Welcome Tulsi Gabbard To The Republican Party, But Remember

Last night at the Trump Rally in Greensboro, North Carolina, Tulsi Gabbard made the stunning “surprise” announcement that she has joined the Republican Party. Welcome her and Mazel Tov. She is bright, telegenic and well-spoken. No party can possibly have too many of those types. Liz Cheney and Tulsi both entered the Transfer Portal, we lucked out. We traded old, bitter and unreliable for young, happy and a stand-up girl. Yay us. But remember Tulsi has been in politics for a lifetime. Her politics have changed or evolved, but are still Liberal.

In case you missed the announcement last night, here is Miss Gabbard declaring her new party:

From Not the Bee:

I’m proud to stand here with you today, President Trump, and announce that I’m joining the Republican Party. I am joining the party of the people. The party of Equality. The party that was founded to fight against and end slavery in this country. It is the party of common sense and the party that is led by a president who has the courage and strength to fight for peace.

Well said, Lt. Colonel Gabbard.

From a Bernie Bro in 2016 to a Trump Surrogate and the Republican Party in 2024 is a heckuva trip. Tulsi’s growth and the sclerosis of the Democrat Party are both to blame. More Tulsi from the New York Post:

“You know, I was a Democrat for over 20 years. Today’s Democrat Party is completely unrecognizable, which points to the clear choice that we have in this Election Day,” continued Gabbard, who is a member of Trump’s transition team.

“When you look at the party of Kamala Harris, for example, she is anti-freedom. She is pro-censorship, she is pro-open borders and she is pro-war without even pretending to care about peace.”

Gabbard, a veteran, blasted “warmongers” — like former Republican Vice President Dick Cheney and his daughter, former GOP Wyoming Sen. Liz Cheney — for supporting Harris, 59, and “who care more about power and feeding the military-industrial complex than they care about you, the American people, and peace.

“President Trump has pledged to end wars, not start them. And this is why, in the eyes of the Kamala Harris-Dick Cheney Democrat Party, they will do everything possible to try to destroy him,” she added, accusing them of weaponizing the federal government “to try to silence him.”

“This man has the courage to take them on and root out the deep rot of corruption and the swamp in Washington.”

Agreed. That’s why we love Trump.

With Tulsi Gabbard, we have to remember that she first won public office at the age of 21. She’s been around forever and she’s only 43. Very, very young. Plus, she’s had a great military career while being a public servant. She works like a beast:

Her departure from the Democrats two years ago, after being a Bernie Bro makes sense. From the Econo Times:

“I can no longer remain in today’s Democratic Party that is now under the complete control of an elitist cabal of warmongers,” Gabbard said. “They are driven by cowardly wokeness, and I’ve had enough. It’s time for real change, and I believe that change can be found within the Republican Party.”

“Elitest cabal of warmongers”? Oh hale yeah. We are looking at Liz Cheney, Hillary Clinton, Kamala Harris and Joe Biden.

Tulsi Gabbard has been persona non grata to the War Party for about four years. This includes them tailing Tulsi in airports.

I would like clarification on Tulsi’s Medicare for All stance:

Also, Tulsi used to be Pro-Life, but got more Liberal. How does she feel about the Fed and CBDC (Central Bank Digital Currency)?

These are only clarifications. Welcome to the Republican Party.

When I hear Gabbard go on about warmongers I hear the rhetoric of Cold War communist stooges. Now maybe that is just a hangover from her days as a Bernie Bro or just maybe she is letting slip her real politics. Like Junior, her deviation from the party line had sent her into the political wilderness and not necessarily into a John Dos Passos or Whitaker Chamber epiphamy. I remain skeptical about her sincerity of change.

Same for me. Not all of us conservatives are cheering this conversion story. Thank you.

    • GWB says:

She was happy riding the Progressive bus. Until it drove right past her stop and kept on going toward the upper reaches of a fundamentalist Progressive utopia.

She’s changing lines not to go all the way back to the beginning, but to just get back to HER Progressive stop along the way.

  • Cameron says:

I’m happy to hear about her change of heart but I still believe in Trust but Verify. Her anti gun stance for years is a warning to me.

  • GWB says:

Yes, please remember that all these people joining “our side” are NOT changing their principles. They are still Progressives. They’re just Progressives who think their own team has gone too far. Like Methodists who support all the woke, anti-Christian stuff, but suddenly find requiring vegan dishes at the Sunday potlucks is a step too far. It still won’t make them Fundamentalists.

This has been my problem with Trump: he is not a conservative. At least, not if you define it as a strict constitutional federalist and Christian morals and principles. Which is how I think the Founders would have described it. Trump is pro-constitution, up to a point I think, and very pro-American, which sets him apart (YUGELY apart) from all the globalists in our government and the many who would trash the Constitution to use gov’t power to accomplish their Progressive utopia. But he will not bring us to some conservative golden age – that will require changing enough hearts and minds of the electorate back to understanding and believing those things mentioned.

(I am not bashing Trump in saying this. He is still light years in front of even most Republicans in government. But he can’t “fix” our country and restore it, from the conservative perspective. The most he can do is give us the opportunity to evangelize more people to our side – truly to our side – and to train up more political leaders who can work to diminish the national gov’t’s power.)

    • Cameron says:

The critiques about Trump are fair. My main hope is that if he wins, it pulls the fangs of a lot of the anti-American types that have been openly working to destroy this country.

Welcome Tulsi Gabbard To The Republican Party, But Remember. . .

you’ll never be able to explain your prior support of the evil satanic-communist mfn (D).

Welcome to the Party, but don’t ask for a top spot now.

    • John Shepherd says:

A person can switch parties and get to the top spot if they are centrists. See Ronald Reagan, Donald Trump and Wendel Wilkie. If they are at the extremes then it’s unlikely.
