While three clearly deranged liberal law professors twisted the Constitution to make a case for the impeachment of President Trump, White House Counsel Pat Cipollone and the GOP Senators were “plotting” how to respond at a luncheon meeting, according to Politico. The Democrats Representatives have told Nancy Pelosi they are “all in” on impeaching Trump. Wouldn’t it be galactically stupid for the Republicans and the White House not to plan next steps? The answer is yes.

According to Politico and National Public Radio, the luncheon on Capitol Hill included GOP Senators, WH Counsel Cipollone and former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi (love her), now on the Trump team. Additionally, Trump communications guru Tony Sayegh and WH Legislative Affairs Director Eric Ueland attended.

Politico’s use of the word “plotting” lends a nefarious note to the luncheon. Planning for the impeachment is what these players MUST do. The Democrats, led by Schiff, have been plotting to take out the President since November, 2016. It’s way past time that the Republicans plotted for the future of the Republic. Yesterday, the Democrats on the dais and the professors at the table, made it very clear that their venomous hatred of the President means they will stop at nothing.

Now, about that luncheon, according to Politico:

“They just wanted to help us get an understanding of where they’re coming from and how they see it,” added Senate Majority Whip John Thune (R-S.D.). “It was an opportunity for our members to ask questions and for some to offer comments.”

That sounds right to me. Get to know each other, use each other as sounding boards to bounce ideas around, and lay out the broad strokes. The WH and the Senators can’t nail down the details since the Democrats are still focus-grouping what words will gin up the public call for impeachment.

National Public Radio reported that Communications Director Ueland said:

“We believe that the president’s rights need to be expansively respected, including the opportunity to call witnesses and have the opportunity to cross examine witnesses as part of a trial process,” Ueland said. “The president wants his case made fully in the Senate, including the full trial and that’s a point we are going to make consistently.”

Despite the fact that House Democrats have tried to neuter and declaw the House Republicans, the GOP is fighting back. Steve Chabot, of Ohio, gave it to Chairman Nadler yesterday:

All the Democrats have eaten their words from the 1998 Impeachment Trial of President Bill Clinton. And, please, let us all remember that Clinton was not impeached for having an affair in the White House with an intern. Clinton was impeached for lying under oath and suborning perjury. That’s a huge distinction. The Democrats are trying to rewrite history and say it was an impeachment about sex.

Nancy Pelosi wants impeachment by Christmas. Merry Christmas, ya filthy animals. The Senate has blocked off January, the month, for the trial. After the Schiff show we have been through, I hope they take the entire month. From Politico:

Timing for the impeachment trial remains uncertain.

The Senate’s legislative calendar, released Wednesday, includes an ominous blank spot for the month of January, a reminder that the proceedings surrounding impeachment are fluid. Although the details for an impeachment trial remain unclear, Senate Republicans said they can guarantee at least one thing: Trump’s defense will be heard.

“Should the proceeding come to this body, we’ll respect due process far more than the House has done. And we’ll conduct a fair and open process, both sides I believe will be allowed to present their case,” said Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas). “The White House will be allowed to defend themselves.”

Happy New Year Impeachment! The longer this drama goes on, the more the Democrats have exposed themselves as totally deranged. On the other hand, many of us are sick to death of this psychodrama and would like to move on to something for fun, like say, the budget process.
