A top California medical school has found itself in the crosshairs of the Justice Department recently.

The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) took it upon themselves to selectively admit students of color, as opposed to, well, you know, students with high MCAT scores or GPAs. According to this, UCSF discriminated against white and Asian applicants, giving black candidates almost 13 times better odds of admission than white students with similar qualifications in 2025.

Unfortunately, at UCSF Medical School, MCAT scores and undergraduate GPAs have taken a backseat to race. Aspiring doctors should be admitted based on their qualifications. The Supreme Court has spoken clearly — federally funded medical schools may not admit students based on misguided and illegal notions of diversity.”-Harmeet Dhillon, assistant attorney general for civil rights at the U.S. Department of Justice

Dhillon wrote a nine-pager with all of the findings. More:

(It was) concluded black and Hispanic students admitted between 2023 and 2025 had lower test scores and undergraduate grades than the average white and Asian applicant the school rejected. UCSF admits just 2.5% of more than 10,000-plus annual applicants.

But in 2025, UCSF admitted 7% of Black applicants and 4.8% of Hispanic applicants, compared with 1.7% of white applicants and 2% of Asian applicants, according to federal officials.”-Josh Koehn, California Post

Nothing new to see here. It’s the university system in California. In 2025, the numbers looked something like this:

Accepted black applicants had lower average MCAT scores than accepted white or Asian students at all but one school, Carle Illinois College of Medicine. Thirteen schools accepted black students with average MCAT scores lower than the score of the average rejected Asian or white applicant. That suggests black applicants receive significant preferential treatment.”-Citizen Frank

This looks to be a great way for UCSF to lose funding. Currently, UCSF receives nearly $1 billion in federal funding annually, including a $5 million grant from the Justice Department. But this funding is contingent upon fair practices of the admissions process.

White students that year averaged a 519 MCAT score — in the 96th percentile — and a 3.95 GPA, while Asian students averaged a 518, in the 95th percentile, and a 3.93 GPA. Admitted black students averaged a 514 and a 3.86 GPA, while Hispanic students averaged a 513 and a 3.88 GPA.”-Josh Koehn, California Post

UCLA is in on this practice, too:

Dismantling opportunities. Yeah, for the Asian guy with the 4.0. For the white girl/guy who busted his/her a$$.

There seems to be a trend, here. UC Berkeley also violated federal civil rights law when selecting its incoming classes of 2024 and 2025.

So, if we’re getting this all straight, medical schools are admitting whomever they want, not based on GPA or test scores, but based on melanin. Universities are also hiring “professors” who have largely plagiarized their work and lied about their credentials. As a result, institutions of higher learning are handing out white coats to graduates in the name of diversity.

Dhillon invited UCSF to negotiate an agreement to change its admissions practices and pipeline programs, giving the school 10 days to respond. If an agreement cannot be reached by Oct. 2, the feds could seek to force compliance through a lawsuit.”-California Post

But academic excellence has “always been central to the UCSF admissions process”, say school officials. Yeah, until DEI made academic excellence take the back seat.

Imagine being on the operating room table getting prepped for brain surgery when the nurse comes in and asks you to choose your doctor. The first doctor, an Asian man who got all As, had a stellar GPA throughout school and did his residency with the best brain surgeons in the business and the black woman who wrote her assignments with the help of AI and barely passed her clinical. I mean, I know who I’m going with if given that choice. It’s a no-brainer (no pun intended here) and it has nothing to do with race or gender for that matter.

This is not to say that black medical students and the medical programs they attend do not churn out good docs. I believe anyone with the drive can succeed, but not everyone will end up a doctor, for whatever reason or another. Not everyone can take that Hippocratic oath. Or, at the very least, the system should be designed so that not every one can. This honor should only be for the best of the best. Black. White. Brown. Red. Yellow. Alien. Whatever.
