Will Republicans Pass Or Fold On The One Big Beautiful Bill?

Today, the Republicans in the House take up the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. Thanks to J.D. Vance and his tie-breaking vote Trump’s bill passed the Senate. Will the House Republicans pass or fold on this legislation? I have been calling Republicans “boneless chickens” of late and the analogy is apt. Definitely no spines and can’t even hold up their puny arms.

The One Big Beautiful Bill Act is a legislative abortion. It was bad enough before the Senate got their thieving claws on it. Then, they blamed the chick Parliamentarian for things they wanted. But, all things considered, it’s the best we have got and the best we will get…for a while.

Chronic kvetcher Chip Roy has let us know where he stands. From the Daily Caller:

Republican Texas Rep. Chip Roy said on Tuesday that he cannot currently vote in favor of President Donald Trump’s “big, beautiful bill.”

Roy stated in a clip obtained exclusively by the Daily Caller News Foundation on “I’m Right with Jesse Kelly” that the current version of the legislation is continuing to raise the deficit, fund Medicare for illegal immigrants, hand over taxpayer dollars to fund sex changes for children and restrict Planned Parenthood for a year. The congressman, a member of the House Rules Committee, said that himself and many other Republicans are willing to vote against the bill in its current form.

“The swamp is gonna swamp. And if the administration isn’t willing to lean on everybody and say ‘end this craziness,’ then why am I on the hook to vote for a bill just so I can get some tax cuts and border, which is what I want, but I don’t want all the spending,” Roy said. “Here we are.”

YHGTBFKM! Did that quote say “some tax cuts”? If you don’t pass this bill, it will be the largest tax increase EVAH! And “border”? Do you understand the damage unrestricted illegal immigration does to every community across this great land? Chip Roy’s condescending dismissal of these important facts is foul. Roy needs to get it together.

The One Big Beautiful Bill Act was bad enough before the Senate got its vile claws on it, but it’s a beginning. From The Hill:

“The last-minute changes in the Senate, like literally, the very last amendment, probably added like a $100 billion to that deficit by adding in some of the green new scam subsidies. The bottom line is this is not ready for prime time,” Harris echoed. “We support the president’s agenda, the president’s agenda was not to raise the deficit by three-quarters of a trillion dollars over the next 10 years. The bottom line is now the House is going to have its say. This is not gonna sail through the House, we’re going to have to negotiate with the Senate one more time, and that’s just appropriate. That’s the way the legislative process works and the way it should work on a bill of this size.”

Get the One Big Beautiful Bill passed and move on to the next thing.

My Congresscritter Tim Burchett is also a possible no on the bill and was called to the White House this morning. He wasn’t sure if he was being called to Wood Shed or not. Before he went in, he asked how concerned we were about the deficit.

My answer was “of course”, but we can’t get everything at one. Burchett didn’t threaten to hold his breath or anything. He posted on X two hours later when he left the White House along with Byron Daniels et al.:

That’s the cheerful warrior attitude we need. The boneless chickens in the House need to get their shite together and get this thing passed. Is this what I want? No. Is it a start? Hale yeah!

  • Roy is either stupid or lying. At least on one thing – kicking illegals off of Federal funded Medicare. As Senator Schmitt explains:

“Here’s where the rumor came from: During yesterday’s vote-a-rama, an amendment banning Medicaid for illegal immigrants was voted down. The clip of that vote started circulating online—and folks took that to mean that the provision had been stripped from the bill altogether.

But that was just one of many “messaging amendments,” designed to force Democrats to vote against specific provisions—in this case, a ban on some Medicaid funding for illegal aliens who commit heinous crimes—on the record. It was meant to show the public how radical they are.

The ban itself was ALREADY in the bill. It was never taken out. And it wasn’t just a ban on some Medicaid for illegal immigrants who commit heinous crimes—it applies to ALL Medicaid for ALL illegal immigrants. (And most noncitizens generally).

The bill we passed actually goes much further—beyond banning Medicaid for 1.4 million illegal aliens, it:

    • Requires states to verify citizenship status before providing coverage

    • Bans automatic Medicaid enrollment for children of illegal aliens

    • Excludes DACA from Medicaid”
