Mysterious Deaths Of Former Republican State Senators

Over the course of the last few days, two former Republican state senators have been found dead at their own homes. Is this an eerie coincidence, or is there something else going on?

On Tuesday evening, former Arkansas state senator Linda Collins-Smith was found dead of a gunshot outside of her home.

Neighbors had reportedly heard gunshots either one or two days before Collins-Smith was found dead, (former press secretary Ken) Yang told KATV.

The former legislator’s body was wrapped in a blanket when it was discovered, KATV reported.

A report in the Arkansas Times said the body of Collins-Smith was “decomposed” when it was discovered. The report said that made determining her identity difficult.

Collins-Smith, who was 57, represented the 19th district from 2015 until she left office this year after losing a primary in May 2018. She had originally been a Democrat, making the switch to the GOP in 2011.

Obviously, the death of Collins-Smith looks highly suspicious and is being investigated as such.

But compounding the strangeness is the death, just a couple of days later, of another former Republican state senator at his home. This time, Jonathan Nichols of Oklahoma was found dead, reportedly by a gunshot.

And yes, people are noticing the strange coincidence.

Even national outlets like People and CNN are stopping to pause and comment on the strangeness of these two suspicious deaths.

Now, at the moment, the deaths of the former state senators look to be completely unrelated. That’s not stopping the conspiracy theorists from running wild on Twitter, especially if you search the senators’ names with “Clinton” added in. If the deaths are in any way linked, you can bet the media will run with it, because this kind of story is tailor-made for cable news cycles, as most murder mystery crime stories are. So if any kind of connection is found between these two potential crimes (Collins-Smith’s death is now being investigated as a homicide, Nichols’s death is still under investigation), we will all hear about it.

In the meantime, there are two former state senators dead, one apparently murdered. Our condolences to their families, colleagues, and loved ones. May the truth be discovered quickly.

Most people will call this “suspicious” because they don’t understand statistics.
I guarantee I can find any number of pairs of homicides across the country that the deceased can be linked together in some way (particularly membership in a large group). And that’s excluding things like “they all lived in a bad neighborhood of Chicago.”

Now, most of them aren’t politicians in Arkansas, which had a spate of state-related ‘suicides’ back in the 90s. Especially pretty ones who were formerly Democrats. (wink, wink, nudge, nudge)

The other could be a suicide.

    But, tied together? Meh.
