Independence Day Gone Woke In San Diego County, California

Two hundred and fifty years certainly is something to celebrate and some big cities and small, American towns are doing it up right.

San Diego County, California is not one of these. This “celebration” they have on deck is one for the books. The itinerary was leaked by El Cajon Mayor’, Bill Wells.

Local Tribal stories. Local Latino stories. Local Asian-Pacific Islander stories. Local African-American stories. No time for stories of white Americans of European ancestry who’ve also helped make this nation great over the past 250 years. No time for stories of brave men and women who sacrificed themselves to serve in the Armed Forces and in combat. But, you know who they have included in the line up? Your local LGBTQIA+-/&*WXYZ stories. It’s not enough the LGBTQ crowd had a whole damn month. Now they want Independence Day, too? Three cheers for the Queer Palestinian flag and the stars and the strips FURRever…

A furry’s story (they are now under the LGBTQ+ rainbow umbrella, apparently), is more important than the Veteran’s story. This is where we are at. There will be no Klingon community stories, though, sad to say. So, really…how inclusive are they?

People viewing the post on X found it hard to believe. They thought, for sure, Mayor Wells was bluffing. He provided the receipt, stating it was from the San Diego County Board of Supervisors meeting dated February 10, 2026:

Supervisors Desmond and Anderson brought forward a 250th celebration for the whole region. The three Democrats rewrote it, tied it to the county’s ‘equity, inclusion, and racial justice goals,’ and handed planning to the Office of Equity and Racial Justice.”-Bill Wells

Nothing about the Declaration of Independence or our founding fathers. Instead of hamburgers and hot dogs, ice cream, apple pie and fireworks, San Diego County has turned their “celebration” into a 3-plus-hour podium for grievances and victimhood. A chance to call out individual groups who are different than others to draw more attention to separateness than unity. To draw and feed upon division and racism instead of highlighting One Nation, Under God.

It could be argued that they absolutely hate children and families with this horrific lineup. Who would want to sit with their child through that? Scratch that. Any liberal who lacks a sense of humor and pride in the country they call “home”.

States “sitting out” the celebration in Washington D.C. Americans denouncing their country and moving to Canada. 250 years is not a milestone and cause for celebration for 40-something year-old “Karens”, it is an “American declaration of grandiosity“, to some.

No, they’re “stories”. And some people’s stories are more important than yours.

Imagine our founding fathers looking down upon us now…

I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated, by succeeding Generations, as the great anniversary Festival. It ought to be commemorated, as the Day of Deliverance by solemn Acts of Devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires and Illuminations from one End of this Continent to the other from this Time forward forever more.

You will think me transported with Enthusiasm but I am not. — I am well aware of the Toil and Blood and Treasure, that it will cost Us to maintain this Declaration, and support and defend these States. — Yet through all the Gloom I can see the Rays of ravishing Light and Glory. I can see that the End is more than worth all the Means. And that Posterity will tryumph in that Days Transaction, even altho We should rue it, which I trust in God We shall not.”-John Adams

People will continue to apologize for us. People will continue to trip over themselves when they apologize for themselves. People will continue to be victims, blame others for their misery in this life and hang their flags upside down. They will boycott. People will turn off their porch lights and stay inside and not celebrate with their neighbors. People will continue to feel oppressed and vocalize their utter frustration with their oppression while waving flags of even more oppressive countries. They will deny the existence of others and even deny their OWN existence. They will all but beg to have their independence taken away. They will sit out our National Anthem, they will kneel instead of placing their hands over their hearts and they will deny God even when God slaps them upside the head time and time again with reality.

Mr. Adams? The end has been more than worth the means. Still is. Even for these clueless ingrates.

I’m sorry but why do I care about the stories of conquered people? At least MCRD won’t be indulging in this bullshit. Heck, when I was there we were allowed to stay up late to watch the fireworks from the squad bay.

Wait, aren’t you of Italian descent? I seem to remember something about that. In any case, if you are, are you aware that back around the time all the Italian immigrants were coming in the late 1800’s/early1900’s, they weren’t considered white? Or that the Irish really weren’t either when waves of them came in the mud 1800’s?

And isn’t one of the writers here at least partially Japanese? So is she not American and worthy of celebrating? Her family is part of the Asian Pacific Islanders group. So I guess according to you celebrating the ways in which her relatives contributed to the US isn’t American?

I guess it’s only WASPs that should be celebrated. Better make sure you don’t eat any hot dogs because the Germans invented them and Germans also weren’t acceptable immigrants at one point. And they aren’t Anglo Saxon either. Or hamburgers for that matter since those may have also been invented by Germans. I guess you just have to stick to shepherd’s pie— hard to eat with your hands, another thing those dirty foreigners do!— and various British puddings without any spices since spices are all foreign. And no sugar in your apple pie either since sugar was originally brought to Europe through merchants in Venice trading with Arabs. Oops there’s the dirty foreigners giving us good stuff! Apple pie is also not American having likely originated in England or Europe during the Middle Ages.

Hmph, maybe then it’s just corn and beans for you since those are American, or at least American in the sense of the continent. Better hope the Native Americans share since they are the only original Americans.
