Mimosa, Bloody Mary, nice flute of champagne — or maybe a favorite tipple in your coffee. Make yourself one and join me at our own Algonquin Round Table, the spirit of Dorothy Parker abides.

Happy Sunday, dear friends! More than half of October is in the rearview mirror and we are on the fast track into 2026. Yowzers! Brunch today is full of fall offerings — no worries, only minimal pumpkin spice! — a nice balance of sweet and savory. Chilled champagne to keep us in the giggles as we look over some of the portside shenanigans of the last week. As if No Kings Hate America Day wasn’t Theater of the Absurd enough. So pass the plates, fill your glasses and let’s get to it. L’Chaim!

Professional Baseball honors cheater

I wonder how many L.A. Dodger fans approve:

[Lia] Thomas, a male trans-identifying swimmer, competed in women’s swimming categories while at the University of Pennsylvania, taking opportunities and recognition away from female athletes. Female athletes like OutKick’s Riley Gaines. Sure enough, as a reward for that appalling behavior, Thomas is now being celebrated at an event in Los Angeles. (snip)

At the Rainbow Labs “Violet Visionary Awards,” on Thursday night, Thomas will be presented with the “Voice of Inspiration Award.” Per the event website, this honor is given to “…an individual whose story and actions ignite hope and courage within the LGBTQ+ community.” (snip)

The Los Angeles Dodgers and Los Angeles Football Club soccer team are sponsors of this abhorrent farce.

Things that never happen …

“Trans” is a mental-health red-flag and nothing to celebrate.

Remember, Gavin Newsom is running for President

Greasy Gavin slithered out at the end of the legislative season to sneak in a bail-out for Edison in regards to the Eaton fire last January.

Standing behind a lectern emblazoned with the words “Cutting Utility Bills,” Gov. Gavin Newsom signed into law last month a package of energy bills that he said “reduces the burden on ratepayers.”

Tucked into one of those bills: a paragraph that could allow Southern California Edison to shift billions of dollars of Eaton fire damage costs to its customers.

Oh dear, Edison customers will foot the bill, you say?

Among other things, the bill allows Edison to start charging customers for any Eaton fire costs exceeding the state’s $21-billion wildfire fund. (snip)

Other amendments in the 231-page bill known as SB 254 helped not just Edison, but all three of the state’s biggest for-profit utilities, further limiting the costs that they and their shareholders would face if the companies’ equipment ignited a catastrophic wildfire.

My shocked face has decided to take a spa day and can’t be reached.

What is GoFundMe up to?

The Feds need to look into this right away. We no sooner get rid of USAID’s shady NGO’s and their money-laundering of taxpayer money into leftwing-crony blackholes then this comes up? A dumpster of dead fish doesn’t smell this bad.

Medicaid fraud? Say it’s not true!

Whenever you hear Democrats screaming their heads off that the Trump administration is “cutting healthcare”, this is what they are really opposed to … their skimming of taxpayer benefits is something they feel entitled to.

Grandma wins PowerBall, promptly donates to charity.

Carrie Edwards of Midlothian matched four of the first five numbers, plus the Powerball, in the Sept. 8 drawing, winning $50,000. But because she purchased the Power Play option, her prize tripled to $150,000, according to the Virginia Lottery.

Edwards said she knew instantly what she wanted to do with the unexpected windfall.

She picked three charities to donate to:

Her first donation went to the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (AFTD), which supports research, education and family resources for those affected by the early-onset dementia.

Her husband died from AFTD and she wants to help families now going through what she did, and bolster support for future reseach. She also donated to Shalom Farms, a local non-profit farm and Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society (NMCRS).

What a mensch! Brava, Carrie!

Goodness! Will you look at the time! Well, the rest of Sunday awaits us all. Go have a grand time of it and let’s meet back here in a week’s time. Cheers!
