Just when the geriatric, monolithic apparatchiks of the Democratic Party thought they had the Tide Pod eating Millennials vote in the Zip Lock, childproof bag, BOOM. Out comes the goll dangdest survey, with “NOT SO FAST, Donkey” written all over it.

As one might expect, the Dems’ close allies in the media hit the alert button with the announcement:

MANCHESTER, N.H. (Reuters) – Enthusiasm for the Democratic Party is waning among millennials as its candidates head into the crucial midterm congressional elections, according to the Reuters/Ipsos national opinion poll.

What on Earth could be causing this seismic shift within the liberal universe? Is nothing sacred anymore? What do these entitled children  important voices of the next generation have to tell the Democrats?

If you start digging into the survey results, you dang near work up a snicker. Let’s take a look at, oh, say, how the youngsters responded vis-à-vis tax cuts and the economy.

 And they increasingly say the Republican Party is a better steward of the economy.

…Terry Hood, 34, an African-American who works at a Dollar General store in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and took this year’s poll, said he voted for Democrat Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election.

But he will consider a Republican for Congress because he believes the party is making it easier to find jobs and he applauds the recent Republican-led tax cut.

“It sounds strange to me to say this about the Republicans, but they’re helping with even the small things,” Hood said in a phone interview. “They’re taking less taxes out of my paycheck. I notice that.”

Terry notices MORE MONEY! And he has noticed the Republican tax cuts – which not a single Democrat voted for – are letting him keep MORE of his own MONEY.

What do the Democrats have to offer Terry in answer?

As soon as Democrats retake the House in November, Democratic Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi told a town hall meeting Wednesday that the first priority is repealing and “replacing” the GOP tax cut package that passed last December.

Lemme keep score here. More money in Terry’s pocket, more jobs in general, a growing economy…

I wonder if Terry has noticed? SURVEY SAYS: Probably has.

Some respondents voiced support for the Republican tax legislation and the party’s messaging on jobs, which they said have made a material difference in their lives under a GOP-controlled Congress.

What else is happening in this poll that Democrats should be wary of…if they had any sense of self at all?

Oh, never mind. It’s just “white guys”:

“Two years ago, young white people favored Democrats over Republicans for Congress by a margin of 47 to 33 percent; that gap vanished by this year, with 39 percent supporting each party,” the analysis said. “The shift was especially dramatic among young white men, who two years ago favored Democrats but now say they favor Republicans over Democrats by a margin of 46 to 37 percent.

The Counseling and Mental Health Center at the University of Texas at Austin recently launched a new program to help male students “take control over their gender identity and develop a healthy sense of masculinity.”

…Though you might enjoy “taking care of people” or being “active,” MasculinUTwarns that many of these attributes are actually dangerous, claiming that “traditional ideas of masculinity place men into rigid (or restrictive) boxes [which]… prevent them from developing their emotional maturity.”

“If you are a male student at UT reading this right now, we hope that learning about this helps you not to feel guilty about having participated in these definitions of masculinity, and instead feel empowered to break the cycle!” the program offers.

Who WOULDN’T get tired of that? (BTW: They’re hiring a “Healthy Masculinities” program co-ordinator, if anyone’s desperate enough.) The Republicans, for all their faults, will still allow you to be a Tide Pod eating MAN without counselors to berate you for being one. Although we WILL tell you repeatedly you should have known better.

The Millennials are also coming face to face with that great leveler of all humans – AGE. They’re getting older. It’s inevitable. In some of their brains, gears are starting to turn that perhaps didn’t earlier – the gears of common sense, patience and reason. One little tell from every report on the survey is, “They’re easier to convince than, say, your 50- or 60-year-olds who don’t really change their minds very often.” I’m not sure how to take that. Is the expert implying Millennials are easily swayed and that Democrats should use that? I think, when taken in the context of “The findings also suggested millennials were open to third-party candidates — or sitting out the election and not voting at all,” it’s a warning to Democrats that their rock solid hold on this group of freedom fighters is a mirage.  Their generational mercurialities were on full display during the 2016 election. I don’t believe Democrats are reading those tea leaves correctly and they’ll ignore this poll. Bernie engaged them, Hillary enraged them and – for all that they marched and went to rallies – half stayed home when it came time to vote. Clinton and Trump got exactly the same number of college educated white women, and almost the exact same percentage of white males with college degrees in the coveted 18-29 year old demographic.

That shift away by any “white males” in Monday’s results should terrify the DNC. Especially as they are doing NOTHING to pull those people back.
