Yes Sarah Palin is a public figure – but her children are not. What the media did to Palin last fall was bad enough; what they did to her children was far worse. Make fun of Sarah Palin – sure, why not all is fair in love and politics, right? But to try to make jokes out of a rape of her 14 year old daughter, or use her 17 year old daughter as a punching bag for unwed mothers and it crosses the line.
I especially find Letterman such a hypocrit on this – he has a child with a woman he was not married to. Is he different because he’s rich, famous and older? Does he get a free pass on the morality train?

The Palin children are not celebrities. Their mother is. That doesn’t mean Sarah Palin’s public persona gets to spill over onto her children and allow for this kind of smutty talk I don’t care how old her kids are.
Bristol Palin made a mistake – like hundreds of thousands of teenagers every year. As a matter of fact, I do remember the last time things were screwed up this bad was because of liberal and democratic policies in the 30s and during Carters adminstration. The right has a much better track record of presenting viable and attainable solutions. Thats why over the course of the last 50 years the right has in fact won more presidential elections than the left due to the country seeing that conservative policies were the only fix to your catatrophes.

All of this is common knowledge…and there is so much more anyone could say…but if you really want to know the measure of a man or woman….the answer lies in the accomplishments of their children….the views and standards your children see everyday in your home will stay with them the rest of their lives and I really don’t feel I need to review the accomplishments of Palin’s young adult children….

His tasteless remark about the rape of her daughter was reprehensible. Not only was it designed to damage the reputation of a young girl–14 or 18 years old, it matters not–it broke a sacred rule: Politicians’ children are off limits! Governor Palin’s family deserves the same courtesy as the families of other politicians.
I’m all for the movement to have David Letterman fired. Don Imus lost his job for offending African Americans. It’s time the media was taken to task for the way it disparages half the population of this country.
