I am beyond angry right now. U.S. Army Specialist Sarah Beckstrom did not survive the attack in D.C. by Afghani terrorist Rahmanullah Lakanwal. He now faces felony murder charges and the death penalty.
We already knew that her injuries were likely fatal since Lakanwal shot her twice, with the second shot close to near point blank range at her head. Her family knew the situation was dire, yet human nature always holds out hope.
Sarah Beckstrom’s father, Gary, provided the update on Thursday, just one day after his daughter was shot in Washington, DC.
‘She has a mortal wound, it’s not going to be a recovery,’ he told the New York Times, speaking from her bedside. ‘I’m holding her hand right now.’
And now, the worst imaginable has happened for Sarah’s family.
Praying for her family.

The saddest way to spend Thanksgiving I can possibly imagine.
I don’t have the words.
Sarah VOLUNTEERED to work Thanksgiving week so others could be with their families. It was a selfless act that met with a tragic end that did not have to happen.
Joe Biden’s policies helped put this tragedy in motion.
The Biden administration’s Operation Allies Welcome program which allowed Afghans to enter the US, including the alleged National Guardsmen shooter, had deeply concerning flaws in its vetting process — and then failed to monitor the refugees properly once they were here, according to a pair of damning reports.
The flaws in the program, which Biden pushed through in 2021 in a bid to resettle tens of thousands of Afghans after the US withdrew troops from the country, were identified in two Department of Homeland Security Inspector General reports.
In an audit of the vetting process conducted in 2022, the Inspector General’s office found that DHS officers “did not always have critical data to properly screen, vet, or inspect the evacuees.”
“We determined some information used to vet evacuees through US Government databases, such as name, date of birth, identification number, and travel document data, was inaccurate, incomplete, or missing,” the audit states.
I think my shocked face strained a ligament. Joe assured us this cute little Operation Allies Welcome program would be problem free!
August, 2021. Biden says that anyone being brought to America will undergo a thorough screening and vetting.

Vetting? Screening? Uh huh. That didn’t happen at all. We’ve written repeatedly about how Joe’s policies opened the floodgates and DHS was literally told to stand aside and let it happen. How many terrorists are in this country now because Joe’s Administration let the screening and vetting slide?
For darned sure all the plane loads of Afghanis and their families who left that country starting in September 2021 weren’t vetted!
The vetting started afterwards for some, including Lakanwal. He and his wife and five children applied for asylum in DECEMBER of 2024, and approved in April of this year by a Biden Admin holdover!
Lakanwal and family arrived through Operation Allies Welcome, what actual paperwork did they have that was documentable information?
Lakanwal wasn’t supposed to own a gun because he isn’t a U.S. citizen, yet he obtained one. How and from whom?? Again, everyone in the Biden Administration was on overdrive spin assuring us that everyone would be thoroughly vetted. Yes, I’m looking at you Jen Psaki.
On Thanksgiving Eve, President Trump addressed the nation.
I have no doubt that, after Sarah’s tragic passing, President Trump’s resolve is now stronger than ever. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE who has come in from Afghanistan will be re-vetted. And I’m 100% behind that push.
What we ALSO didn’t know is many of those who were also a part of those Zero Units, at least 10,000 of them are ALSO here in the U.S. because of Joe’s Operation Allies Welcome program.
Yet now there are quite a number of folks who are trying to tell us that we should be sorry for….the SHOOTER.
“When he saw blood, bodies, and the wounded, he could not tolerate it,” said a childhood friend of 29-year-old terror suspect Rahmanullah Lakanwal.
“It put a lot of pressure on his mind,” the friend told the New York Times.
Lakanwal was part of an elite group of Afghan fighters known as the “Zero Units” — or alternatively, “death squads” — which battled the Taliban alongside US forces for over a decade.
And those vetting his asylum request didn’t pick up on the fact or even ASK if he has mental health issues?? And no, I’m not going to offer up a mental health issue as an excuse for his actions like others are doing.
I'm sorry, but your "hot take" misses key facts. Rahmanullah Lakanwal lived in Bellingham, WA, with his WIFE and FIVE CHILDREN. His nuclear family was fully reunited here after arriving via Biden's 2021 evacuation program. He was even granted asylum in April 2025. No evidence…

The rest reads: “No evidence ties this to Trump’s travel ban or family separation. Driving over 2,700 miles across 12 states to ambush & critically wound two Guardsmen (one possibly dying) isn’t “broken hopelessness”—it’s calculated rage or… on a mission.”
AGREED. Lakanwal planned a cross country drive and found a way to illegally obtain a gun. You can’t blame mental health on that!
What we ALSO didn’t know is many of those who were also a part of those Zero Units, at least 10,000 of them are ALSO here in the U.S. because of Joe’s Operation Allies Welcome program!
As a result, Andrew Wolfe is fighting for his life and Sarah Beckstrom has lost hers.

I will ALWAYS blame the Biden Administration for this tragedy.

The only acceptable answer to “Why is this man wasting my air?” is that he’s being waterboarded for any information he may have to pass on.
After that, his pigskin wrapped body can be returned to Afghanistan along with his family.
