Today is the day, everyone. Today is Inauguration Day, and Donald Trump is going to be sworn in as the 47th President of the United States – and only the second president to serve non-consecutive terms.
I’m reminded of the story told of Frances Cleveland, when Grover Cleveland lost after his first term.
When Cleveland lost the 1888 election to Benjamin Harrison, Frances prepared to leave the White House, but one recollection recounted her comments to a White House employee: “Now, Jerry, I want you to take good care of all the furniture and ornaments in the house, and not let any of them get lost or broken, for I want to find everything just as it is now, when we come back again.” This prophetic statement ultimately came true. The Clevelands moved to New York City where Frances gave birth to her first child Ruth in 1891 and participated in philanthropic work. They returned to the White House following the election of 1892.
I’m certain Melania Trump never said something like that, but she likely shares the sentiment.
As I reflect on the last four years, the emotion that is overwhelming me today is RELIEF. The Biden presidency is over. How he managed to be president for four years without seriously injuring himself on a flight of stairs, or tripping on a stage, or falling off his bicycle, is beyond me. But the physical survival is beside the point. Joe Biden is in the grip of a severe cognitive decline that is not going to improve with age. As the tell-all books begin to be written, as the people around him start making bank on their stories of “what Biden did” during the last four years, we are gradually going to become more and more horrified that the lie that Biden was “sharp as a tack” was spread like so much manure over a garden bed. Not that Biden himself has the self-awareness to realize that he is leaving office with his lowest approval rating ever.

Uh, Joe? You kind of ARE leaving. Apparently he and shadow president soon-to-be-former First Lady Jill will take off after the inauguration for a “vacation” in California, and then go home to Delaware, where Jill will take up her caregiver duties and make sure Joe doesn’t wander straight into the Atlantic Ocean when he’s on the beach.
But enough dwelling on the end of Grandpa Brandon’s disaster of a presidency. The women of Afghanistan will never forget him, I’m sure, but the American people are ready to move forward. Just as Americans were ready to shake off the malaise of the Carter administration, we are ready for a new day to dawn. Like before, it is morning in America, again.
And Donald Trump is ready, too. He did a full rally at the Capital One Arena on Sunday, where he promised to hit the ground running.
“You’re going to see something tomorrow. You’re going to see executive orders that are going to make you extremely happy. Lots of them, lots of them. We have to set our country on a proper course. By the time the sun sets tomorrow evening, the invasion of our borders will have come to a halt and all the illegal border trespassers will, in some form or another, be on their way back home,” Trump said during his rally on Sunday.
Fox News Digital exclusively reported earlier Sunday that Trump will sign more than 200 executive actions on his first day in office.
“Every radical and foolish executive order of the Biden administration will be repealed within hours of when I take the oath of office,” Trump said. “You’re going to have a lot of fun watching television tomorrow.”
“The American people have given us their trust, and in return, we’re going to give them the best first day, the biggest first week, and the most extraordinary first 100 days of any presidency in American history. To implement this historic agenda, I have assembled an all-star cabinet of patriots and visionary reformers for America, and together we will win, win, win for America,” he said before giving a shout out to his cabinet picks.
Trump wrapped up his speech vowing to Make America Great Again – noting “it all starts tomorrow” after his inaugration.
“We put America first, and it all starts tomorrow. When I raise my hand or they vote to be sworn as your. We’ll be sworn in tomorrow. We’re all going to be sworn in together. That’s the way I look at it,” he said.
Trump reiterated a lot of the same comments at the Inauguration Eve dinner, with Melania standing by his side.
So, what does Trump have planned for today? For starters, this:
Good!!

Considering that that letter was absolute bullshit “suggested” by Antony Blinken in order to give Joe Biden some cover during a debate, EXCELLENT. There is reportedly a lot more to come.
A senior administration official who is familiar with the executive actions and authorized to brief Fox News Digital said Trump on day one will end “Catch and Release;” pause all offshore wind leases; terminate the electric vehicle mandate; abolish the Green New Deal; withdraw from the Paris Climate Accord; and take several major steps to assert presidential control over the federal bureaucracy.
The official said Trump will sign multiple “omnibus” executive orders that each contain dozens of major executive actions.
There are also reportedly pardons in the works for many January 6th prosecutions.
As everyone can see from the rallies and the speeches, there is a sense of anticipation for this inauguration that I don’t ever remember. Not even in 2001, when the country was just getting over eight years of Bill and Hillary Clinton (plus the drama of Bush v. Gore), and not in 2017, when we had dodged the Hillary Clinton bullet and were watching Donald Trump be sworn in for the first time. In 2017, we didn’t know what to expect. Today, in 2025, we do. And that makes all the difference.
We can’t say that the second Trump term is going to be perfect. It won’t be. But it WILL be better than the last four years, and that is worth celebrating.
Happy Inauguration Day!

There will be a lot of screeching from the left over all of this. And I will bask in it.
President Trumps top priorities are clear: defend the natural rights of ALL Americans, in particular economic freedom and safety/security—whether in public or in our homes. (Note: for CA politicians: includes fire safety; for CO politicians: includes safety from gangs invading your apartment building; for NY politicians: when riding the subway; for Illinois politicians: getting shot in the cities; etc.)
Victory Girls: thanks for 4 years of inspiring columns while enduring the Biden Administration.
As expected, in its last hours, the Biden Junta pardoned all the real criminals of the last few years – Fauci, Milley, the J6 Star Chamber, the cops that murdered people in the Capitol.
Trump won’t do this, of course – he is a better man than I am, and will follow the Constitution and the norms that follow from it – but I would issue preemptive pardons for anyone who eliminates this scum from the face of the earth.
