Media: Rededicate 250 Is Icky Racist White Christian Nationalism

For the media and the left, white Christian Nationalism is their verbiage for painting Christians as racist. Reporting on the Rededicate 250 Prayer event yesterday was much the same.

Thousands of people gathered on the National Mall on Sunday for a daylong rally blending Christian prayer and political fervor, a gathering President Trump had touted as an opportunity to “rededicate America as one nation under God.”

The crowds came to the heart of Washington to hear from spiritual and elected leaders and members of Mr. Trump’s cabinet. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth appeared in a recorded video message early in the day, exhorting the crowd to “pray without ceasing,” a phrase that appears in the New Testament.

He recounted an apocryphal account of President George Washington praying at Valley Forge in the winter of 1777-1778, a moment that has become a touchstone for some Christians who argue that the founders envisioned America as an explicitly Christian nation.

“Let us pray for our nation on bended knee and let us ask our Lord and savior Jesus Christ, as Washington did on that momentous day, so help us God,” Mr. Hegseth said, to cheers from the crowd.

How dare we remind Americans that our Founders prayed. How dare we remind Americans that this Republic was built on faith in God. How dare our elected officials attend a prayer rally, read Bible verses and…PRAY??!!!

Cue the cries and rantings of separation of church and state.

Unfortunately, the media and leftists (Democrats included) are banking on – mostly successfully – for Americans failure to understand that the separation of church and state narrative is NOT in our United States Constitution. It is nowhere to be found in that amazing document.

As a reminder, our Constitution, within the First Amendment, specifically tells our government to stay OUT of our faith. Our government does not get to dictate how, where, and whom we worship. That’s it. Period.

Yet the left has been, especially for the last 50+ years, insisting that any mentions of faith and the faith of our Founders by our government, in our schools, in the public square must be silenced.

Prayers in school? Gone

Prayers outside of abortion clinics? The Obama and Biden Administration put people in jail.

Ten Commandments? Erase them from everywhere.

That’s just three of thousands of instances where faith has been silenced across this nation.

So, having the Rededicate 250 Prayer event take place on government property and have government officials cite Bible passages and pray means the Trump Administration is engaging in White Christian Nationalism. CNN’s John Blake said it bluntly.

“I think what you’re seeing is that there’s a certain kind of movement called white Christian nationalism,” Blake said when Whitfield asked what he made of the event. “It’s been around for centuries in this country. It’s mutated, become certain things, but white Christian nationalism has never had this access to political power. It now has it with President Trump.”

He said others in the administration “subscribe to these beliefs” as well, “and because of that, it’s now front and center. He’s pushing this.”

Blake added there have been presidents in the past like Jimmy Carter who were open about their faith. But he said “No one has ever pushed explicitly this Christian nationalism, and that’s whaat President Trump is doing.”

It’s completely fine for an Administration to promote transgenders and gays when it’s against a significant number of American’s values. It’s totally fine for a current candidate to decide pole dancing and twerking is the way to manage her campaign for Congress.

Yet, when government officials or a President dare to cite actual Bible verses, the world must end as we know it.

Many “scholars” state that this country wasn’t founded upon freedom of religion. It wasn’t founded upon faith. And they are holding to the canard of separation of church and state.

The prayer event showed that the separation of church and state was “under extreme attack,” said Rachel Laser, president of Americans United for Separation of Church and State, which has filed seven lawsuits against the administration related to its turn toward Christianity.

“If Trump really wanted to celebrate what is unique and foundational about America, he’d be celebrating our promise of church-state separation and religious freedom for all,” she said.

Again, our First Amendment explicitly gives us freedom OF religion.

The Rededicate 250 Prayer event celebrates the bedrock faith of the founding of this Republic. Nowhere that I could find did any speaker yesterday mandate that anyone had to choose one faith over another.

Keep in mind, our history tells us that the 13 Colonies, soon to be the 13 states, had churches of multiple denominations. Episcopal, Baptist, Catholic, Lutheran, and more. All present at the time the Second Continental Congress called for a national day of prayer.

That is freedom OF religion right there.

But the left doesn’t want us to choose that. They want us to believe we can exist without faith.

Can we Amanda? Can we really? I don’t think so. In fact, I know we can’t just erase the faith of our Founding Fathers to fit your progressive narrative.

Some on the left are now claiming that this was a very exclusionary event. No it wasn’t. It was open to all. But you see, they are pointing to all the White Christians (Dr Ben Carson is evidently white now) who spoke at the day-long event.

Yesterday’s Rededicate 250 Prayer event wasn’t about exclusion. It was about celebrating and reminding everyone of the fact that faith was one significant driver of the founding of this Republic.

Celebrating and worshipping how we choose isn’t icky White Christian Nationalism. It is our First Amendment in action.
