It’s all about ICE, pork-laden bills, pandering, and “making them hurt.” For the Democrats, it isn’t about ensuring that the Coast Guard and TSA are getting paid.
Which is why, for the FIFTH time, Democrats either voted no or didn’t bother to show up to vote on DHS funding yesterday afternoon.
Statement to @FoxNews on the absences via Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL):

“I am frustrated. It’s ridiculous that 16 members of the Senate aren’t here to vote today. We have crazy lines at TSA. TSA workers aren’t getting paid and 16 senators aren’t here to vote. I’ve been trying to get…
Yes, there were a few Republicans who were absent as well. Perhaps all of them were getting a good view of the astronomically long lines at the TSA checkpoints?
Yeah, that’s horrible and infuriating. Especially given March is not only Spring Break month, March Madness has also started.
It looks like the vote was going to be a failure from the start, but IMO that doesn’t excuse any Senator, no matter the party, from ditching the vote.
The Senate failed to fund the Department of Homeland Security on Friday, as airline passengers fought through lengthy lines and a growing number of Transportation Security Administration employees began calling out sick.
Only 84 senators showed up for the fifth attempted vote to reopen DHS, which failed to clear a 60-vote threshold or even a simple majority — and fell largely along party lines.
Forty-six Republicans and Democratic Sen. John Fetterman of Pennsylvania voted to fund DHS, while 37 Democrats led by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) opposed its reopening in protest of President Trump’s immigration agenda.
TSA, the Coast Guard, FEMA, Cybersecurity, and other DHS sections are going into their SECOND month without paychecks. All because of the foot-stomping tantrums by the Democrats over ICE daring to arrest their favorite illegal alien criminals and deport them.
Yes, keep in mind, the Democrats are favoring illegal alien criminals who have committed rape, murder, child sex trafficking, pedophilia, burglary, drug trafficking, and more. They don’t care that the TSA lines are long and that airports might have to be shut down to handle this. You see, they told us the other day that the PAIN is the POINT for them.
Democrats are feeling the heat as federal workers miss paychecks and DHS warns of airport closures. They hope their planned discharge petition will, at the very least, deflect blame onto Republicans.
Many lawmakers also question whether keeping the agency shut down is meaningfully incentivizing the White House to negotiate in good faith on immigration enforcement reforms.
“It’s not forcing any change,” said Rep. Don Beyer (D-Va.). “In the meantime, we’re making people hurt. The long lines, that can’t make us more popular.”
“We’re on the right side on ICE, but not on the rest.”
No Don, you aren’t on the right side of ICE if you are advocating for more criminal activity by illegal aliens. You are on the very wrong side.
A bold strategy, making people suffer for illegal aliens by waiting in long lines? Let’s see if the voters support them.

Senator John Kennedy has an interesting thought experiment on how to get this passed and spike the Democrat guns at the same time.
The Louisiana Republican told Dasha Burns, the host of C-SPAN’s “Ceasefire” show, that the Senate could approve a funding bill for all agencies under DHS except for ICE and then pass a separate funding measure for the immigration agency through a reconciliation bill.
“Let’s open up everything but ICE, OK? Let’s open it up … but I can tell you what’s going to happen next. The Republicans are going to put a reconciliation bill on the floor that requires Republican votes to fund ICE, and the Democrats don’t have the vote to stop us,” Kennedy said.
“Now, that to me is a resolution to this,” the senator continued. “I don’t think my Democratic friends are going to like it, but that’s what’s going to happen if we do it that way.”
You can darned well bet Chuckie will fight all that tooth, nail, and fist-waving tantrum.
Senate Democrats will force a very simple vote to fully fund TSA.

America will see the matter crystal clear: which Senators WANT to pay TSA workers and end the chaos at our airports, and which Senators are going to BLOCK TSA funding yet again.
If the @SenateGOP want to open… https://t.co/Ia9S7lJwB9
If the Democrats were serious about ensuring our Coast Guard, TSA, FEMA and others are paid, all the Democrat Senators would’ve shown up and voted yes on funding DHS.
Their FIFTH no vote isn’t about ICE. It never was. It’s about Trump Derangement Syndrome, AND pandering to illegal aliens in hopes for future votes. They don’t care about the Americans who get hurt in the process. Schumer and the rest of the Democrats are responsible for this shutdown, just as they are for last two.
