The Miami Herald Swims in Epstein’s Dirty Swamp

In a desperate attempt to link anything tawdry and salacious to Trump, the Miami Herald gets itself dirty. The recent investigative piece on accused child sex abuser Jeffery Epstein attempts to link him by way of Department of Labor Secretary Acosta. Despite numerous investigations into the depth of the Trump-Epstein link, nothing has been proven beyond social acquaintanceship. That’s not to say sex-trafficker and predator Jeffery Epstein is lacking for the support of heavy weight hitters. But the Miami Herald is minimizing the strong ties to Bill Clinton, Allen Dershowitz, and other 0.001 percenters. While they all but blame then Federal Prosecutor Acosta. The day late, and dollar short connection to Trump is chump change in Epstein’s bank of protection.

A Jump in the Infiniti Cesspool

The story of Jeffery Epstein’s long time abuse of young girls is prominently covered. Everything from his “Lolita Express” to “orgy Island” is documented. His connections to the world’s most powerful people is irrefutable, and well established. Flight Logs for his plane dubbed “Lolita Express” go as far back as 2002 and include politicians, academics, celebrities, heads of state and world leaders.

In addition to flying young girls with adult men on his plane, there is his history of political influence and connections. The 2015 HSBC leak shows the massive money trail that leads to a former POTUS, and a Secretary of State. In fact, the donations to the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) make sense in light of the revelation by the defense team.

“Mr. Epstein was part of the original group that conceived the Clinton Global Initiative, which is described as a project ‘bringing together a community of global leaders to devise and implement innovative solutions to some of the world’s most pressing challenges,” read the July 2007 letter to the U.S. Attorney’s office in the Southern District of Florida. “Focuses of this initiative include poverty, climate change, global health, and religious and ethnic conflicts.”

The View From the High Dive Platform

The slow leak of information gives us insight into Epstein’s reach. But the overview presents us with a disturbing picture. If he did conceive the CGI, and the CGI was flush with donations from HSBC Swiss bank accounts of wealthy men, what exactly was the focus of their philanthropy? A predatory sex-trafficker, a former POTUS, a Secretary of State, The CGI with questionable donor disclosures, wealthy older men, and young girls. Put the pieces together however you like, and paint your own picture. When looking down from the high-dive, I know how the water looks. The pool should be drained and sanitized.

The influential players are on the board. Why aren’t they splashed on the front page of the Miami Herald? Why is it being implied that a lenient punishment is the fault of then Federal Prosecutor Acosta? Is it because he is the only one with directly attached ties to President Trump? The November 28, 2018 headline appears to confirm the idea,

How a future Trump Cabinet member gave a serial sex abuser the deal of a lifetime

~Julie K. Brown  Miami Herald

Again, looking down from the high dive platform we can see that the water is muddled. Mr. Acosta was one person in a team of prosecutors. In the DOJ pecking order, he was well subordinate to the #2 at DOJ, Deputy AG Mark Filip. Mr. Filip was confirmed March 2008 as Deputy AG, and directly responsible for overseeing the prosecution of federal criminal cases. Though the Epstein case was underway, Mr. Filip had three months before the sentencing of Jeffery Epstein. He answered to AG Roberto Gonzalez, appointed by President (and Clinton buddy) George W. Bush.

The Miami Herald headline would have you believe that the Miami Office Federal Prosecutor is primarily responsible for agreeing to a lenient plea bargain for a wealthy and politically well connected child predator. Meanwhile, his boss is supervising and has no influence on the decision? The Attorney General has no input on a high visibility case?

Mark Filip, shortly thereafter retired as Deputy AG, and is now returned as a partner at Kirkland & Ellis. The firm of Kirkland & Ellis doesn’t highlight this on their website, but a few lawyers from their firm were part of Jeffery Epstein’s “Dream Team.” One by the name of Ken Starr  was notable from the Clinton Presidency. The other attorneys were Jay Lefkowitz (Sr. Partner at Kirkland & Ellis), Alan Dershowitz, Roy Black, Guy Lewis, and Gerald B. Lefcourt. Not all of these attorneys is affiliated with Kirkland & Ellis, but they all share a history of defending men accused of high profile crimes. Roy Black is especially noted for defending William Kennedy Smith during his trial for rape. He’s less well known for marrying one of the members of the jury.

A Pile of Stinky Day Old Wet Towels

My head is spinning, and I feel the need to take a really hot shower. With the assistance of some steel wool, I may one day feel clean. There is no legitimate link to blame the bad plea bargain on Mr. Acosta. The New York Times reported that the mishandling started well before the case was turned over to the Federal Prosecutor team.

By the account of the police, they found probable cause to charge Mr. Epstein with much more serious offenses: one count of lewd and lascivious molestation and four counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor. But instead of proceeding with such charges on his own, the Palm Beach County state attorney took the rare step of presenting a broad range of possible charges to a grand jury, which indicted Mr. Epstein in July on the lesser count. In Florida, prosecutors usually refer only capital cases to grand juries. Even before the indictment, the Palm Beach police chief, Michael Reiter, had accused prosecutors of giving Mr. Epstein special treatment and asked the state attorney, Barry E. Krischer, to remove himself from the case.

~New York Times Sept. 3, 2006

Locally, The Palm Beach Post went on the offensive about how poorly the elected Palm Beach state attorney Barry Krischer (D) handled the case. Writing in the editorial that the public had been left “to wonder whether the system tilted in favor of a wealthy, well-connected alleged perpetrator and against very young girls who are alleged victims of sex crimes.”

Well… hmm. Could it be possible that the Palm Beach state attorney handed Mr. Acosta a case that was a pile of stinky towels? Is it possible that Mr. Acosta took what he was handed and made the best possible deal? Perhaps, President Trump appointed him to his current position because he’s qualified, and not some strange quid pro quo deal? Trump admits that he interacted socially with Epstein, stated very publicly on the record. He even mentions Epstein’s focus on attractive women, some of them “very young.” But that’s not a reason to imply that he’s rewarding Mr. Acosta with a Secretary position. Or that Mr. Acosta should bear the taint of a bad plea bargain.

When Trump noted the bevy of young “nieces” he revoked Epstein’s access to Mar-a- Lago Resort in Palm Beach. Not to be denied, Epstein had his “girlfriend” solicit a young girl working at the resort. Ghislaine Maxwell the “girlfriend” who acted as a de facto madam, was given immunity from prosecution for her part in the trafficking of young girls. She later went on to start “The TerraMar Project” and is partnered with The Clinton Global Initiative. She’s close enough with the Clinton family that she attended Chelsea’s wedding.

Swimming in the Deep End, Without a Lifeguard

From what I’ve shared and read since this caught my eye back in 2005-2006, this pool is a swamp. The players are all powerful, wealthy, and for the most part above the law. Is there any surprise that the Clinton’s continue to appear throughout the timeline? They continually consider themselves above the law. “The Clinton’s War on Women” is an excellent book highlighting the relationship between Epstein and the Clinton’s. I highly recommend it, and will read it again.

This brings me to the 2016 election. Considering the relationship and access that Bill Clinton has to Jeffery Epstein, where is the tangible proof that Donald Trump ever engaged in illicit activity with underaged girls? There are headlines and stories linking him to the Clinton’s and Epstein, but very few facts. I find it difficult to believe that the Clinton’s would let slip any opportunity to assure Hillary a victory. Why didn’t they dig it up with their Fusion GPS Dossier?

Fusion GPS, the opposition research firm whose Democrat-financed Russia dossier fueled an FBI investigation into Donald Trump, pitched other stories about the Republican presidential candidate to Washington reporters, including an attempt to tie him to a convicted pedophile who was once buddies with former President Bill Clinton. Journalist sources told The Washington Times that Fusion founder Glenn Simpson pushed the idea of a close relationship between Mr. Trump and Jeffrey Epstein, who pleaded guilty in 2008 to soliciting sex from an underage girl. The Trump-Epstein link appears purely social, far short of Mr. Clinton’s 20-plus plane rides on Epstein’s “Lolita Express” private jet around the globe in the early 2000s. Ken Silverstein, the reporter who ultimately wrote an Epstein-Trump report, confirmed to The Times that Fusion had sourced the story.

The Pool is Closed for Cleaning

The coming reports will all highlight the ineptitude of then Federal Prosecutor Acosta. There will be little mention of the mis-handled case at the state level in Palm Beach. The Clinton connections will be deemed “exhausted” and “overplayed.” Jeffery Epstein, his enablers, and accomplices all need to be punished. There is no doubt about the large scale of his influence, and how it’s played to his benefit. Protecting him will keep the others safe, because Epstein certainly has a black binder with very damaging information. The FOIA requests are in process, and have been since 2008. The ties to Trump will be magnified beyond recognition, and his statements will be examined. I hope that he can stay out of his own way, and refrain from adding fuel to the fire. I really hope that the victims find some civil restitution from Jeffery Epstein, as it’s obvious that he’s benefited from them.

Or is it because this is new info?

the Palm Beach County state attorney
That wouldn’t be an elected position, would it? In Palm Beach County? It IS? I’m so shocked…..

She later went on to […] partner[] with The Clinton Global Initiative.
Which is really a bit bizarre, given Clinton’s coziness with Epstein. And his other issues with young women.

I find it difficult to believe that the Clinton’s would let slip any opportunity to assure Hillary a victory.
Except for that whole frag pattern thing – it might have been viewed as tying her too much to the other Clinton.

Yes, I think this new story is probably an attempt to mire Trump in the Epstein bog. But I’m also more than willing to cast aspersions where appropriate. If Acosta was complicit in letting Epstein off the hook, he should burn for it – at least professionally. If not, then the Herald should suffer. (And, in the meantime, I keep hoping Epstein sees justice soon.)

    • Hi GWB. It is an elected position (shocker, I know), and he pretty much made a shit sandwich of the charges before handing off the case. I tried sourcing the article I read a few years back, where Acosta all but says he was left with no good choice after getting the case.
Now the question of actual punishment enforcement is certainly one to be questioned. JE was given lavish furlough accommodations. In light of Martha Stewart actually being incarcerated for financial crimes, Epstein’s situation seems particularly favorable. He was supposed to serve 13 months, but did less than 1/2 of the time. Patterson’s book is pretty good, although his relationship with Clinton does give me pause as to that angle.
I don’t know that the Clinton’s worry about frag. If she had reason to cut Bill loose, without looking scorned, he’d be gone. He’s a liability in our current culture. She knows it. Would it directly come back to her as a participant? That’s a different and legitimate question.
I took me a minute to read the sarcasm in your response. Yeah, I find no real surprises about CGI having ties to very unsavory people.
I am having a hard time swallowing that a case of this magnitude would fall entirely under the discretion of a prosecutor who is basically a regional director. The care and handling of VIP’s is not delegated without direct supervision. So to lay it out as they did, the MH is using Trump/ExBranch as a foil.
If there was solid information indicting Trump, we would have heard it. If they can dredge up an audio clip of his “grab em” comment, they can drop proof under the guise of anonymous sources. A single picture of inappropriate behavior with an underaged girl are enough. It doesn’t have to be an entire dossier. A photo is enough. I’m 100% certain that if it was an option, we’d have already seen it.
I do hope you are right about Epstein. Personally, I’d shoot first and as Jesus to forgive me. The guy is flat out evil.

Why don’t we put Epstein and the clintons on his lolita express, and then use it for testing new ground-air, or air-air missles…. just saying
