Doing as promised, Trump is in the process of laying the groundwork to secure our southern border.
But, President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, is not liking the threat of a 25% tariff on her country unless she “stops illegal immigration and drug trafficking into the U.S.” Sheinbaum had a few things to say to Mr. Trump in an open letter, to include:
You must also be aware of the illegal trafficking of firearms into my country from the United States.
Seventy percent of the illegal weapons seized from criminals in Mexico come from your country. We do not produce these weapons, nor do we consume synthetic drugs. Tragically, it is in our country that lives are lost to the violence resulting from meeting the drug demand in yours.”-Claudia Sheinbaum
Illegal firearms into my country, she says.
Pardon us, Claudia. You mean the criminals on your side who are paying the criminals on our side for ushering in these firearms? It is America’s fault these cartels use these firearms to kill innocents in your country alone, Ms. Sheinbaum? The cartels would have no means whatsoever of killing innocents in Mexico without American weapons? Please. The cartels also purchase these weapons from Central and South America and from the Middle East.
Were we culpable for some of this? Sure, we were. Guns came across our borders into the hands of the cartels with Operation Fast and Furious. (Ahem…Barack?)
Speaking of establishment politicians, let’s get back to Claudia Sheinbaum. She worked closely with Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) and belongs to the Party of the Democratic Revolution. More leftist corruption; different flavor.
Wait…wasn’t AMLO’s campaign funded largely by the cartel back in the day?
When the Justice Department shut down a secret inquiry into allegations that drug traffickers had funded the first presidential campaign of Mexico’s leader, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, officials in Washington closed the case forcefully.
Over the years that followed that 2011 decision, U.S. law enforcement agencies continued to hear similar reports, including accounts from at least four high-level Mexican traffickers who said their gangs helped to fund López Obrador’s political machine in return for promises of government protection, documents and interviews show.”-Tim Golden, propublica.org
But it wasn’t just “government protection” from “her” country that criminals purchasing smuggled guns received. They had the protection from our country, too. Weapons and smugglers alike came over the borders unchecked for the past few years because the Joe Biden and Kamala “Border Czar” Harris did absolutely NOTHING. This will not be the case in January and Trump is just throwing caution to the wind here.
Sheinbaum’s feathers have been ruffled, and she does not approve of Trump’s threats. Why? Well, it’s not just because we are bringing weapons into her country. We are also the reason for the drug demand, you see. They don’t consume these synthetic drugs made with chemicals freely flowing into their country from China.
China is the dominant source of chemical precursors used by Mexican cartels to produce fentanyl, while Chinese money launderers have become key players in the international drug trade, U.S. authorities say.”-Reuters
You see, drugs are a U.S. problem, according to Claudia Sheinbaum. We’re the cause of all chaos. Not the peace-lovers in Sinaloa. Not the chill guys in Juárez. Not any of the social ills in Mexico of class division (a woman with a PhD who grew up in an affluent family in Mexico City would not understand this.) It’s America who is to blame for getting our people killed by excessive drugs and murderers coming through our porous borders. It is the fault of the poor, addled, addicts who live here and purchase these drugs, made with chemicals from China, ushered in to our country by illegal, young, hungry gang members with guns they purchased from other thugs who live here who are the true problem. Drugs simply aren’t a problem in Mexico (snort), Neither is crime (double snort). It is AMERICA’S demand for the drugs that is getting people killed in Mexico, apparently. It’s “a problem of public health and consumption in our country’s society.”
It’s also America’s fault that some of our upstanding citizens were murdered by illegal migrants. If only we weren’t so dependent on and our lives didn’t revolve around guns and drugs! Perhaps Laken Riley would still be with us.
I have two words for Claudia Sheinbaum right now.
Both Mexico and Canada have the absolute right and power to easily solve this long simmering problem. We hereby demand that they use this power, and until such time that they do, it is time for them to pay a very big price!”-Donald Trump
In all reality, Trump will probably sit down in talks with Claudia Sheinbaum in the near future and hopefully, the two will come to more of an understanding of what needs to happen at the border. In the meantime, Trump’s not messing around.
I am convinced that North America’s economic strength lies in maintaining our trade partnership. This allows us to remain competitive against other economic blocs. For this reason, I believe that dialogue is the best path to understanding, peace, and prosperity for our nations. I hope our teams can meet soon to continue building joint solutions.”-Claudia Sheinbaum
Can’t wait to hear how this dialogue pans out. I like plain and simple dialogue the best. Ms. Sheinbaum, this is not just an American problem, as you so point out. So how’s about doing YOUR part to stop drug manufacturing and trafficking in YOUR country before the drugs cross over our border? That would be great, thanks. And that certainly would be the best “path” to this “peace, understanding and prosperity” you seek.
Or, do you need to check with the cartels, first?

“It is all Your fault, not ours, . . . .” Typical leftist, the politicians and their fellow travelers.
Well, she does have a couple of points. Illegal guns? Yes, and we will do our part: a balance between liberty (2nd Amendment) and safety of our citizens. (You might try some border security yourself!)
Drug consumption? Indeed: “If it feels good, how can it be bad.” Loss of faith, loss of understanding of right and wrong—both will take you down that path.
Here is Tom Lehrer (1953)
The Old Dope Peddler
When the shades of night are falling
Comes a fellow ev’ryone knows
It’s the old dope peddler
Spreading joy wherever he goes.
Ev’ry evening you will find him
Around our neighborhood.
It’s the old dope peddler
Doing well by doing good.
He gives the kids free samples
Because he knows full well
That today’s young innocent faces
Will be tomorrow’s clientele.
Here’s a cure for all your troubles
Here’s an end to all distress
It’s the old dope peddler
With his powdered ha-happiness.
Say what you want at least Mexican leftists are willing to elect a Jew to the stop spot!!! Ours won’t even tolerate one as #2. /sarc
A Jewish Woman – neither of which our Progressives can find one who is a viable candidate. Intersectionality has its good points.
Madam President, leaving out a word makes all the difference.
70% of “traced” weapons come, at some point, from the U.S. That’s because weapons manufactured in the U.S. are required to have a serial number. The last numbers I saw were that about 80% of the weapons seized in Mexico could not be traced. So, about 70% of 20% of the seized weapons (or about 14% of the total weapons seized) can be traced to the U.S. And that includes those stolen, or which disappear from Evidence Rooms, or officially reported as destroyed, etc.
If you really want to stop weapons being smuggled from the U.S. to Mexico, then secure your border and stop the Cartels smuggling drugs and people into the U.S. It’s like closing and locking a door. It stops traffic both ways – that is IF you really want to stop the smuggling.
