For two years, we have all known the days of the botched Afghanistan Withdrawal, the suicide bomber at Abbey Gate that killed 13 heroes and wounded many, many more, and the visual of Joe Biden checking his watch were awful, but as facts dribble out, the callous indifference of Biden and each and every person involved becomes clear. Two years after we watched that unholy mess unfold and watched our precious children murdered and butchered, no one, NO ONE, has been held accountable. A report was issued blaming President Donald Trump. Callous!
As mad as I was that not one person had the intestinal fortitude to speak out again the wildly callous behavior that I saw at the time, I was livid when a memory popped up on Facebook. I, an utter layman, worried about a suicide bomber at Harmid Karzai International Airport (HKIA), before it happened, but not one person wearing stars worried:
No one threw any stars on any desk in the two ears since. Hubris.
Yesterday, Congressman Michael McCaul, Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee held a roundtable, not a hearing. Family members of the 13 brutally murdered service personnel had the opportunity to speak. According to the Washington Examiner, there was common sentiment:
A common sentiment among the parents who spoke during the event was a demand for answers surrounding the decisions that led up to the bombing and a collective frustration toward current military and administration officials, including President Joe Biden.
“He will never have the chance to get married. He will never experience the joy of being a father, and he would have made one hell of a dad. We will never meet our grandkids. Our family name died that day. Two years have gone by and where are we? To be frank, we’re knee-deep in bulls*** is where we are,” said Mark Schmitz, the father of Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Jared Schmitz. “Everyone who held a key position in the military still has that position or has been promoted.”
This is powerful and raw testimony:
Wow. Mark Schmitz, whose son was killed in Kabul during the Biden Afghanistan withdrawal, goes scorched earth.
Says the admin has the families "knee-deep in bullshit," Biden is a "disgrace" to the United States, and Blinken/Austin need to "pack up their shit" and resign. pic.twitter.com/q1dWugT9an

“It’s two fucking thirty, asshole.” Biden is a callous narcissist.
No, Creepy Joe Biden won’t say their names, but Chairman McCaul began the roundtable yesterday by reading their names and asking for a moment of silence.
Two years ago today, 13 brave U.S. servicemen and women were killed at Abbey Gate during Biden’s botched withdrawal – the deadliest attack on Americans in Afghanistan since 2011.
We will never forget these heroes.

More from the Washington Examiner:
Darin Hoover, the father of Marine Corps Staff Sgt. Taylor Hoover, called on Biden, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, and Gen. Mark Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, to resign from their positions.
“None of you have the respect of your men and women anymore,” he said. “Do what is right. It’s past time.”
When asked about the hearing, deputy Pentagon spokeswoman Sabrina Singh said, “U.S. military commanders on the ground in Afghanistan made decisions that they could with the information that they had at the time. They were given the decision-making capability and were responding to threats on the ground in real time, and so we are very proud of the work that our commanders and our service members did not during just the evacuation in those few weeks but over the 20-year war.”
Blah, blah, blah. Words without meaning. The following would be a good start, but we won’t get answers:
He announced at the start of the hearing that the Department of Defense has agreed to allow Lt. Col. Brad Whited of the Marine Corps to sit for a transcribed interview with the committee, which is seeking his testimony due to previous testimony from Sgt. Tyler Vargas-Andrews. Vargas-Andrews told the committee in a hearing earlier this year that he identified a person who fit the description of the would-be bomber but did not get approval to eliminate the threat because his leadership, Whited included, did not know who held the authority to approve such a call.
Rather than worrying about keeping our children safe, what were the Perfumed Princes of the Pentagon worried about? Climate Change. Oh yes. Read this and mourn for our future:
In the midst of the Biden administration’s disastrous military withdrawal from Afghanistan, top Pentagon officials were working to get the Secretary of Defense to sign a major climate change initiative, according to emails obtained by The Daily Wire.
In the two weeks between the fall of Kabul to the Taliban on August 15, 2021, and the final U.S. military flight out of Afghanistan on August 30, Pentagon officials were scrambling with the White House to finalize the Department of Defense Climate Adaptation Plan, a document that declares climate change a major national security risk.
The emails indicate frustration from climate change-focused Pentagon officials at the difficulty of getting the plan signed — but that ultimately their determination to focus on climate change even during the Afghanistan withdrawal paid off. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin signed the climate initiative on September 1, just six days after 13 Americans were killed by a Taliban suicide bomber.
James Fitzpatrick, a member of the U.S. Army Reserve who obtained the emails through his organization, the Center to Advance Security in America, says the emails show military leadership was being “hounded” by climate activists within the government as it was trying to navigate withdrawal.
“While the Biden Administration was in the middle of a disastrous and deadly Afghanistan withdrawal, our top military leaders were being hounded by DoD climate activists to fast track a plan to transform the Department by forcing politically charged climate change discussions into every decision the DoD makes,” Fitzpatrick said.
Climate-freaking-change. I would like to kick those ranks up their backsides so hard that they all spit stars and eagles.
It’s been two years, right? These callous sub humans have not returned the personal effects of the Gold Star Families’ loved ones.
The families of the 13 service members who died two years ago today at Abbey Gate STILL DON’T have the answers they are looking, including their personal affects. I will NEVER quit in the fight for accountability for these families. pic.twitter.com/A9MpxQU35X

I understand why the family of a soldier killed who thought the orders of a President to evacuate Afghanistan was wrong. I understand why they are upset at him.
Explain to me this … Joe Biden didn’t call them “losers or suckers.” He made a decision they didn’t like and their son unfortunately paid the price.
Two Gold Star families criticized disparaging remarks President Donald Trump allegedly made about veterans and those serving in the military while recalling the memories of their sons. Trump made offensive comments about fallen U.S. service-members, including calling World War I dead at an American military cemetery in France “losers” and “suckers” in 2018. The comments were first reported by The Atlantic and confirmed by The Associated Press.
Where were you when the FUCKING PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES CALLED FALLEN SOLDIERS SUCKERS AND LOSERS? Where?
What about when the 280 pound Malignant Tumor said, “I don’t get it,” when Trump said to have questioned why retired Gen. John Kelly’s son fought in Afghanistan — during a Memorial Day visit to his grave! OMG!!!!!!
Every President makes tough decisions and at times military personnel die because of that decision. No other President has ever verbally disparaged fallen solider or their families like THE FUCKING LIAR IN CHIEF.
On another note, every goddamn day there are people being sentenced to years in prison because they believed that lying son-of-a-bitch. I just finished reading a story about a 65 year old man sentenced to 30 months in prison for having threatened REPUBLICAN voting officials in Arizona.
You make my skin crawl.
Your TDS is showing, Kevin. I thought you would be in ecstasy that he has been indicted.
Recalibrate your meds, man.
(Even The Atlinatic, btw, admitted the accusations were entirely anonymous, with no way to vet the accusation, and that they seemed conveniently timed.)
Ah yes, anonymous sources said Trump called troops “suckers and losers” this was confirmed by another source which cited the previous anonymous sources.
Sounds legit!
Did they also get a letter from 52 former intelligence officials and 42 nobel laureates agreeing those anonymous sources they’ve never seen or spoken to are legit?
This the same trip and “source” that claimed he tried to take over the steering wheel, jumping over his secret servicemen and breaking a security window shouting “I refuse to visit those suckers and losers!!”?
And btw, that article (if one could call it in “article” giving it an element of credibility it does not deserve) also claimed Trump missed the funeral in France because he didn’t want to mess up his hair (requires ignoring other funerals he attended with an umbrella). A FOIA release from the Navy confirmed they did not take a helicopter due to low visibility. I’m sure the same anonymous sources will dispute the Navy’s claim.
Rough day, Kevin? You need a safe space and your blankie? No, Joe Biden didn’t call the military personnel killed in the Afghanistan “withdrawal” losers or suckers. You’re absolutely correct.
He killed them, just as surely as if he triggered the bomb himself.
You have yourself a nice evening.
U.S. military commanders on the ground in Afghanistan made decisions that they could with the information that they had at the time.
Yes. That’s true in all cases. And it has nothing to do with the decisions – there and above them – wrong. “We did the best with what we had.” No, you didn’t; and even if you had, you’d still be wrong in the decisions you made. “We did our best” does not excuse failure. Used to be that military leaders understood that.
Having said that, using family members of personnel killed in the line of duty to achieve some moral high ground (remember Cindy Sheehan?) for your political ends is almost always a scummy tactic. It’s the same as trying to pretend being a veteran makes you bulletproof to legal or political accusations. You can criticize Biden’s handling of the mess leaving Afghanistan without making an emotional spectacle of it.

Good writeup Toni.
I was a little hesitant to read it due to the caption (I have a son serving currently, this subject is very worrying to me).
Glad I did, even if it angers me.
