USAID Wasn’t An Aid Organization, It Was A $50 Billion Slush Fund

USAID diverted from it’s original mission a very long time ago. It’s not been an AID or international development organization. Instead it turned into a $50 billion slush fund.

Staffers of the U.S. Agency for International Development were instructed to stay out of the agency’s Washington headquarters on Monday, according to a notice distributed to them, after billionaire Elon Musk announced President Donald Trump had agreed with him to shut the agency.

USAID staffers said they also tracked more than 600 employees who reported being locked out of the agency’s computer systems overnight. Those still in the system received emails saying that “at the direction of Agency leadership” the headquarters building “will be closed to Agency personnel on Monday, Feb. 3.”

The developments come after Musk, who’s leading an extraordinary civilian review of the federal government with the Republican president’s agreement, said early Monday that he had spoken with Trump about the six-decade U.S. aid and development agency and “he agreed we should shut it down.”

Of course government officials tried to block DOGE from entering and taking a deep dive into the books amid claims that the DOGE team doesn’t have the necessary security clearances.

The Trump administration’s purge of dozens of senior officials at the U.S. Agency for International Development encountered resistance on Thursday when the career employee who carried out the original directive rescinded it, calling the purge an “illegal” violation of “due process.”

Really guys? A violation of due process? Just because you are a government agency, that doesn’t mean that you can or should hide what you are doing from the taxpayers who’ve been funding you whether we like it or not. What are you hiding?

OH.

Talk about stepping on a giant rake! The question is, if Bill Kristol and his Bulwark organization are so good at thwarting Trump, do they need funding from USAID via the Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors to conduct business? This taxpayer didn’t agree to that and is thrilled that Billy’s funding spigot just dried up!

The mission of USAID was to help with assistance and development in third world countries. Which leads one to believe that this would be funding for schools, hospitals, and infrastructure such as water tanks, communication towers, utilities, etc. And USAID might have been doing some of that but that’s not all they’ve been doing.

It seems they funded Burisma a time or two, why? Why was opium growth in Afghanistan being funded?

How many domestic and international NGO’s have been funded by USAID and for how long? Why were Soros prosecutors funded? Why was censorship and disinformation being funded?

And then, via our friends at Legal Insurrection, we find out that EcoHealth Alliance has benefitted on several occasions.

So Peter Daszak and EcoHealth Alliance were being funded by multiple US government spigots. Lovely. How much of that funding went to the the Wuhan labs in China, and didn’t ensure good biosafety while conducting gain of function research? Keep in mind, when HHS shut down EcoHealth funding in 2022, USAID was mentioned. But many, including myself, thought that was just a pass-through from HHS. Nope. There were two separate funding streams.

EcoHealth Alliance even admits there were two, if not more, funding streams from American taxpayers in their little screed against CBS in 2023.

The CBS News story showed images of budget costs for lab supplies and insinuated that because medical equipment, supplies, travel, and salaries were paid for under the two different projects, that is indicative of double-billing. This is not true, and just reflects misinterpretation of the grant records. The interviewee’s statement that “What I’ve found so far is evidence that points to double-billing, potential theft of government funds” is also unsubstantiated by evidence. Again, the work conducted under these two separate lines of funding was assessed for potential duplication of effort and approved following joint U.S. government agency review, then reported on annually by the grantee, reviewed by the NIH and by USAID, and deemed appropriate and correct. It was also audited independently each year, with no issues identified.

Uh huh. Who were the reviewers? Who conducted the “independent” audits? We don’t know because USAID kept that information under lock and key. What’s astounding is that this agency has such a large budget.

So yes, I’d say shut it down and comb through the records to find out what else we’ve been funding without our knowledge.

And for those who are yammering about how you need Congress to shut this entity down, no you don’t. It is an agency under the Executive Branch that was signed into being via Executive Order by… President John F. Kennedy.

Yes, the Democrats are indeed throwing tantrums over this, but stayed silent on the student loans. They stayed silent while knowing Joe Biden wasn’t fit for office and didn’t say one word about his end-runs around the Constitution.

Every single government agency is and should be answerable to all Americans. The fact that they don’t want to be is telling.

What was set up by Executive Order, can be shut down by Executive Order. Shut it down. Shut it all down NOW.

I’m old enough to remember when VP Kamala Harris made a well-publicized and widely lauded (in the mainstream press) visit to Mexico and Central America to determine the causes of migration, violence and poverty there and determined strategies the U.S. government could follow to address those problems.

Seems funny that I don’t recall any mention of USAID as part of that.
