The Taliban held a press conference today. And that’s a sentence I never thought I’d write. Ever. Yet here we are.
Just one day after Joe Biden’s cruelly disastrous speech, the Taliban spent over an hour with the media. Here are some key highlights from that press conference.
Amnesty:
The Taliban is promising amnesty for those who helped the United States and other International partners over the last twenty years. Except that there are already reprisals. Plus it is becoming more and more known that the Taliban is going house to house searching for Afghani’s who have supported the United States.
Terrorism:
The Taliban has promised that Afghanistan will no longer be a staging ground for terrorist actions, which means we won’t have to worry about Al Quaeda will we? Yeah, Taliban, pull the other leg
Censorship and Social Media:
It took me about ten minutes to stop laughing at this one. The Taliban literally lectured about social media censorship today. The Taliban, who will shut down or even kill ANYONE who doesn’t follow their rules!
On Tuesday, the chairman of the Taliban’s Military Commission, Mullah Yaqoub, reiterated orders that fighters in Kabul should not enter people’s homes or seize property. “No one is allowed to enter anyone’s house, particularly in Kabul, where we have entered recently and the situation is new,” he said.
But he coupled that with a warning, saying that the Taliban would be collecting weapons and government property in an organized manner and that looting state property was a betrayal of the country.
Which is also laughable because, in order for the Taliban to confiscate weapons, they have to show up at peoples homes and…go IN because you know Afghans aren’t just going to hand over their weapons unless forced to.
Safe Passage:
Even though the Taliban have cut off access to the airport, we are supposed to believe they will grant all American citizens (as well as the citizens from other countries still trapped there) safe passage to the airport??

This as the State Department tries to reassure everyone over there that the Taliban will just wave them on by as they travel to the airport. While also saying that our soldiers won’t be able to help any Americans who are trapped in their homes in Kabul.
American citizens are told they are on their own in Afghanistan.

So VERY reassuring isn’t it? Americans have been told they are on their own.
But No Grudges!!:
Supposedly Afghanistan is now independent and the Taliban won’t hold any grudges.
Women’s rights, within the limits of Sharia law:
The Taliban wants a diverse, inclusive government. So diverse and inclusive that women will have rights! Within the limits and bounds of Sharia law that is. Which means women will be headed back to work as journalists, doctors, bankers, and teachers…right? I mean, the Taliban has spoken so everything will be super fine…right?
Then why were store advertisements showing women’s faces painted over? Why are the schools and businesses being told to hand out head scarves to the women and girls? Why are Afghan women doing this?
Young and educated Afghan women tell me they are burning their degree certificates and diplomas, so that they won't be targeted by the Taliban fighters going door to door. This is beyond heartbreaking.

Even though the Taliban is spouting all the wonderful woke language that the left absolutely loves, the Afghan people know they are not to be trusted. Which is why women are in fear of their lives, and all of those who provided assistance with American and NATO forces are in hiding while frantically trying to figure out how to get themselves and their families out of the country.
The Taliban is not to be trusted, no matter how they spin it. Which is why thousands of Afghans stormed the airport over the last two days and seven died after trying to hang on to a C130 as it was taking off.
And finally, this.
Bowe Bergdahl Taliban exchange:
While the Taliban speaks with forked tongue throughout the press conference, THIS shows just how wrong the Obama/Biden foreign policy was.
You see, at least ONE of those GITMO terrorists, who was supposed to hang out in Qatar and never be a terrorist again, has been working to rebuild the Taliban. Those GITMO terrorists were the ones Obama and Biden exchanged for Bowe Bergdahl!
Whats even worse, is that the Obama Administration turned a blind eye to what they were doing. Furthermore, the Biden Administration met with them…THIS YEAR.
Earlier this year, one of them, Khairullah Khairkhwa, actually sat across the table from President Biden’s envoy to Afghanistan, Zalmay Khalilzad, in Moscow, where Khairkhwa was part of the official Taliban delegation that negotiated the final terms of the US withdrawal. The retreat cleared a path for the Taliban to retake power after 20 years.
“I started jihad to remove foreign forces from my country and establish an Islamic government, and jihad will continue until we reach that goal through a political agreement,” Khairkhwa said at the summit.
My takeaway from this Taliban press conference? Not matter all the pretty words, no matter that they seem open because press conferences, no matter that supposedly they don’t want their country to be used as a terrorist breeding ground, one thing is abundantly clear.
Do. Not. Trust. The. Taliban.

Blackwing1 says: One thing I found fascinating about the Talibs gathered in the presidential palace was the way in which they were holding their weapons. Prior to the last 5 years or so you never saw a picture of an Afghani holding a weapon but that their finger was on the trigger. Every single one of these men had their weapon pointed in a (relatively) safe direction, and even though it was with magazines locked in place, it was with their index/trigger finger PROMINENTLY outside the trigger guard and laid along the side of the receiver.
This is standard safety practice taught by the US military and contractors. This is NOT the practice of untrained goat herders.
Somehow I’m not doubting that they infiltrated the ANA for the sole purpose of getting a wide variety of training on weapons, maintenance, and tactics, and then exfiltrated back to their terrorist cells.
They may randomly execute people, but at least they won’t have any AD’s or ND’s.
