Democrats, and the media, are really trying to turn drug-running Narco terrorists into the new Maryland Father figure. After yesterday’s briefing with Admiral Frank “Mitch” Bradley, they are demanding MORE transparency while clutching all the pearls over how horrible it was that any survivors weren’t rescued.
The two men killed as they floated holding onto their capsized boat in a secondary strike against a suspected drug vessel in early September did not appear to have radio or other communications devices, the top military official overseeing the strike told lawmakers on Thursday, according to three sources with direct knowledge of his congressional briefings.
As far back as September, defense officials have been quietly pushing back on criticism that killing the two survivors amounted to a war crime by arguing, in part, that they were legitimate targets because they appeared to be radioing for help or backup — reinforcements that, if they had received it, could have theoretically allowed them to continue to traffic the drugs aboard their sinking ship.
Gee, I wonder who those sources are that ran lickety split to CNN to spill info that was given to Democrat and Republican lawmakers in a SCIF? Which staffers were given the fun job of spilling carefully crafted “off the record” beans to a willing media?
As Deanna told us yesterday morning, even ABC News had to report, honestly for once, that the narrative the Democrats are pushing with media’s gleeful help is itself getting blown out of the water.
Yet Democrats persist in their whine about the poor drug-running Narco terrorists who are just so innocently roaming the seas with barrels full of drugs. They demand MORE transparency.
After reviewing the footage, Rep. Jim Himes (D-Conn.), the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, said what he saw was “one of the most troubling things” he had ever seen in public service.
“Any American who sees the video that I saw will see the United States military attacking shipwrecked sailors — bad guys, bad guys — but attacking shipwrecked sailors,” he said, adding that what happened is the textbook example of an “impermissible action” in the Defense Department’s handbook.
Senior member of the House Armed Services Committee Rep. Mike Turner (R-Ohio) said that he was particularly “concerned” about the strikes because if the survivors had been captured and convicted, they “would be put in jail,” not “subject to capital punishment.”
“Shipwrecked?” They are really running with the, it was just a shipwreck, please rescue them narrative. Just wow.
“shipwrecked”??? https://t.co/YJXWSSygbd

Honey, this isn’t the Titanic suddenly smacking into an iceberg. This was a boat full of drugs that, if not stopped, was going to make its way to the U.S. and other countries in the Northern Hemisphere. Drugs that end up destroying peoples lives and killing people.
It’s becoming glaringly obvious that the Democrats don’t care about stopping the flow of drugs into this country. They didn’t care when it was open borders (which also amped up the drug flow), and they certainly don’t care now. Nor does the media.
They are not only going with the shipwrecked commentary, they are now claiming (while demanding transparency) that seeing video and other classified intel on the narco terrorists getting turned into itty bitty pieces of kindling is the most troubling thing they’ve ever seen.
I’m guessing most people in that room have never seen what military ordnance is designed to do. https://t.co/nKkYsWFOaX

Now we are supposed to feel super sorry that the two survivors weren’t rescued and instead they along with the rest of the boat filled with cocaine were blasted into bits.
Ultimately, Bradley told lawmakers, he ordered a second strike to destroy the remains of the vessel, killing the two survivors, on the grounds that it appeared that part of the vessel remained afloat because it still held cocaine, according to one of the sources. The survivors could hypothetically have floated to safety, been rescued, and carried on with trafficking the drugs, the logic went.
The other source with direct knowledge of the briefing called that rationale “f**king insane.”
You know what? I don’t freaking care. Further, I’m glad our military didn’t take that chance of those two surviving so they could continue running more drugs into the U.S. and around the world. Furthermore, those who run drugs do not deserve sympathy. Period.
Furthermore, it’s highly evident that the Democrats don’t understand the realities of military operations. Senator Tom Cotton absolutely gets it.

He said that the strikes were entirely lawful and that the operation was no different than blowing up terrorist boats off the coast of Yemen

Meanwhile, no matter the Democrats whining over this, along with a few misguided Republicans, SouthCom just turned another narco terrorist boat into kindling.
Oh noooo…. not another deadly setback for the “helpless maritime pharmacists just trying to pursue their nautical dreams”

Can someone alert Congress before they start holding candlelight vigils for the poor “shipwrecked sailors” who somehow keep sinking while transporting…
I’m totally ok with this move. And, would love more.
Via X, I’ll leave you with this.

Missile me this Batman, why do liberals/democrats/progressives always take the side against Americans?
The laws of war require survivors to be rescued and interrogated unless there is imminent danger to the ship doing the rescuing. https://digital-commons.usnwc.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1720&context=ils#:~:text=GCII%20establishes%20a%20legal%20framework,pro%2D%20tect%20them%20.%20.%20.
To not do so is illegal and a war crime. You are excusing a war crime. That’s disgusting.
Any person with half a brain who isn’t hog tied to Trump would know that the chances of those men surviving that attack for long as they were. They were in salt water that eats your skin when it dries and they didn’t even have a usable boat. There may also have been sharks in those waters. It’s also unlikely any cocaine would have been usable anyways after being water logged with salt water. The strike was cruel as well.
Also if you have proof that they were indeed “Marco-terrorists” prove it. Because thus far none has been produced. Plus we are not at war with Venezuela as there has been no official declaration of war.
And before you comment on survival in the open ocean, maybe read the stories of those who have survived sinking boats in the open ocean. There are multiple stories, including the recent Adrift podcast that play open your eyes and show you what those men could have been up against if they’d found anything usable to sit in.
