Hakeem Jeffries Loses Speaker Vote 15 Times, Gives Hack Speech

While the Left was barely concealing their rapture at the four days of open Republican negotiations for Speaker of the House, the consultant class of Republicans was swanning onto their fainting sofas while fanning themselves and stuttering. Cspan was must-see tv in the Williams Abode. We enjoyed it. A highlight was Mike Rodgers (AL) being held back from punching Matt Gaetz by Richard Hudson (NC). I have wanted to punch Gaetz for days. And, our Representative, Tim Burchett, was in the middle looking cornfused. However, watching Hakeem Jeffries give a hack victory speech after losing the Speaker’s role 15 times was the whip cream on the chocolate and caramel sundae.

Yes, it did take Kevin McCarthy 15 times to be nominated for Speaker of the House until he got the win. At the same time, Hakeem Jeffries got nominated for Speaker of the House 15 times and lost 15 times. The Democrats love their little fascist block and cannot expand their brains to see other options. Like say, negotiate with liberal Republicans to come over to their side. Would never occur to them. They are so beaten down by Nancy Pelosi’s reign of terror that they cannot think for themselves. And hateful rhetoric is all they have.

That is why when he got up to give his concession speech and turn over the gavel, Hakeem Jeffries used it to give a speech filled with embarrassing and ugly words. Keep a barf bag close at hand and watch the video of Jeffries’ speech:

My stars, if you read the comments after the video, Jeffries was a combination of Barack Obama, Abraham Lincoln and Winston Churchill. Wrong. The rhetorical tricks Jeffries used would not do an eleventh grade debate team any credit:

Mediaite did not see the irony in the headline atop of the wrap-up article: “Hakeem Jeffries Tells New Congress That Democrats Will Put ‘Maturity Over Mar-a-Lago’ in Rousing Speech as GOP Sits Quietly”. Critical thinking is not a “what counts” factor on the Left. Subtle is not big either and that is why the Left cannot meme. Hakeem Jeffries began by thanking EVERYONE on his side and then:

“We do extend our hand of partnership to you and want to make clear that we extend and intend to try to find common ground whenever and wherever possible on behalf of the American people,” Jeffries said to applause. “Not as Democrats, not as Republicans, not as independents, but as Americans. But I also want to make clear that we will never compromise our principles.”

While the Left was fan-girling over Jeffries, I just found the alphabet portion tedious and juvenile:

House Democrats will always put American values over autocracy, benevolence over bigotry, the Constitution over the cult, democracy over demagogues, economic opportunity over extremism, freedom over fascism, governing over gaslighting, hopefulness over hatred, inclusion over isolation, justice over judicial overreach, knowledge over kangaroo courts, liberty over limitation, maturity over Mar-a-Lago, normalcy over negativity, opportunity over obstruction, people over politics, quality of life issues over QAnon, reason over racism, substance over slander, triumph over tyranny, understanding over ugliness, voting rights over voter suppression, working families over the well-connected, xenial over xenophobia, “Yes we can” over “You can do it,” and zealous representation over zero-sum confrontation.

We will always do the right thing by the American people, so let us not grow weary of doing good for the American people who will reap the benefit of the harvest if we do not give up. God bless you, God Bless the house, and God bless the United States of America.

caned a Northern Senator.

On May 19, Massachusetts Senator Charles Sumner, an ardent abolitionist, began a two-day speech on the Senate floor in which he decried the “crime against Kansas” and blasted three of his colleagues by name, one of whom—South Carolina Senator Andrew P. Butler—was elderly, sick and absent from the proceedings.

Butler’s cousin, Representative Preston Brooks of South Carolina, who had a history of violence, took it upon himself to defend the honor of his kin. Wielding the cane he used for injuries he incurred in a duel over a political debate in 1840, Brooks entered the Senate chamber and attacked Sumner at his desk, which was bolted to the floor. Sumner’s legs were pinned by the desk so he could not escape the savage beating. It was not until other congressmen subdued Brooks that Sumner finally escaped.

The more you know! And, never forget, Kevin McCarthy only lost 14 times. Jeffries lost 15 times.

Beating politicians should be A Thing in this country.

Personally I think a caning now and then would not be uncalled for.

Once you say, “A NY liberal democrat named Hakeem” You need say no more!

  • Ah, yes. Matt Gaetz (and his “co-conspirators”) should be punched out. For the crime of ensuring that the Hakeem Jeffries agenda will not be realized. Which McCarthy was quite willing to do as the faux “Republican” Speaker – until he got brought up short.

Jeffries would certainly have liked to be called “Mister Speaker” – but he is far more upset that he won’t be the power behind the throne.
