On Thursday, July 30, a day after the giants of the tech world appeared before the U.S. Congress, the Israeli Knesset had a repeat performance with much more interesting results. An executive with Twitter admitted that Twitter hearts Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of Iran. President Donald Trump, not so much.

At the U.S. Congress remote hearing, Jeff Bezos of Amazon, Sundar Pichai of Google, Tim Cook of Apple, and Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook, gave the Congressweenies the old razzle dazzle and tap danced around every issue. These four wizards of smart testified to the pure, heart of gold, altruistic motives of their organizations:

Each of the tech executives took great pains to stress their contributions to the U.S. economy. Amazon described itself as one of the most popular consumer brands, where consumers can get their goods quickly and cheaply. Apple said it had enabled a wildly popular ecosystem of apps and widely prized, high-end phones to match. Facebook said it had stood for free expression and speech against a rising tide of international censorship, pointing to new competitors including TikTok. And Google said its tools made it possible for people to find information and businesses worldwide to grow.

They are all about free speech. They censor no one. Although I want to find the Facecrack fact checkers and “Oops, upside their heads”.

Noticeably absent from the U.S. Congress hearing was Jack Dorsey or anyone representing the sewer of the internet, Twitter. At the remote Knesset hearing, Twitter sent Ylwa Pettersson. Her Linked In profile shows that Miss Pettersson is the Head of Public Policy, Government & Philanthropy for the Nordics & Israel at Twitter. I don’t know why Pettersson would be unprepared for a question about censorship of President Donald Trump. Maybe she is unaware of the close relationship between Israel and the United States. Or, maybe because she held previous positions at the United Nations, she is predisposed to be biased against the United States and Israel.

Trump warns rioters not to burn our Capitol city and that is bad, bad. But, “Death to Israel” from Khamenei is not?

Back in May, Israel sent a letter to Twitter regarding the Twitter censorship:

Strategic Affairs Minister Orit Farkash-Hacohen sent a letter to Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey on Monday calling for the “immediate suspension” of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s account “over his consistent posting of anti-Semitic and genocidal posts,” her ministry said in a statement.

Here is a Khamenei tweet:

Donald Trump’s tweet telling rioters not to torch the Capitol is bad. Twitter hearts Ayatollah Khamenei’s call for the uprooting of Israel. We can argue among ourselves whether Trump’s tweets are helpful to our national conversation, and we do. Ayatollah Khamenei ordered 1500 of his own people killed. There is a huge difference. Iran defends the execution of LGBT persons. What the heck, Twitter. Have you no conscious?

All we ask for is a level playing field with these techie types. They love dictators and despots but censor our President.
