Sad, aging billionaire Bruce Springsteen took time out the opening night of his concert to read a statement excoriating President Donald Trump and encouraging the audience to “rise with us”. England has enough problems without paying a couple hundred pounds to see a 75 year old rich guy kvetch. London especially has stabbings and grooming gangs galore. They want to pay for the privilege of being lectured, they have homegrown talent.

It was 1980 by the time the Bruce Springsteen craze hit the University of Cincinnati campus. I was not and have never been a fan. His deep baritone sounds to me like he is severely constipated and trying to have a painful bowel movement. He is only a working man’s songster if the working man hates his life and country. So why foist this on London?

Maybe because Springsteen is too self-absorbed to see what is happening to the people who buy tickets to his concert. What did he say in Manchester? From the Daily Beast:

Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band began their “Land of Hope & Dreams” tour with forceful messages about the “treasonous” Trump administration.

In Manchester, England, Springsteen summoned the “righteous power of art, of music, of rock ‘n’ roll in dangerous times.”

“In my home, the America I love, the America I’ve written about, that has been a beacon of hope and liberty for 250 years is currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent, and treasonous administration,” he told the crowd before performing the tour’s namesake song.

“Tonight, we ask all who believe in democracy and the best of our American experience to rise with us, raise your voices against authoritarianism and let freedom ring!”

“The last check on power after the checks and balances of government have failed are the people, you and me,” he said. “It’s in the union of people around a common set of values now that’s all that stands between a democracy and authoritarianism. At the end of the day, all we’ve really got is each other.”

“The richest men”? One of those richest men would be Bruce Springsteen. Due process? My Aunt Fanny. “Deeply American”? Dear Lord, I hope the fine folks of Manchester don’t think Springsteen is the epitome of Deeply American.

Kid Rock took an opportunity on Fox & Friends this morning to call Springsteen’s overseas rant a “punk move”. From Fox News:

Kid Rock fired back at Bruce Springsteen for the “Born in the USA” singer’s anti-Trump tirade while performing in the United Kingdom, calling the comments a “punk move.”

The multi-platinum artist reacted to Springsteen’s criticism of President Donald Trump and his administration during “FOX & Friends,” accusing him of trying to appease the Hollywood “elite” with his rant.

“Just another person with TDS at the highest levels,” he told Steve Doocy on Friday. “To be in Europe talking junk about our president who gets up and works his ass off for this country, every day, and his administration is doing such great things… Thank God for him. But to do that in Europe… what a punk move.”

“This guy’s got, what, 500 million, a billion dollars… and is out there playing like he’s a working-class hero,” he continued. “And really, to me, just wants to be… in good standings with the Hollywood elite… and I’m proud to say that I’m more of Hollywood’s kryptonite.”

Springsteen kicked off his “Land of Hope and Dreams” tour in Manchester on Wednesday, calling out the president and his aides for “corrupt” leadership.
