Trish Regan Of Fox Business Joins The Gun Grabbers

Trish Regan, host of Trish Regan Primetime on Fox Business News, has joined the calls for President Trump to effect gun control. The cable news host claims that this gun control could be Trump’s “Nixon-in-China moment.”

The mass killings by deranged killers last week in El Paso and Dayton have, apparently, unhinged Miss Regan. She has been a vocal supporter of President Trump, but has never before really taken on gun control. Now, Mediate reported:

Regan, though, seems to have faith in Trump’s latest epiphany on gun violence. And she has notably broken from conservative orthodoxy and repeatedly voiced her support for more gun control measures — including an assault weapons ban — in the wake of the El Paso and Dayton mass shootings.

“Thank you, President Trump. Thank you for saying that. It needs to be said,” Regan exclaimed on her Friday show after playing a clip of Trump endorsing mental health restrictions on gun ownership. “You don’t want people who are mentally ill having guns or access to guns. The funny thing about all this, not that there is anything funny about it because this very serious, but I imagine that, right about now, the NRA is wishing Barack Obama was still in office, right? Because, who would’ve thought that a conservative, endorsed by the the NRA, would actually be out there looking at so many common sense measures and reforms? I’ll tell you, this could be this president’s Nixon in China moment.”

Here is the the video from Fox Business Network with the host and John Fredericks, a Trump 2020 adviser:

“Intelligent”, “meaningful” and “common sense” background checks are nice sounding words and phrases that mean exactly squat. We already have a federal law for background checks on firearms sold through licensed dealers. And, you may not legally own a gun if:

Were convicted of a crime that carried a sentence of more than one year, or a misdemeanor that carried a sentence of over two years
Are a fugitive (i.e. there’s a felony or misdemeanor warrant for your arrest)
Are an addict
Are diagnosed mentally ill, which can include being involuntarily committed, found not guilty by reason of insanity, or found unfit to stand trial
Reside in the US illegally
Are dishonorably discharged from the military
Had a restraining ordered issued against you (i.e. found guilty of harassing, stalking, or threatening a partner or the child of your partner)
Were convicted of domestic violence (i.e. convicted of using or threatening to use a deadly weapon against a spouse, former spouse, parent, guardian of the victim, etc.)
Have renounced your US citizenship

And, since the weapons used in El Paso and Dayton were legally purchased, the cretins who committed the crimes met all of the above requirements. The Charleston Church killer was able to purchase his weapon legally because the incompetent FBI took longer than three days to complete his background check. The killer should not have been able to legally purchase a gun. The Parkland school shooter legally purchased his weapon. He was mentally ill but privacy laws prevented that from being known. Saoirse Kennedy Hill, who recently committed suicide, wrote about this problem when she was in college and the New York Post recently had a column on the privacy law problem.

I could go on with the list, but you get the idea.

Trump and the unhinged gun grabbers are all excited about “red flag” legislation, which as it’s being discussed, is highly problematic. Nina wrote about red flag issues and you can read her post here.

Dana Loesch, former NRA spokeswoman, got into a Twitter squabble with Miss Regan:

Miss Regan, it’s not about the NRA. The NRA is a red herring/bogeyman. The Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States guarantees that the right to bear arms shall not be infringed. There are about 100 million firearm owners in the United States. Most people own more than one firearm. Only about 10 percent of firearms owners belong to the NRA. If the weapons were the problem, more people would be dead.

What if, instead of going gun grabbing, we did a deep dive into the individual mass murderers and their pathologies? That would require logic and probity, Miss Regan. What if communities communicated with each other about dangerous people in their midst. That would require local response, Miss Regan.

What we don’t need, Miss Regan, is more federal intrusion.

The bulk of DC, The Swamp, already act as if they are The Peoples’ boss.
And yet they want us to agree to be disarmed further? National ‘background check’?
Our first President was right: “Firearms are second only to the Constitution in importance; they are the peoples’ liberty’s teeth.”
And DC cannot know where the guns are: “The very atmosphere of firearms anywhere and everywhere restrains evil interference – they deserve a place of honor with all that’s good.”

Lose our guns. Lose our Republic.

tools are not the problem. If they were, their would be dead in the streets everywhere. the problem to me is “gun free zones” both of these mass shootings occurred in “gun free” areas. (Simon properties and the bar)
now there were also 20 other “mass shootings” (by media definition) that same weekend. 3 by Hispanics and 17 by blacks. in Democrat controlled inner cities. not a peep.

Well, they passed the NIC check, and we haven’t heard that something slipped through. But the guy in Sutherland Springs, TX passed his NIC check, too, despite his convictions.

    BAN assault weapons
NONE OF THEM HAVE USED AN ACTUAL ASSAULT WEAPON.
    Stop saying this stupid sh*t!

the majority of Americans support this
So f*ing what? The Constitution’s Bill of Rights was formulated SPECIFICALLY to prevent the majority from taking away our rights. It’s why the Founders didn’t build a democracy but a Constitutional Republic.

What if, instead of going gun grabbing, we did a deep dive into the individual mass murderers and their pathologies?
Hey, what if we did a deep dive into our societal pathologies that are enabling these people? The nihilism, the 24/7 media (looking at you Miss Regan), ‘social media’, the hedonism, etc.
Some people might be surprised if they gave it an honest look.

But, it’s a lot easier to just take away the tool involved, regardless of the long-term consequences.

Trish didn’t just join the gun grabbers…her ugly alter ego exploded from her chest like the thing from alien busting from that poor guy’s gut in the movie, the moment she spoke on the subject. What a ‘tude!

    And, S.E. Cupp, as well.
(Though I’m not sure her ‘libertarian’ bona fides have been valid for about 3 years.)
