We remember 9/11 today. But will we forget it tomorrow? Find someone in their twenties or thirties and ask them a few basic questions about American history. Ask them just to describe certain events in the short 243 years the nation has been in existence. Then be prepared to be shocked. Young adults are not stupid; however, the gaps in their knowledge are so great as to confirm suspicions that this is no accident.
Last year on the 17th anniversary I emphasized how we as individuals must pass down our own experiences to our children and grandchildren. However, in the face of a concerted effort by the Left in twisting or erasing key events in American History, we must do more.
We must support all efforts to push back and correct the record. We should not entertain any more Howard Zinns.
But, you protest, aren’t there still memorial ceremonies and media attention to the anniversary? Yes, of course. We are only 18 years from the event. For the vast majority of Americans, it is an event we actually witnessed. I can detail for you the events of the day as I experienced it, where I was, what I did, starting with the report of the first plane that hit the World Trade Center. It is vivid memory, impossible to ignore or forget. However, I’m not optimistic that in 40-60 years time that 9/11 will be more than a footnote in American history. Or worse, framed in a way that will make it look like we brought the attack on ourselves. As the NYTimes today wants us to forget our nation’s beginnings, to collapse in fits of self-flagellation over our origination story, 9/11’s history will be rewritten.
What ritual and tradition allow us to do is to make distant events relevant to the contemporary generation. There has been little change to Judaism’s Passover Seder dinner. The plates may change but the readings and the symbolic foods have little changed in the few thousand years it has been observed. Years ago Dennis Prager actually proposed a 4th of July Seder as a way to reinforce memory via ritual. It’s a good suggestion for a good start.
It will take much more than one day to counter years of professionally-pushed amnesia. Winning the struggle for the minds of young Americans is as urgent as what confronted the passengers on Flight 93.
So, in the words of Todd Beamer, “Let’s roll.”

Yes. Traditions, rituals, habits, and teaching these … being proactive. I believe the reason the anti-American left has had such success is first of all because everyone else took freedom for granted. Eternal vigilance is necessary, and only by making it a habit can it be sustained.
The Jordan Peterson video is very good. I only hope enough of us have the will to dismantle what the left has built. We need to demand our legislatures stop funding college and university programs that promote leftism. For that matter, just cut them off entirely; let them function one the free market. Let them earn their incomes from people willing to pay. If they have something of value to offer, they should succeed; if they offer garbage they’ll fail.
As the NYTimes today wants us to forget our nation’s beginnings
They also want us to forget who committed the atrocity of 9/11 and why.
They have since corrected the article, deleted the tweet and reissued one that doesn’t make the airplanes out to be the bad guys. Still, “terrorism” only makes one appearance in the new article.
Thank you to Nicholas Haros (son of a victim) for reminding the left, and particularly, Ilhan Omar, who did what to whom at the 9/11 Memorial this morning:

He was awesome!
I believe the Left is extremely, geologically patient, and is counting on generational amnesia plus the death of older Americans and their knowledge and memories to help them complete their toxic Leftward transformation. Three generations from now, with nobody having passed on the real history of American civilization, that history will be dead and replaced by the Left’s version. Remember, the Left has always been the enemy of America, so their version of “history” will reflect that hatred of us and our traditions and mores. Good will be dismissed and bad will be magnified. RIP America.
We are never more than one generation away from losing our freedom and our republic.
We must diligently teach our children about it – all of it – when we sit, when we rise, when we walk, when we lay down. We must remind them of the truth, and that they are the keepers of the flame.

They can try to make me forget, but I am more angry today than I was 18 years ago. We have wasted trillions of dollars and done nothing. Squat. And they are stronger than ever, in an even better position to destroy us now than they were then.
What have the Democrats done? Nothing, other than to try to make us weaker, and to disarm us, so that our enemies can waltz in unopposed.
Who or are the Left or what are the Leftism that all the comments are referring to?
(I see now that I made a writing error in my recent comment. I wrote “Who or are the….) should ofcourse just be
“Who are……) Could you please correct that? Thank you.
