When our Nation mourns, we expect our leaders, local, state and national, to mourn with us. Our national motto is “E Pluribus Unum” translated as “out of many, one”. The President represents all of us to the families of the bereaved. And so, today President Donald J. Trump will visit the Pittsburgh Temple where eleven human beings were murdered on Saturday morning.
Pittsburgh Action News is reporting that the President will travel on Air Force One to visit. From the article:
President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump will travel to Pittsburgh on Tuesday in the wake of the Squirrel Hill synagogue massacre that left 11 people dead.
Air Force One is scheduled to arrive at Pittsburgh International Airport at 3:45 p.m., according to a statement released by the White House Monday evening.
White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Trump is coming to the city “to express the support of the American people and to grieve with the Pittsburgh community.” No other details or an itinerary for the visit were immediately announced.

Naturally, since Donald Trump is still President of the United States and the left is still really, really angry about that fact, this visit isn’t sitting well. Deanna wrote about the group “Bend the Arc” proglodytes and their demands of President Trump. Read her post here. They are not the only ones who are using this tragedy to score political points.
Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto gave this quote to Pittsburgh Action News:
Mayor Bill Peduto told reporters ahead of the announcement that the White House should consult with the families of the victims about their preferences and asked that the president not come during a funeral. Services for three of the victims will be held Tuesday.
“If the President is looking to come to Pittsburgh, I would ask that he not do so while we are burying the dead. Our attention and our focus is going to be on them, and we don’t have public safety that we can take away from what is needed in order to do both,” Peduto said.
If the Mayor bothered to check with the local news, he would know that there are two funeral services scheduled for Tuesday. At 10:00 a.m., visitation for the brothers Cecil and David Rosenthal is scheduled with burial services at noon. The funeral services for Dr. Jerry Rabinowitz begin at 11:00 a.m. Trump will arrive in the afternoon. There will be funerals through the weekend.
Mayor Peduto took to “Hardball with Chris Matthews” on MSNBC. Jeez, I know. But, watch it.
First of all, Mayor Facial Hair, the White House can coordinate with the State and County officials without bothering you. Second, if there were a guard at the Synagogue, he wouldn’t be standing around with a gun, duh.
The rhetoric that we have seen that has been most ugly has come from the left. Full stop. President Trump is great friends with Israel and the Israeli leadership. Trump did what other Presidents have “promised” with their fingers crossed behind their backs. President Donald Trump moved the United States Embassy from Tel Aviv to its rightful place in Jerusalem.
The Mayor should take his cues from the Tree of Life Rabbi Jeffrey Myers who said, “The President of the United States is always welcome. I am a citizen, he is my president. He is always welcome.” What a graceful and gracious statement. This man knew the murdered and heard their screams. Remember that Rabbi means “teacher” and he has taught us all.
“Baruch dayan ha’emet,” “Blessed is the true judge.”
