I feel for this guy. I can’t imagine how traumatic it would be to survive a school shooting, especially if you grew up in an environment that not only coddled you but made you feel that it was your birthright to never have to face adversity. These students are mad that the world isn’t perfectly safe, like they were promised, and they demand we do anything and everything we can to make it so. Sadly, their solution is a nonstarter… it isn’t politically viable nor will it have the desired effect. They don’t understand that there is no such thing as ‘gun violence’ but instead only violence committed by one human against others. And, they don’t understand the irony of objecting to transparent backlogs as violations of their right to privacy when they have done nothing wrong… while calling to violate others’ Second Amendment rights even though we have done nothing wrong.

We have passed something that will help because if it had been in place it would have been a lot harder for the Parkland shooter to acquire a gun, the ‘Fix-NICS’ law that was part of the recent omnibus budget. But if the March for Our Lives really wanted to be effective, someone would have proposed that every single teen at that march make the effort to reach out to socially isolated, disaffected, and ostracized youth in their own schools.
