Yesterday, California’s Senior Senator Dianne Feinstein was briefly hospitalized after a fall at her home. According to a statement from her office, she was released after it was found that all her scans were clear. You are now free to tip your hat and move smartly along.

It’s sad. Completely and pathetically sad. Not just the natural condition that Senator Feinstein finds herself in. A natural human condition of aging. What’s really sad is the obvious contempt with which her supporters hold the voters of California and the citizens of the United States. The unelected keepers think we are stupid and they hate us. And, I am not picking on DiFi alone. Kentucky’s Senior Senator Mitch McConnell is significantly younger (81), but just as fragile.

Anyhoo. The 90 (9-0) year old Dianne Feinstein fell in her home yesterday. She was taken to the hospital and checked out. All of her scans(!) were clear and she was released.

I have seen some photos where the Cryptkeeper actually looks better than Senator Feinstein. DiFi is not just a nonagenarian; she has suffered some recent illnesses that challenge the strongest athlete. New York Magazine’s Intelligencer lays it all out:

Concerns for Feinstein’s health and ability to perform her job have been circulating since at least 2020, when staff members for the senator told the New Yorker that her short-term memory was deteriorating to the point that she would forget a briefing moments after it happened. But the past year has amplified those concerns to a much greater level. Feinstein spent three months out of the Senate after being hospitalized because to shingles in February, and when she returned the left side of her face was frozen in place and aides pushed her around the Capitol in a wheelchair. She had not disclosed that the shingles had caused facial paralysis and a balance impairment. She also had a case of encephalitis — a rare complication from shingles — that her team claims was “resolved” in March.

Upon her return, Feinstein appeared confused in brief interactions with reporters, telling Slate that she was never on leave and that she had “been voting” the entire time she was recovering. She incorrectly claimed that she did not have encephalitis, but that it was just a “really bad flu.” Amid calls to step down, Feinstein also appeared confused at a hearing in late July, intending to deliver a speech on a Senate Appropriations Committee committee meeting when she was just supposed to vote yes or no. “Just say aye,” Committee chair Patty Murray told her. The ailing senator did as instructed.

Old age is not the barrier to service for me that youth is. AOC, need I say more. There comes a time when the actor must leave the stage. Like when you act and look like Dianne Feinstein. Just about everyone needs a power of attorney for financial and/or medical reasons. We are going to assume DiFi has had one for decades. Her daughter Katherine is a retired (??!!) judge and not only has legal power of attorney for her mother but has used it:

But the report of Feinstein’s daughter, Katherine Feinstein, 66, being given power of attorney for her mother comes after a moment of confusion for the democratic senator last month, when she began launching into remarks during a vote on an $823 billion military budget. Colleagues prompted her multiple times to simply vote “aye.”

Among the legal issues now being handled by the senator’s only child is a family dispute over the senator’s beach house near San Francisco, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Feinstein wants to sell the home, a step opposed by the children of her late husband Richard C. Blum, the Chronicle reported.

Color me jaded, but I doubt Senator Feinstein knows that she wants to sell the beach house.
