The Palm Beach Post has reported and confirmed that the Orlando shooter Omar Mateen worked as a security guard. Yes, folks, you cannot make this stuff up.

Omar Mateen assumed room temperature this morning, courtesy of the Orlando Police Department (standing ovation), but not before he murdered fifty people and wounded 53 more. He did not purchase his weapons at a gun show. No. He bought his weapons legally because he worked in security. He had BACKGROUND CHECKS. He had weapons training.

Omar Mateen, aka The Dead Jihadi, worked for G4S Security. If that name doesn’t ring a bell, Wackenhut should. Wackenhut for decades was familiar for providing security. In 2011, Wackenhut merged with G4S.

According to the Palm Beach Post, Mateen, the dead Jihadi, had worked for Wackenhut/G4S since 2007. Following is the statement from G4S:

“We are shocked and saddened by the tragic event that occurred at the Orlando nightclub. We can confirm that Omar Mateen had been employed with G4S since September 10, 2007. We are cooperating fully with all law enforcement authorities, including the FBI, as they conduct their investigation. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of the friends, families and people affected by this unspeakable tragedy.”

I know that we don’t control our own employment start dates, but September 10????

So, Mateen, the dead Jihadi, had worked for nearly nine years in security for the same firm. No hopping around. No job changing. Did Wachenhut/G4S have a clue? Did he have friends at work? Did he express homophobic views? Did he talk about beating his ex-wife?

According to the Hindustan Times, Mateen was investigated by the FBI two times and accused by his ex-wife of beating her and the security firm he worked for didn’t know. G4S provides security and they didn’t know about this guy. G4S, here is a clue, you fail at your core competency!

And, Omar Mateen, still a dead Jihadi, worked security at a secure facility for Juvenile Delinquents! True fact. You cannot make this stuff up.

Although I wrote this piece with snark and sarcasm, my thoughts, prayers and love are with the innocent victims at the Pulse Nightclub. They didn’t have a chance. I think I speak for all of the Victory Girls when I offer up prayers on their behalf.
