Socialism-Coming to a City Council Near You?

Socialism-Coming to a City Council Near You?

In many states around the country, it is primary season and that means that the informed among us are spending time watching debates, reading interviews and researching candidates for everything from city council to senator. I know that sometimes it starts to feel like we are drowning in information about certain candidates-but there is one word of caution I have for you this primary season do your homework! Am I referring to ensuring that each candiate you vote for fits your every political hot button perfectly? No, I am asking you to educate yourself and others because there is a dangerous movement afoot across the country-the return of Socialism.

Now, I know you are probably rolling your eyes and saying “Really? Come on!” but believe me the Red Menace is back and is spreading like wildfire across the nation. Socialist groups across the country have been emboldened by the victory of Kshama Sawant (you might remember her from Deanna’s blog posting yesterday) in being elected to the Seattle city council.  Since yesterday was May Day, a day celebrated by Socialists everywhere, the Chicago Socialist Campaign announced that they will be running a candidate for city council in that city next year. Lest you think these people are stupid, be warned-this is well planned. If you look at the demographics of the neighborhood that the 25th ward (the ward he will run as alderman in) it is ground well primed for a Socialist take over since it encompasses the University of Illinois and Chinatown.

Remember these folks? They’re back!

If you are thinking “Well that could never happen in my city!”-think again. In Boston last fall there was Seamus Whelan, a registered nurse who ran as a “Socialist alternative” for the “99%”-does this sound familiar at all? It should! The 99% was a core issue within the Occupy movement that gripped the nation two summers ago.  If you have forgotten, or simply blanked out, all the pictures of the Occupiers across the nation, let me refresh your memory. That “spontaneous” movement was driven by Socialists.  After all when a New Y0rk Post reporter (Charles Gasparino) calls Socialists out-you know it is bad.

“It’s not an overstatement to describe Zuccotti Park as New York’s Marxist epicenter. Flags with the iconic face of the Marxist revolutionary Che Guevara are everywhere; the only American flag I saw was hanging upside down. The “occupiers” openly refer to each other as “comrade,” and just about every piece of literature on offer (free or for sale) advocated socialism in the Marxist tradition as a cure-all for the inequalities of the American economic system.

Don’t try to explain to any of these protesters how those who sought to create a Marxist utopian dream of revolution also gave us the Stalinist purges, Mao’s bloody Cultural Revolution and many other efforts to collectivize thought in the name of economic “justice.”

Because God forbid you try to teach these idiots some history! For my readers in Portland please be sure to head on over to Daylight Disinfectant to educate yourselves on the city’s Socialist menace who is running for city council, Nick Caleb who used an appearance of Ms. Sawant in the city to tell us that “Capitalism is insane”. I propose that what is insane is a well organized (and funded) effort to return to  a political system that has a huge body count throughout history in multiple nations across the globe in 2014.

They system you are referring to is capitalism. That is one of the reasons it’s insane. We’ve started, instigated and fought wars for more than the last half a century in the name of keep capitalism the dominant economic system in this world. How many more people have to die so our corporations can steal the resources of other nations and outsource our jobs to their low wage economies? How many wars have been started by socialist nations in the last few decades? How many by capitalist nations?
