Amanda Marcotte Thinks Parents Shouldn’t Have Rights

Amanda Marcotte of Salon has forgotten to stop by the pharmacy to get her overdue prescription because she’s writing gibberish yet again.

Pray tell, what is it this time? Republicans don’t care about parent’s rights, that’s what. And, they don’t care about the kids, either.

You see, it’s all the fault of those Bible-thumping religious Christians that she hates so much. Why? Because some parents with Conservative Christian views don’t think the child they brought into this world can be any other gender but the gender of which they were born, because God created him/her as perfect. And, some of these parents get a little upset when school staff hide their child’s decision to use a different name/identity/gender at school.

That reality was revealed yet again last week, when the Supreme Court blocked a California law preventing teachers from outing trans kids to religious parents. The injunction is temporary, but most legal experts believe it is inevitable that the Christian right-favoring court will eventually rule against a child’s ability to decide when and with whom to share their gender identity — even if they fear being beaten, disowned or thrown out on the streets.”-Amanda Marcotte, Salon

Marcotte states that “efforts to ban physical violence against children, protect children from spiritual abuse or ensure children’s right to education are routinely undermined by Republicans in the name of parents’ rights.” And now, trans children are in danger.

Trans children bare in danger because, in Marcotte’s world, Conservative “Christian” parents would only do one of two things if they found out their child was trans. 1) They would attempt to beat the trans out of them and throw out Biblical verses. And 2) They would kick them out of the house and disown them. In her pea-sized lefty brain, no rational conversations would be had. No loving statements would be made. This is Amanda Marcotte’s view of the Christian Conservative-a dullard with no love, ability or willingness to reason.

In reality, if a kid who is “trans” is outed to a Conservative Christian family, the conversations would be loving but, yes, rooted in the Biblical; that God knew him or her before he or she was even born-every hair on his or her head. There will be prayer. The parent might accept them but disapprove (it’s their right to do so) and will give rational reasons WHY they are not aligned with the lifestyle choice. The child will not be kicked out of the home because that’s not what loving, Christian families do. They will caution the child about the dangers of running away from the home. It is up to the child to receive this. Unfortunately, some children don’t receive this well and choose to run off. The state and the schools are all but encouraging children to do this, to look for the “accepting safe havens”. Organizations promote this with no mentions of the child trafficking and the dangers of being an on-the-run youth. it’s all rainbow-spouting unicorns and happy, happy happiness.

And let’s cozy-up and talk about spiritual abuse for just a moment. This is a popular buzz word with the left when discussing religion but, I would argue that spiritual abuse also comes from the left. They selectively set out a few years back to BREAK the spirit of our youth. They are the manufacturers of catchy slogans. They are the mouthpieces of mass media. They provide the content that these young, impressionable minds consume on TikTok and YouTube and other social media. They are convinced that guys who want to be girls can have periods they want them badly enough. They are some of our educators, and school administrators, who also churn out this content in their curriculum. Social Emotional Learning, they call it. They are the same administrators and educators who do nothing about the (biological) boy in the girls’ locker room because their focus, according to Marcotte, is part of their “duty to care”.

Schools have a duty to care. They have to put the best interest of the child first.”-Imara Jones, TransLash Media

So much for “caring” about those girls in that locker room. Their interests are not put first. Their parents are bigots. Schools’ “duty to care” only ties to their pet agenda of choice, apparently.

In truth, it IS a parent’s right to KNOW a biological boy is in a girls’ locker room (regardless of what gender HE identifies as). It is also a parent’s right to counsel their child if they think the child is making uninformed, bad decisions. Gavin Newsom’s California law takes that right away from the parents. If anyone should be unhinged, it should be these parents. But Marcotte is more unhinged than any Conservative parent when she echoes the sentiment of feminist journalist, Jessica Valenti, in her fears: “it’s only a matter of time before Republicans argue teens shouldn’t have birth control at all“.

Oh, the birth control! We are on to abortion now. It’s okay, Mandy. With all of the transgender kids taking hormones, y’all won’t need to worry about birth control (AKA abortion because liberals use abortion as birth control and refuse to think of other less grotesque alternatives). They will all be sterile.

It’s their “duty to care”, after all.

Amanda doesn’t stop at calling out the religious right’s obsession with denying trans kids their delusions and other kids abortions, the “Republican, religious right” also wants to deny kids an education.

When conservative parents assert a right to censor their child’s education, they are also affecting what all the other kids in the classroom are able to read. Under their logic, the views of parents who take a more accepting, expansive view of child-rearing don’t matter. In the GOP universe, the only parents who have rights are conservatives. There is no Republican support for parents who assert the right to help a trans kid get health care, take a pregnant child to an abortion clinic or stock the local library with a variety of books so a child can learn and explore on their own.”-Amanda Marcotte, Salon

Allow me to translate what this pretentious, elitist, liberal snoot who has no idea of WTF she speaks is saying:

Conservative parents are anti-education. Why? Because they don’t think a school’s priorities should be focused on accommodating kids wanting to hop on-board with the latest trend of trans-ing. Because they don’t believe schools or kids should be focusing on abortion-or the acts that lead to an abortion (sex). They don’t believe library books about gay fairy tale characters should be available to students who do not even know how to write their last names or can make sense of their damn multiplication tables. Parents who DO buy into all of this BS are the smart ones, according to Marcotte, the ones taking a more accepting, expansive view of child rearing.

Our betters, of course.

Nothing quite says expansive child rearing like discounting the value of the family unit and turning the children over to the State. It’s every comrade’s wet dream. It takes a village to raise a child, after all…

Some parents don’t want their children raised by the village idiots and there are lots of them. And, you know what, Amanda? We reserve that right.

Amanda Marcotte is not a parent. Her writing is nonsense.

  • Cameron says:

You remember the harridans that screamed “No uterus, no opinion!” about abortion?

Amanda doesn’t have kids. She should sit quietly in the corner and stay out of this.
