Two hundred forty-five years ago, our nation won its independence from England. Gone were the days of bending to the will of the crown. Since then, more than a few politicians have acted as if they want a. The only difference is they would be the one sitting on the throne in Washington D.C. But none of them have were as blatant about it as Nancy Pelosi. The wanna-be queen, who ignored her own rules and allowed a Covid-positive member of the House attend in order to insure her continued reign as Speaker, proved once again she believes she is the rightful ruler of our nation. The only thing missing is her declaration that it is a God-given crown.
Like any “good” monarch–perhaps dictator would be a better term–Pelosi says one thing but does another. Three days ago, when the House voted to impeach the President, she called him a “clear and present danger” to the nation.
So why is someone supposedly so worried about the safety of our nation holding back the articles of impeachment instead of sending them to the Senate? The answer’s simple: politics.
It is the same answer to the earlier question of why the House wasn’t passing additional Covid-19 relief. Sen. Bernie Sanders “admitted that fellow Democrats, led by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, were responsible for delaying urgently needed coronavirus relief by walking away from the White House’s offer of a $1.8 trillion coronavirus package.” Her hatred for Trump and everyone who supported him is so great she had no problem withholding much needed relief funds–and blaming the President for the delay.
So is it any surprise she’s playing fast and loose now?
Two days ago, she flexed her legislative power by refusing to forward the articles to the Senate even when senior Democrats urged her to do so. Her response? She’ll turn them over “when I’m ready.” Wow, that crown must look awfully good along side her designer masks. Perhaps it is also a little tight. What else explains her belief that she is the one in control of the country?
And why is her own party letting her get away with it?
As we get closer to Biden moving into the Oval Office, she seems to be digging in even firmer in an attempt to maintain control of Capitol Hill. Yesterday, she said it was “urgent” Trump be impeached but she continued to refuse to forward the articles to the Senate–or to say when she would do so. Her excuse? She claimed her priority is “ensuring the security of the Capitol and lawmakers before President-elect Joseph R. Biden Jr.’s inauguration on Wednesday.”
Wow, now she’s not only the wanna-be queen (or dictator), but a superhero as well who is going to hold back the ravening mobs of Trump supporters and protect her pal Joe.
Her other explanation–read that as excuse–for not forwarding the articles of impeachment to the Senate is she is giving the House time to “build its case” against the President. Wow! Can you imagine what would happen if a prosecutor announced to a judge that they wanted a suspect charged but they wouldn’t be proceeding to trial for some unknown period of time while they built their case? The judge would laugh the prosecutor out of the courtroom–and probably file a complaint with the Bar.
But she doesn’t care anything about appearances or fairness or, well, justice. For more than four years, she’s focused all her energy on destroying Donald Trump. She failed to do so with the first impeachment and now, by God, she’s going to do it. Or at least she thinks she is. But the only way to do so is to wait until the Dems have a small majority in the Senate and enough spineless Republicans (they hope) to impeach Trump after he leaves office.
Because he’s dangerous.
Riiiight.
And how much money will this latest debacle offered up as a sacrifice on the altar of Pelosi’s ego cost us?
Think I’m reading too much into Pelosi’s actions? Earlier this week, the Washington Post noted the Speaker is “once again, playing politics with impeachment.” That should be more than enough to have you thinking long and hard about her motivation. This isn’t to protect the nation. It sure as hell isn’t to protect Biden. It is all about massaging her ego and proving she has a bigger set of brass ones than Trump does.
It is unclear, however, whether at this late date, an impeachment trial is in the country’s best interests. It would divide the country, turn Trump into a martyr, and keep him front and center for months into Biden’s term. There is also the risk that he might be acquitted, because some Republicans might decide they cannot convict a president who has already left office, while others fear alienating constituents who just voted to give Trump a second term. Trump could then claim vindication. The best thing might be to let him simply leave in ignominy. But Pelosi seems to care more about politics and retribution than what is best for the country.”
We can only hope at this point that Pelosi is no better now at stacking the deck than she was earlier. Yes, the numbers are more favorable for her but those numbers aren’t yet written in stone. The danger to our nation comes if the Senate fails to convict him. Pelosi has proven she is a bitter woman who not only holds a grudge but nurses it. That could spell trouble for any member of Congress who doesn’t follow her edicts. It could also spell trouble for any state that did not fall into the Biden camp.
So what do we do?
There’s nothing we can do where Pelosi is concerned, at least not if you live outside her district. But we can put the pressure on our own representatives and senators. Let them know we expect justice, not a monkey trial choreographed by the would-be queen. Whether you are a Trump fan or not, her actions have one goal: to destroy our republic by putting the fear of God into any man or woman considering running for office who isn’t willing to kiss the ground the Speaker walks on and fall in line with her edicts.
It is time to remember the words of John Adams in the musical 1776. “Vote yes. Vote yes. Vote yes for independency.” In this case, it is independence from Pelosi and her lapdogs who make a mockery of our Constitution. We vote not just by going to the polls but by letting our voices be heard.

As of today, Harris has still to resign her Congressional seat….If she fails to do so by inauguration day, she forfeits her right to become the Vice-President as one cannot (lawfully) hold two seats simultaneously…….who then would be next in line?……….January 20th is going to be a very interesting day, indeed…
Your comment was made with an understanding of our Constitution and the premise that it is still the basis of our government. The problem is that we are well into the post-Constitution era, which can also be called post-republic.
I call it the Calvin Ball Era because from the federal government down to the smallest school board in the United States officials can make massive policy decisions on a whim. No legislative action. No debate. No scrutinization by an objective press. They change policies, rules, and laws privately and announce them to constituents through an e-mail.
Kamala Harris can do whatever she pleases.
Biden-Harris, Joey 25th amendmented by 1 Feb moving Harris up and Nancy to VP.
Then who knows? Harris has a reaction to Covid vaccine and Nancy moves up?
I read a similar plot in a Tom Clancy novel.
I was thinking more along the lines of George R.R. Martin. Tom Clancy could never come up with characters like these.
Pelosi: “l’etat c’est moi”?
Remember, Nancy Pelosi is the one who said on camera: “Donald Trump will never be President. You can take that to the bank.”
I think she’s been trying to get revenge ever since for him proving her wrong and making a fool of her.
Here’s the best portrayal of Nanny Legosi (though your drawing is awesome).. It’s scarily accurate..
