Just when I had made up my mind about who I was leaning toward, he dropped out. So what happens to those DeSantis diehards? A lot of people on X are peeved. They say they will never support Trump.
But are they just blowing off steam online? Or does it even matter who they throw their vote towards? I know, a lot of questions.
A recent Breitbart article is calling these DeSantis diehard voters influencers. It is obvious these influencers did not understand the assignment. They failed. Their guy bailed. The influencers were not enough to change minds and hearts.

But DeSantis failed, too. I can’t tell you why or how, but he did quit. The polls clearly showed the writing on the wall, and some will say it’s best for him to get out now, save face, not make more enemies right now, retreat, and recover for the future. 2028.
And then you have some that are resigned to the fact and almost glad the in-fighting is over.
It’s unfortunate that the DeSantis campaign didn’t work out but to be honest I’m very glad the Republican primary is effectively over. I’ve lost my taste for conservative in-fighting in my old age. Hate when we’re at each other’s throats. It will be nice to be fighting the same…

But is it? Can the DeSantis people get over all the vulgarities, bull, and nastiness thrown their way by Trump and his influencers? As I previously stated, there are a lot of people who are peeved about DeSantis quitting. Well, not about DeSantis quitting but about the vast divide between the two Republicans by Trump supporters. Granted, they are on X, and of course, we have to say that they don’t speak for everyone.
Help me figure this out:

There are many upset people right now. Their emotions are strong right now. The question will be, will they be able to calm down in the coming months and get behind the Republican candidate? Even after all the hostility launched at them these last few months? Or does it even matter? Does Trump have enough of a lead that it doesn’t even matter? Probably so.
Donald Trump has mocked many people over the years, So mocking DeSantis isn’t surprising, but is it a great way to win friends and influence people? Apparently so.
Trump supporters PLEASE stop telling DeSantis supporters that they aren’t welcome in the fight against the Left…
We need EVERY. SINGLE. VOTE.
ESPECIALLY since we know the Left cheats.
Don’t be self-destructive. PLEASE be smarter than that.

John Shepherd says: DeSantis voters will vote for Trump. They might not like it but he is not the nevertrump candidate. Nikki Haley has that lane. His political career will be over in 2026 because he can’t run for governor again and there is no other office available. Some will point to Reagan’s failure in 1976 as a prelude to 1980 but the analogy doesn’t fit. Reagan did not lose as badly as DeSantis did and primary voters chose Ford because he was the incumbent. There was no cult of Ford. If you visit any blog comment section where Trump cultists hang out you will see they have not acknowledged Trump’s magnanimity towards DeSantis. They won’t support him four years from now. They will latch on to Vivek, if he is still a thing, or Kari Lake if she manages to win next time.
Trump will probably beat Biden and the Democrats know it. They aren’t stupid and retaining power is what they are all about. Trump supporters simultaneously believe that the Democrats rig primaries and elections but they won’t be able to stop Biden if wants to run. Such talk is just whistling past the graveyard. The laptop drop two days after Iowa made it clear that the Dems have a replacement plan. They may let Biden “win” the primary for honors sake but he won’t be the nominee in the end. Say hello to President Michelle, Gavin, Gretchen or whoever they identify as someone who will defeat Trump.

John Shepherd says: If you knew how to read you would have figured out that I don’t think he is going to be the candidate so I am not predicting he will win.
For my two cents…
In 2016, I was a Ted Cruz supporter (and, yay!, I actually got to vote for my preferred candidate for the first time in 38 years as a voter). I did NOT like Trump’s rhetoric, or the political nastiness practiced on Cruz by his campaign. I also figured that, at BEST, Trump would be President Paul Ryan – great plans in the campaign, completely abandoned once he was inaugurated.
I voted for Trump in the general – better him, insulting and nasty as his public persona was, than the one that wanted to put me in a “fun camp” (the euphemism for wanting me and my entire family dead).
Now, his persona has not changed in the least. But he has a performance record now – a good record, which surprised the hell out of me. MUCH better, again, than those who want me DEAD.
But there are those who tell me that I might as well not go vote, neither in the primary, or in the general; the Democrats will just pull a switcheroo on me and get someone else that is guaranteed to beat Trump. Someone that wants me dead just as much as the Biden Junta does. Perhaps I am just “whistling by the graveyard.” But I will at least TRY to not become a resident of it. Surrender monkeys do not impress me in the least.
Liz says: I lived in Florida then and voted for Rubio in the primary…because I didn’t like Trump.
I’d have preferred DeSantis but it is what it is.
You are right, Trump did a very good job.
I was also surprised (but I knew what Hillary would do, so even if he had been terrible it would’ve been better than no fly zones over Syria).

Employment, gas prices, inflation… it was all too good under Trump.
So the slackers and other assorted worthless people had the luxury of burning and looting and blocking roads and being generally fascist.
But now with food getting unaffordable and illegal aliens making cities unlivable, you hear less and less about global warming and other silliness.
Biden has united Americans! as collectivism so often does.
Trump would set back all this progress.
Four more years of Biden has a good chance of getting most American’s priorities straight.

Yes, he did get some good things done the first time, but he doesn’t have the best subordinate picker, and I really dislike how he blamed us Pro-lifers for his choices losing the last election
