California voters, in their infinite wisdom, have inflicted Adam Schiff upon the United States Senate for the next six years.
Due to the death of Dianne Feinstein, which left the seat held by a Gavin Newsom appointee (not without some problems), Adam Schiff actually won TWO races on the California ballot. The first was the “special election” to finish out the rest of Feinstein’s term (which at this point, is just a handful of weeks). The second was the Senate race, where Schiff beat Steve Garvey by a solid 19 points. The end result was that Adam Schiff has now been officially sworn in as a senator.
Thanks a lot, California. We now get six more years of this condescending smug jerk. The only up side that as the junior senator in the minority in the Senate, Schiff will have a lot less clout and opportunity to grandstand. Not that he won’t find every opportunity to do so, when he can.
For example, Adam Schiff now thinks it is VERY VERY BAD to prosecute your political opponents, and that no president should even be discussing such a thing. Furthermore, he does not want a pre-emptive pardon.

SCHIFF: “I don’t think the incoming president should be threatening his political opponents with jail time. That’s not the kind of talk we should hear from a president in a democracy, nor do I think that a pardon is necessary for the members of the January 6th Committee.”
I don’t think Schiff ever said anything to Joe Biden about his “lock him up” comments, but that aside – let’s ROLL THE TAPE on Adam Schiff himself!

Ooooof. That’s going to leave a mark. Let’s look at the other bit of Schiff’s comment – that he doesn’t want a pardon. He has said that before, too.
President Biden is considering preemptive pardons for those who may be targeted under the incoming Trump administration, which has been met with a divided response.
“I have more confidence in our system [to be] able to withstand potential abuses of power by the president. … I think the courts are strong enough to withstand the worst of his threats. And I don’t think a preemptive pardon makes sense,” Schiff told NPR last month.
“I think this is frankly so implausible as not to be worthy of much consideration. I would urge the president not to do that. I think it would seem defensive and unnecessary.”
Considering how deeply unpopular the Hunter Biden pardon is, it’s little wonder why Adam Schiff wants to stay as far away from that as possible.
Only about 2 in 10 Americans approve of President Joe Biden’s decision to pardon his son Hunter after earlier promising he would do no such thing, according to a poll from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research.
That displeasure tracks with the bipartisan uproar in Washington that ignited over the president’s about-face. The survey found that a relatively small share of Americans “strongly” or “somewhat” approve of the pardon, which came after the younger Biden was convicted on gun and tax charges. About half said they “strongly” or “somewhat” disapprove, and about 2 in 10 neither approve nor disapprove.
The poll found that about 4 in 10 Democrats approve of the pardon, while about 3 in 10 disapprove and about one-quarter did not have an opinion or did not know enough to say. The vast majority of Republicans and about half of independents had a negative opinion.
Schiff has six years in the Senate to serve right now. The last thing he wants is Joe Biden being “helpful,” and giving him a pardon that is going to taint his entire term of office. But if Biden wanted to be vindictive, then he would TOTALLY do it. He doesn’t need Schiff’s permission to issue it. Could Schiff refuse a pardon? How would that even work? But even the optics of the offer would be absolutely terrible for Adam Schiff – and he knows it.
