Politico is shocked, SHOCKED I tell you, to discover and reluctantly report that it is a plethora of Democrat donors who are funding the nationwide anti-Israel campus protests. The headline of their article is a thing of beauty.
Pro-Palestinian protesters are backed by a surprising source: Biden’s biggest donors
Are you surprised? I’m not. Seriously, did anyone really believe that students across the country, who’ve never camped out in their lives, suddenly and organically went shopping for not inexpensive camping tents, pricey sleeping bags, and turned plastic trash cans into shields??
However, Politico is just shocked to find out that many of Joe Biden’s biggest donors are *GASP! funding these ‘mostly peaceful’ campus protests.
Two of the organizers supporting the protests at Columbia University and on other campuses are Jewish Voice for Peace and IfNotNow. Both are supported by the Tides Foundation, which is seeded by Democratic megadonor George Soros and was previously supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. It in turn supports numerous small nonprofits that work for social change.
Soros declined to comment. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, which has previously funded the Tides Foundation and other groups, said it no longer has active grants to Tides. It also does not support Jewish Voice for Peace or IfNotNow.
Another notable Democratic donor whose philanthropy has helped fund the protest movement is David Rockefeller Jr., who sits on the board of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund. In 2022, the fund gave $300,000 to the Tides Foundation; according to nonprofit tax forms, Tides has given nearly $500,000 over the past five years to Jewish Voice for Peace, which explicitly describes itself as anti-Zionist.
Well, that certainly explains where the money came from to buy all those pretty tents! Oh, but there’s much more to this than just handing over money to these virulent anti-semitic organizations.
At Columbia University, in the weeks and months before police took down encampments at the New York City campus and removed demonstrators occupying an academic building, student organizers began consulting with groups such as the National Students for Justice in Palestine, veterans of campus protests and former Black Panthers.
They researched past protests over Columbia’s expansion into Harlem, went to a community meeting on gentrification and development and studied parallels with the fight over land between Palestinians and Israelis. They attended a “teach-in” put on by several former Black Panthers, who told them about the importance of handling internal disputes within their movement.
“We took notes from our elders, engaged in dialogue with them and analyzed how the university responded to previous protests,” said Sueda Polat, a graduate student and organizer in the pro-Palestinian encampment.
Saul Alinsky would be so proud.
In fact, as many are now finding out. A significant number of so-called ‘student’ protestors are in fact, NOT STUDENTS at any of the campuses. For example: James Carlson, the 40-year old son of millionaire ad execs who never was a student at Columbia.
Carlson was among the anti-Israel protesters in January who wreaked havoc on the city by blocking traffic at the Holland Tunnel as well as the Brooklyn, Manhattan and Williamsburg Bridges, a source said.
His rap sheet dates back to at least 2005, when he was charged in San Francisco for participating in the violent “West Coast Anti-Capitalist Mobilization and March Against the G8,” where protesters cracked a police officer’s skull, nearly killing him, and attempted to set a police cruiser ablaze, according to a City Hall source and news reports.
Yet Politico and others in the media are just bewildered as to how this could be. It’s not like signs of the same kind of support weren’t in evidence during the George Floyd riots in 2020. It was pretty damned obvious that those rioters were recipients of funding during and after the fact. Kamala’s bail fund tweet is STILL up by the way.
There’s a great deal of dot connecting happening lately, and it doesn’t bode well for the Democrats who’ve been both funding and giving tacit approval to these campus protests.

This is a prime example of whom Joe’s big name Democrat donors are supporting.

That’s the key. Politico is shocked and dismayed to find that Joe’s donors are giving money to these groups. They know it’s a really bad look for Democrats overall. It doesn’t matter, despite Politico’s spin, that the donors aren’t involved in the day-to-day operations and thus have no control over how the money is spent. The fact is, giving money means the donors APPROVE of the organizations missions and tactics. There’s no other way around that.
These protestors and those who fund them such as the Pritzker family out of Illinois, are only allowing certain types of protests and certain types of speech through their campus rampages, and support of Israel is not allowed. Which is completely antithetical to everyone’s First Amendment rights. They support groups such as AdalahJustice:
Universities are hedge funds, deeply embedded with weapons manufacturers. The goal is returns, not education or safety.

Politico pretends to be shocked and dismayed that Joe’s multi-millionaire Democrat donors are funding these protests. They shouldn’t be.
At the George Washington University Gaza Solidarity Encampment today, the protesters held a "People's Tribunal" where they put President Ellen Granberg, Provost Christopher Bracey, the Board of Trustees, @GWPolice, and many others on trial.

Democrats, including Joe, have been showing their true ugly for quite some time now.
