Hmmm. If only there had been someone to warn ABC that Roseanne Barr was crazy, vulgar, had racist tendencies, and had access to Twitter. If only they had known all of that!
If only there had been a warning sign pic.twitter.com/0qVG7fuifP

I am shocked, shocked that this person could prove too controversial to be the centerpiece of a network television show. https://t.co/CjxrGxCpbi pic.twitter.com/L7gLu1SbBO

Oh, they knew. And they rebooted her show anyway, and it had great ratings, and Hollywood was in a fit over it.
And then Roseanne (whose original show I did not watch, and whose rebooted show I did not watch), decided to give ABC the perfect excuse to cancel her new show.
Here’s the deleted tweet. pic.twitter.com/HAtkx1vsbP

“VJ” in this case is former Obama advisor Valerie Jarrett.
Then she went on a crazy rant about Chelsea Clinton as well. Of all the things to nitpick Chelsea Clinton about, this wasn’t it.
Chelsea Soros Clinton
— Roseanne Barr (@therealroseanne) May 29, 2018
Good morning Roseanne – my given middle name is Victoria. I imagine George Soros’s nephews are lovely people. I’m just not married to one. I am grateful for the important work @OpenSociety does in the world. Have a great day! https://t.co/mXokiTEwN7
— Chelsea Clinton (@ChelseaClinton) May 29, 2018
Sorry to have tweeted incorrect info about you!I Please forgive me! By the way, George Soros is a nazi who turned in his fellow Jews 2 be murdered in German concentration camps & stole their wealth-were you aware of that? But, we all make mistakes, right Chelsea?
— Roseanne Barr (@therealroseanne) May 29, 2018
I'm sorry-Chelsea Clinton IS NOT married to a nephew of George Soros-i apologize for the mistake! ! #Sorry
— Roseanne Barr (@therealroseanne) May 29, 2018
There’s no point in asking what Roseanne was smoking, because her track record shows that she can do this stuff while stone-cold sober.
And while some people are self-owning themselves in their rush to get away from her…
I will not be returning to @RoseanneOnABC.

Anyway until she said racist things to Valerie Jarrett, Sykes and others couldn’t have possibly known to stay away.
Other than the antisemitism, mob inciting, calls for beheadings, and clear mental instability.
But now we know. Now we take a stand.
— Actually, Quite a Dignified M’Fin Pickle (@sunnyright) May 29, 2018
… and even with Roseanne tweeting out apologies…
I apologize to Valerie Jarrett and to all Americans. I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks. I should have known better. Forgive me-my joke was in bad taste.
— Roseanne Barr (@therealroseanne) May 29, 2018
… ABC decided they finally had all they needed to cancel the show.
Roseanne canceled: pic.twitter.com/mSxxZ2ZPd5

First of all, I am no fan of Roseanne Barr. She’s been crazy for years. Did ABC honestly expect her to no longer be crazy? Did the dollar signs just entice them too much, or what? So this is on ABC as much as it is on Roseanne.
There is no “plausible deniability” here.
Roseanne’s recent comments about Valerie Jarrett, and so much more, are abhorrent and do not reflect the beliefs of our cast and crew or anyone associated with our show. I am disappointed in her actions to say the least.
— sara gilbert (@THEsaragilbert) May 29, 2018
Roseanne has always been a controversial figure.
LONG BEFORE she aggressively came out in support of Trump.
You, John Goodman, Laurie, both Becky's, and everyone else knew this about her when you rode that gravy train in the 90's, AND when signing on to ride it again.

This is incredibly sad and difficult for all of us, as we’ve created a show that we believe in, are proud of, and that audiences love— one that is separate and apart from the opinions and words of one cast member.
— sara gilbert (@THEsaragilbert) May 29, 2018
She created the show. And it's named after her. "One cast member." This is like if Justin Bieber had a meltdown and someone in his backup band was like "It was just one band member." This is who she always was, and you knew it going into this. You just couldn't pass up the $$$.
— Parker Molloy (@ParkerMolloy) May 29, 2018
When someone tells you who they are, BELIEVE THEM. ABC knew what Roseanne was like. The cast knows what she’s like. And they all didn’t mind making a buck off her shtick until it came back to bite them.
And to those on the right – please don’t defend this. It’s not worth it.
The collective of fucking morons think this is clever, as I’ve gotten it more than a dozen times now.
Thanks, dolts. The point was she does controversial shit and it shouldn’t be a surprise. ABC knew what they bought. https://t.co/T7T4zxZ8TB
— Actually, Quite a Dignified M’Fin Pickle (@sunnyright) May 29, 2018
*Years ago* was when Roseanne should have stopped being welcome in polite society.
But she was far-left fringe crazy so it was fine. Now she’s far-right, and whoa boy gotta go.
Which is exactly like Trump. He was welcome despite his record so long as he was a Democrat.
— Actually, Quite a Dignified M’Fin Pickle (@sunnyright) May 29, 2018
When she was calling for the beheading of bankers? Doing Nazi-themed photoshoots? Calling for mob justice against a target of the left? That was fine, give that woman a contract.
She said something racist to an Obama aide? Fire her ass yesterday.
— Actually, Quite a Dignified M’Fin Pickle (@sunnyright) May 29, 2018
And yes, it’s a double standard. But don’t stand with bad people because there are other bad people on the other side.
Roseanne already richly deserved the scarlet letter, so I weep no tears for her.
But notice: open bigotry vs African-Americans, Christians, Jews weren't a deal-breaker until she was associated with Trump.
That's what rankles many on the Right: a sense that these are pretexts.
— Dan McLaughlin (@baseballcrank) May 29, 2018
This makes no sense. She was unemployed when she called Susan Rice an ape. She got a job because she was for Trump! Lost it because that new job came with scrutiny the next time she was racist
— Tim Miller (@Timodc) May 29, 2018
One, they hired her knowing her track record.
Two, they also just re-hired Olbermann this week.
Three, nobody associated with the political Left would go down this fast over a Tweet.
— Dan McLaughlin (@baseballcrank) May 29, 2018
Oh yes, THAT Keith Olbermann. Let it be noted RIGHT NOW that ABC/Disney/ESPN knows EXACTLY what they are buying.
So does Keith Olbermann represent the values of @Disney? https://t.co/eYqcndmzvg
— Meech (@michi83) May 29, 2018
The last thing ABC stands for is supporting someone who tweets awful things… Now over to Keith Olbermann with sports… pic.twitter.com/bEXprawPtJ
— Tim Young (@TimRunsHisMouth) May 29, 2018
Roseanne is a hateful idiot who deserves to have her show canceled but don’t ignore the fact that Keith Olbermann’s hateful ass is being celebrated and employed by ESPN.
— Lance (@SportsGuyLance) May 29, 2018
Exactly. It would be nice if media companies would decide to think a little more about whom they decide to associate with. But that’s not how it works. It’s all about the money. And Keith Olbermann will have a job right up until the point he becomes a liability to ABC. Just like Roseanne Barr did.
Couldn’t happen to a nicer person. *eyeroll*
But, then again, yes, the network knew what they were doing.
The prog utopia is such a wonderful place to live……..
I still haven’t forgiven her for intentionally botching the Star Spangled Banner.
