?”-Joe Biden

As this complete cluster unfolded before our very eyes, Joe Biden did not agree to a supplemental debate before his next scheduled debate with Trump in September. He, in fact, expressed no interest in this to save face. He urged Holt and company to “get with it” and to “talk about the issues” the next time they ask him to make an appearance after his bed time. Joe Biden’s demeanor during the Holt interview was combative and condescending. If he was trying to display mental acuity, he didn’t. He looked more like an old, angry, coot on speed (or whatever his handlers doped him up with). A grumpy old man shouting at clouds who does not know his Secret Service Director:

"Is it acceptable that you have still not heard, at least publicly, from the Secret Service Director?"

BIDEN: "Oh, I've heard from him."

On-deck for next chat with Biden? The issues. Let’s talk illegal immigration. Let’s talk economy. The irony here thatt went completely over Biden’s head was NBC News and Lester Holt were addressing some major issues. An attempted assassination on a former President and political opponent and the Democrats’ (to include Joe Biden) role in their rhetoric leading up to that point. This was the issue. This interview was a gift-a golden opportunity for accountability and introspection, that was squandered by the current “Big Guy” in The White House. Never underestimate Joe’s ability to F things up, right Barack? A national news outlet gave Joe Biden the chance to show a side he clearly does not have-

-a compassionate one.

Joe Biden went full-on disaster zone with Lester Holt. If Democrats in this nation still want to vote this crotchety, dementia patient in for another four years to hold the nuclear football, we are more braindead as a nation than we once thought.
