This is a problem that is not going to go away for Joe Biden. “Is he lying, or is he senile” should not be the two options the American public has to choose between.

As Nina covered yesterday, Hunter Biden’s redacted testimony transcript was released by the House Oversight Committee. In it, we get several confirmations of things we already knew from the previous testimonies from Devon Archer, Rob Walker, and Tony Bobulinski. Joe Biden may not have been involved in whatever day-to-day decisions were being made, but he was involved because he kept showing up when asked to by Hunter for these special dinners with Hunter’s “friends” and foriegn business connections. And Hunter himself confirmed that.

Hunter also confirmed that yes, Joe Biden is indeed “the Big Guy.”

The deposition represents the first time the 54-year-old Hunter has admitted that his former business partner James Gilliar was referring to Joe Biden when he raised the prospect on May 13, 2017, of the first son holding a 10% stake in the lucrative joint venture involving CEFC China Energy “for the big guy.”

Hunter then went on to explain that the deal never took place, and that he “shut it down.” But that wasn’t the point to begin with. Remember, the argument has always been that Joe Biden was NOT the person who was being referred to as “the big guy,” even though his own brother also called him that. Biden himself got testy about it when asked back in June 2023.

So now we have the facts from Hunter’s own testimony, plus that of others. Joe Biden was indeed showing up, pressing the flesh, and having meals with these business associates of Hunter’s. He WAS “the Big Guy” and his potential cut, even in a theoretical deal, was being considered by other business associates of the Bidens.

Could someone please tell Joe Biden about that? Because he is still out there claiming things that are now confirmed to be absolutely, categorically, false.

The 81-year-old president blasted House Speaker Mike Johnson’s assertion that Biden is “lying” about those interactions amid the Republican-led impeachment inquiry into alleged corruption.

“Tell him to read the record of every single witness,” Biden told a Post reporter on the White House lawn as he departed to Camp David following his son’s Wednesday testimony in the impeachment inquiry.

“These guys have got to stop this stuff,” Biden added.

When pressed, he insisted, “I did not interact with their partners.”

Biden snapped “No” to a follow-up question about whether he attended dinners and a lunch with his son and brother’s foreign business associates, as described in testimony.

We have multiple witnesses, including THE PRESIDENT’S OWN SON, confirming that he went to these dinners and met the business associates. A flat denial, like Joe Biden is still trying to push after years of denials, leaves us with only two options. Joe Biden is either lying intentionally, or he has truly forgotten about any of these details regarding Hunter’s business deals. Either of those options is extremely bad for the American public.

We have plenty of examples of Joe Biden lying or making up stories during his entire political career. The plagiarism. The multiple tales of flying with Xi Jinping, the Amtrak conductor story, the being raised in whichever community he’s currently talking to at any given moment. Even before he was an old man, Joe Biden was a known liar. He also lied during the 2020 campaign about how Hunter never got any money from China. Whether Joe knew it was a lie could be up for debate, if maybe he hadn’t met those Chinese business partners of Hunter’s.

The best option for Joe Biden is that he’s told himself these lies so many times that he really thinks they are true, and forgotten that they were lies to begin with. Or he’s simply forgotten these dinners. Given his cognitive decline, this is entirely possible. But it definitely means that this elderly man, who will be 82 this November, should not get another term as president. “So what?” you say. “Is it really a big deal that he forgot about a couple of dinners?”

Well, yeah, it is, because he’s still denying that it happened, despite all the testimony to the contrary, AND because he keeps getting details wrong in the course of his everyday work as president.

John Kirby had to do the clean-up on that one, because that’s the job of a press secretary under Joe Biden.

Joe Biden wants us to “read the record of every single witness.” That’s the problem. We have. That’s how we know he’s lying. The question remains – is the lying deliberate, or is it because of his cognitive decline? That question can only be answered by the American public.
