Survivors are reporting that the gunman who opened fired at an Oregon community college was forcing people to stand and state their religious affiliations before he began shooting them.

A Twitter user took to social media, claiming that her grandmother was in a writing class in Snyder Hall where some of the massacre unfolded.

“The shooter was lining people up and asking if they were Christian,” she wrote. “If they said yes, then they were shot in the head. If they said no, or didn’t answer, they were shot in the legs. My grandma just got to my house, and she was in the room. She wasn’t shot, but she is very upset.”

Kourtney Moore, an 18-year-old student at Umpqua Community College, was also in the room, and she confirmed that the gunman was targeting Christian students. Moore told Oregon’s News Review that moments after hearing a bullet come flying through a window, the 20-year-old gunman entered the room, shot the teacher in the head, and forced the students to the ground. After they were all on the floor, Moore said the shooter started having people rise and asked them what religion they were. After they answered, he began shooting.

The gunman, identified as 26-year-old Chris Harper Mercer, who is responsible for the deaths of at least 10 individuals, has been shot and killed by police.

President Obama and his Leftist buddies want us to believe that gun-free zones are the answer to all of our violence issues. The answer isn’t to further disarm the people, Mr. Obama. The solution is to further arm them. If there had been students, employees, or instructors carrying firearms, this madman would not have been able to go on a rampage because he would have been killed.

We’ve all heard it before, but it is still true. Guns aren’t the problem. The problem was a troubled man with an evil heart. Whether he was targeting all Christians or just people of religious conviction has no bearing on the evil in his heart. Further disarming our populace only allows for more madmen to enter schools, universities, businesses, government buildings, libraries, military bases, and theaters to mow people down. As we pray for these families, let us also pray that our leaders have a change of heart. Forcing more gun laws on our nation will only increase the violence because madmen and criminals don’t care about breaking the law. After all, isn’t murder also illegal?
