School Superintendent Needs A Bodyguard

Once upon a time, Doctor Michelle Reid was Superintendent of Northshore School District in Washington State. Three years ago, in 2022, she’s relocated to tawny Fairfax County in Northern Virgina for the “Soup” position.

We know being a school district superintendent involves shaking hands, kissing babies and being present at school board meetings. It is largely a position that is in the public eye and under much scrutiny. This is why, Doctor Michelle says she needs, essentially, a bodyguard.

Doctor Michelle Reid takes home close to a half a million a year. Last November, the all-Democratic school board voted unanimously to renew Reid’s four-year contract and increased her annual salary to $424,146 from $380,000. This is more than the salary of New York City’s education chancellor. She also gets a car stipend.

In new job posting No. 25212BR on BrassRing, an online recruitment platform, the Fairfax County public schools superintendent is advertising for an ‘Executive Protection Agent,’based at the school district’s C-suite headquarters on Gatehouse Road in Falls Church, Va. The deadline for applicants is Aug. 5.

The new job would earn between $84,552 to $143,880, according to the FCPS pay scale for a “Unified Scale-Schedule B/Grade 006″ job, paying far more than the starting salary of about $58,000 that a new teacher gets in the school district.”-Asra Q. Nomani, Fox News

Executive Protection Agent. Let’s call this what it is. A bodyguard. Personal security detail.

The Executive Protection Agent is responsible for ensuring the personal safety, security and operational continuity of the division superintendent across school campuses, public events, official travel, and private residences.”-Asra Q. Nomani, Fox News

She had the most important profession in the world, after all. And, learning happens best with community? What the hell happened to that “community” in 2020 and into 2021? Doctor Reid was one to lead in the response to the pandemic by shuttering schools in Washington State. She was part of that “reimagining reset” that came out of pandemic-the whole bit. The whole equity agenda push, the whole revamping the classroom, the whole Jay Inslee/Chris Reykdal “keep schools closed because you’re gonna kill grandma” narrative. And, when she did enough damage in Washington State, she traveled cross-country for a promotion to “reimagine” on the east coast:

FCPS’ pronoun policy forces students to use their classmates’ preferred gender pronouns and chosen names. If they don’t use their classmates’ preferred gender pronouns and chosen names, the plaintiffs’ attorneys argue the students can face disciplinary action from FCPS for “misgendering” or “deadnaming” students.”-Nick Minock, MSN

But, wait, there’s more:

Since taking over on July 1, 2022, Reid has come under fire for allegedly covering up scandals over improprieties in football recruiting, the withholding of National Merit awards from students and, most recently, defying Department of Education orders regarding Title IX protections for girls in sports and schools. The Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights just announced that Fairfax County Public Schools and four other northern Virginia school districts, including Loudoun County Public Schools, violated TItle IX protections by discriminating against students on the basis of sex.”-Asra Q. Nomani, Fox News

Let’s also talk about the hallways of West Springfield High School in Fairfax County. In a recent women’s history class, posters adorned the hallways: “A is for Abortion”, “F Is for Feminism,” “H Is for Hope” (with a photo of Kamala Harris), “J Is for Justice” (with a picture of Lady Liberty with a clenched fist and depictions of the Palestinian and Transgender flags), “L Is for Liberty” (with a picture featuring Kamala Harris, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Michelle Obama), “Q Is for Queer,” and “T Is for Transgender Women.”

Doctor Reid called this display “proper and commendable”. The display was “thoughtful, creative” and “inspired critical thinking”.

Now, one might think this Superintendent needs protection in her gun-free school zones from livid, psycho parents. Imagine the colossal ego who thinks her protection from bodily harm is more important than the protection of young bodies and minds. Where is she on school shootings? Ah, yes. Common Sense gun control. Where is she on guys in girls’ locker rooms? We need to affirm each and every student. The excess that surrounds this job posting is both tone-deaf and mind-numbing.

This is why tax payers are NOT voting for school bonds and levies for security and infrastructure improvements. Wasteful spending like this and top-heavy school administrative salaries. Is Superintendent Michelle Reid worth it and worth her salary? I would say that if you make more than the President you absolutely hate, (because you know she does), you can afford your own bodyguard.

the withholding of National Merit awards from students

I remember when that it happened. The bad part is that National Merit Awards are a big boost to college applications. The students who earned it were never told and when this came to light, the answer was “Oh, we didn’t want to hurt the feelings of the students who didn’t win this.”

These people have no place in society other than to be pointed and laughed at.
