While the House of Representatives held forth on the Constitution, Federalist Papers and every Founding Father before voting to Impeach President Trump, the man himself held a rally in the aptly name town of Battle Creek. If there is anything that shows the divide in this country, it was the split screen views of the raucous rally versus the faux solemn House.
What makes this moment even more surreal is that Battle Creek, Michigan is in the district of Justin Amash. In case you have forgotten, Amash left the Republican Party this summer, partly over his disgust over “Orange Man Bad”. Just a few hours before Trump took the stage at the Michigan rally, Amash voiced his support for the Articles of Impeachment. By the way, if you need the dirty details on the impeachment votes, Deanna wrote them up and you can read it here.
Before the rally began, Michigan Live interviewed Trump supporters in line to get into Kellogg Arena. The reporter seemed surprised that the attendees were pro-Trump. From the article:
Supporters in Battle Creek called the impeachment inquiry a scam and crazy, arguing the Democrats had no evidence against Trump.
Bob Wightman, 65, said he believes the impeachment inquiry is “all hearsay and opinion.”
“Nobody has any proof,” Wightman said. “Would you like to be convicted of a crime with no evidence?”
A large screen outside the arena played videos highlighting Trump’s actions as president and criticized Democrats for the impeachment inquiry.
The best comment came courtesy of the Detroit News:
“It’s b——t. Impeach this,” said Nina Horbath, 60 of Rockwood, when asked what she thought of the impeachment proceedings. She said she came for “the fun, the camaraderie” and to support Trump.
Amen, sister. My thoughts exactly. Contrast the spirit of Battle Creek with the faux solemnity in the District of Columbia.
There were Trump protesters outside of the rally. Again from the Detroit News:
Linda Bradley, Grand Haven, 55, came to protest Trump and ended up having a cordial conversation with a member of the right-wing group Proud Boys that ended with a smile and a fist bump.
“We were just talking about our philosophies, and what we feel about the system, and why we’re in the situation we’re in right now,” Bradley said. “We both believe that it’s corporate influence. We have a lot of things in common, but he’s willing to vote against the system by putting Trump in power, and I’m not willing to vote against the system to put someone in power who’s going to further tear it down.”
Democrat heads are exploding from the idea of a member of the Proud Boys being cordial with a Trump protester.
Trump briefly mentioned impeachment two times early and briefly in his rally. He called the impeachment illegal, unconstitutional and partisan. All true. He noted, as we have many, many times, that this is all about the Democrats deep hatred for those of us who are deplorable, smelly Walmart types. Here Trump reacts to the votes:
Republicans affronted? That’s mild for Donald Trump. And, hardly descriptive of how many of us feel. I am so angry I could spit nails.
I know that many Republicans hold their nose when they even think about President Donald John Trump. But, he is the President we need at this moment, He is bold, brash, real and raw. He is like most Americans across the nation.
Today was a tale of two cities. There was an impeachment in the swamp. There was a rally in Battle Creek. Rock on, Donald Trump.

Something is horribly wrong with Donald Trump’s soul.
“President Trump on Wednesday night cruelly mocked the late John Dingell, the longest-ever serving member of Congress in American history, suggesting he might be in hell during a fiery attack on his wife, Democratic Michigan Rep. Debbie Dingell.”
Every day he never ceases to shock and surprise people around the world. Victory Girl’s silence on his abhorrent behavior only says one thing … you support his sick, beyond the pale, vile, cruel behavior. It’s nice that you go after the flaws of Democrats and those that don’t support your view points.
Matthew 7:3 -5 describes your behavior perfectly, “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?”
But once again … this is an echo chamber … supporting the heinous behavior if your leader.
Many people on the left and right “pray for Mr. Trump’s soul.”
Oh, go suck a raw egg, Kevin.
Your quoting of scripture perfectly encapsulates Antonio’s warning. (Merchant of Venice)
(It’s also funny that you try to turn that back after I used it against you the other day.)
First, plenty has been said about Trump’s less presidential moments here on VG. (So, you’re lying.)
Second, you say things like “sick” and “beyond the pale”. For crying out loud, you keep ratcheting up the adjectives until they lack any meaning whatsoever.
Please, either go play in traffic, or put down the MSM bong and go get educated. In either case you AND we will be better off than right now.
Oh, and Kevin, here’s that eminent legislator, while he was still alive:

Hypocrite, indeed (v5).
We both believe that it’s corporate influence. We have a lot of things in common, but he’s willing to vote against the system by putting Trump in power, and I’m not willing to vote against the system to put someone in power who’s going to further tear it down.
So, you both claim the system is broken. He wants to tear the broken system down. You do not.
Who’s the rational one here? *smdh*
I’m so glad you approve of Donald Trump’s behavior.
Let’s try this one on for size … Ronald Reagan and his whore of a wife Nancy are both looking up our asses from hell.
I don’t think that but I’m sure there are a lot of people that do.
How about this one … Andrew Breitbart died too late in life. Humanity would have been better off had he succumbed to death sooner. We are all better off.
I don’t think that but I’m sure there are a lot of people that do.
How about this one … Victory Girls are just a bunch of pussies for Donald Trump go grab.
I don’t think that but I’m sure there are a lot of people that do.
I am begging to be banned (again). You know us liberals … disrespectful and bad-mouthed.
Of course, all of those things are well beyond what Trump actually said.
Bless your heart.
Trump clearly was making a joke and clearly did not say Dingell is in hell. And who cares, it is not important.
Kevin is a troll.
So what you’re saying is that President Trump made a joke, and once again, the left lost there “minds” over it??
And Kevin is a troll?
You forgot Epstein didn’t hang himself!
