It was going so, so well. South African President Cyril Ramaphosa met with President Donald Trump in the White House today. They were laughing and joking about golf, and admiring Ernie Els. It was typical Trump until someone mentioned genocide. Things got tense and then a stupid reporter made a comment about the Qatari plane and Trump vented his anger on the stupid reporter.
Everyone expected explosions in the White House today. Trump has a burr in his saddle about the White farmers in South Africa being murdered and having their lands stolen. Ramaphosa says that’s not true and he is trying to move his country forward. From the New York Times:
o temper diplomatic tensions, President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa will be accompanied by two South African champion golfers when he meets with President Trump on Wednesday.
Joining the South African delegation alongside the typical assortment of cabinet ministers and other aides will be Ernie Els, the former world No. 1 golfer, and the two-time U.S. Open champion Retief Goosen. Both men are well acquainted with Mr. Trump; in 2013, he posted a photograph of himself and Mr. Els to his Facebook page.
It started out quite jocular. Ramaphosa gave Trump a big, heavy book about golf. He thanked Trump for the respirators during the Covid virus. Trump loves to be praised and it was working. Until the subject of genocide came up. The South African President denied White farmers were being killed. Trump said, “Yes, they are. The South African President brought up the peacemaker Nelson Mandela. Trump said “Let’s go to the videotape.”
That jump in the middle of the video just after the white crosses is where a moronic NBC reporter asked about the Qatari jet.

It gave Trump a chance to calm down. He told Ramaphosa that the G20 is coming to South Africa and he wants Ramaphosa to look good. Reuters posted:
Ramaphosa rejected Trump’s assertion, saying there is no white genocide in his country and reminding him that the victims of crime in South Africa are both black and white. “There is criminality in our country… people who get killed are not only white,” he said, adding that Malema does not speak for the government.
Trump also held up a stack of articles and photos, claiming they depicted murdered white South Africans. When asked what he wanted Ramaphosa to do, Trump simply said, “We’re going to talk about it.”
Elon Musk was at the meeting. He has been denied Starlink business in South Africa. He looked rather tense during this video part where the revolutionary shouted “Kill the Boer, the farmer.

Of course, the Reuters article said the genocide claims are false:
South Africa, which endured centuries of draconian discrimination against Black people during colonialism and apartheid before becoming a multi-party democracy in 1994 under Nelson Mandela, rejects Trump’s allegations.
A new land reform law, aimed at redressing the injustices of apartheid, allows for expropriations without compensation when in the public interest, for example if land is lying fallow. No such expropriation has taken place, and any order can be challenged in court.

Ramaphosa mostly sat expressionless while the video was played, occasionally craning his neck to look at it. He said he had not seen it before, and that he would like to find out what the location was.
Trump then displayed printed copies of articles that he said showed white South Africans who had been killed, saying “death, death” as he flipped through them.
Ramaphosa said there was crime in South Africa, and the majority of victims were Black. Trump cut him off and said: “The farmers are not Black.”
Ramaphosa responded: “These are concerns we are willing to talk to you about.”
The South African leader remained composed throughout the scene.
It was a news making meeting. It wasn’t boring like the “ha Noil fell, well met” meetings of the past. Oddly enough, although there were ideological disagreements, it ended well for both men. Now, if only Elon had laser eyes.

How many world leaders has Trump showed the video of them hanging themselves to,it’s quite a few isn’t it?
The best part was him showing the road with the long line of crosses. Cyril knew it was going on. He just figured as a black man, he was immune to criticism.
The farms owned by Boers are gradually being taken and given to blacks. Sometimes a fraction of market value is paid, but often nothing. On virtually all those farms production declines to nearly zero and much land is left uncultivated despite large grants to the so-called farmers. South Africa is a failing state without the orgranisational skills and presence in government of Boers. Corruption and tribalism is now the norm.
South Africa is a “failing state”, alright.
It may also be a failing state with NUKES..
That could get interesting if the “goodies” were not moved out as Mandela took the reins
