Grammys Turn Into ICE Capades With Celebrity Virtue Signaling

It seems the celebrity class is busy virtue signaling about how much they hate/loathe/disagree with Immigrations and Customs Enforcement – while surrounded by security to keep the unwashed peasants away from them at this year’s Grammys.

Grandstanding at the Grammys is nothing new, but the singers were out to prove that they Believe The Right Things™, and were wearing the pins to prove it. AIDS ribbon, out, ICE OUT pins, in.

And of course, the speechifying. The famous people would like to tell us how much they support immigrants from behind their private security and gated homes. Let’s start with Bad Bunny, who for some inexplicable reason, will be performing at the Super Bowl halftime show next Sunday.

Puerto Rican superstar and this year’s Super Bowl Halftime Show performer Bad Bunny accepted the award for Best Música Urbana Album for “Debí Tirar Más Fotos.”

“Before I say thanks to God, I’m gonna say, ‘ICE out,’” the singer exclaimed. The crowd erupted, giving the singer a standing ovation.

He went on to say immigrants “are not savage, we’re not animals, we’re not aliens — we are humans, and we are Americans.” He urged fans and fellow artists to confront fear and division with love and compassion, a message that seemingly resonated with the crowd.

How nice of Bad Bunny to confirm that far too many celebrities put politics before God – or see politics AS God. I eagerly await Bad Bunny’s invitation to immigrant communities to come and be protected by him in his gated mansion. And the bigger question – will the NFL tell him to keep this commentary out of the halftime show?

Where is Ricky Gervais when you need him? At this point, someone should install a Bat-Signal at every single one of these award shows, and then flip the switch to summon Gervais to deliver a proper smackdown to these people.

Billie Eilish, who won “Song of the Year,” delivered her politically correct virtuous message, while wearing her pin, during her acceptance speech.

Later in the show, Eilish and her brother, Finneas, accepted the Grammy for song of the year and took their short moment onstage to address immigration.

“No one is illegal on stolen land,” Eilish said in her acceptance speech. “It’s just really hard to know what to say and what to do right now, and I just, I feel really hopeful in this room.”

She continued: “And I feel like we just need to keep fighting and speaking up and protesting and our voices really do matter, and the people matter.”

She kept speaking, but the broadcast bleeped out the rest of her message, seemingly because she used profanity. She and Finneas then returned to their seats.

So, what did she say that got bleeped?

“F—k ICE. That’s all I’m gonna say. Sorry.”

Is she apologizing for the profanity, for her opinion, for winning the award, or to ICE for having to say The Thing™ so the celebrity crowd will still listen to her music? I’m confused. Also, if “no one is illegal on stolen land,” will Billie Eilish’s security be welcoming anyone who shows up at her multi-million dollar horse ranch in Glendale? My guess is no, her security measures will be firmly in place. Ah, the NIMBYism of the celebrity class. You see, YOUR home is stolen land, THEIR homes are private sanctuaries necessary for their protection.

But all this grandstanding and profanity and performative virtue at the Grammys wouldn’t be a big deal – just another awards ceremony where celebrities pat themselves on the back for how awesome they think they are – if there wasn’t a freaking Supreme Court justice in the room enjoying her own celebrity status. Guess who?

Yes, the theater kid who now sits on the Supreme Court was there because she was up for a Best Audio Book Grammy, but she lost to the Dalai Lama. But how much do you want to bet that Justice Jackson was practicing judicial impartiality while all these celebrities were screeching about ICE? Was she sitting there, quietly restrained, or was she clapping like a seal during all the political talk? It’s one thing to have Democrat politicians like the Obamas win a Grammy or two and show up to cash in on their celebrity, but Ketanji Brown Jackson is a SITTING SCOTUS JUSTICE. Something tells me that her colleagues are going to continue their streak of not being impressed by her.

This anti-ICE campaign will probably continue to be fueled by the celebrity class until awards season is over, or until The Next Big Thing™ becomes more important and takes over the narrative. In the meantime, the celebrities should receive all the respect that they offer to those they demean, which is none. And Justice Jackson? Well, I’d say she should stick to her day job, but I’m not impressed with her work there, either. Thanks, Joe Biden!
