The Democrat National Convention has been, up until the fourth night, all about how evil Donald Trump is and lying. Lying about Trump’s record and about voter suppression. Fear porn is all they have. Julia Louis-Dreyfuss, the fourth evening’s host, kicked off the night with many horrible jokes, including one that Donald Trump, his family and six of his cabinet members participate in mail in voting. That’s not entirely true.

We can acknowledge that the Wuhan Flu is a dangerous pandemic, while at the same time acknowledging that most of us have adapted. We are masking up before going to Costco and Target. But, Nancy Pelosi declared in May that:

…voting in the United States is “under assault both from a systematic national, nationwide campaign of voter suppression and from the coronavirus” and must be protected with vote-by-mail provisions.

“People should not have to choose between voting and preserving their good health and that of their families,” Pelosi, D-Calif., said during her weekly briefing with reporters in Washington, D.C.. She called on the Senate to pass the House Democrats’ latest stimulus package, dubbed the “HEROES Act.” The $3 trillion coronavirus relief bill includes over $3 billion in funding in election protections.

And, that has become the Democrats latest fear porn. Tales of mailboxes being removed and sorting machines being shut down are used to terrify the herd. Here’s a hint: We all have mailboxes, right at our own homes. I learned that from the Uncle Al Show when I was growing up in Cincinnati. Uncle Al had a song:

I am the mailman I work for Uncle Sam, I bring you letters as fast as I can, how do I know if you have one to send? Put up your flag and I’ll take it to your friend.”

If you don’t have a flag, just slide your mail into your box and the Postal worker will take it before putting your new mail in.

The Democrats have been stoking fear about voter suppression since even before the pandemic. But, they used all four nights of the Convention to amp up that fear, including, last night, with alleged comedian Sarah Cooper:

“Donald Trump will cheat using voter suppression” is a phrase oft-repeated by the folks at the DNC. DNC Chair Tom Perez told Yahoo Finance yesterday:

As President Trump continues to rail against mail-in voting, Democrats are accusing him of trying to undermine confidence in the election. In response, Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez told Yahoo Finance the party is aggressively organizing to help voters cast their ballots.

“We’re using every tool in the toolbox to make sure that people are able to exercise their right to vote,” said Perez. “We’re going to have record turnout, not withstanding their suppression efforts. I have no doubt because people understand that our democracy, as we know it, is on the ballot.”

Lying and stoking fear is the Democrats response to everything these days. They have taken to smearing Postmaster General Louis DeJoy as a Trump uber donor and stooge. Speaker Nancy Pelosi called it an assault:

The assault by President Trump & his mega-donor Postmaster General Louis DeJoy on the Postal Service threatens lives, livelihood & life of our American democracy. I am calling on the House to return to vote on Chairwoman Maloney’s "Delivering for America Act." #DontMessWithUSPS

Louis DeJoy, did not come up through the ranks at the sclerotic Postal Service. DeJoy is a businessman with a career in logistics, as even the New York Times acknowledged:

After graduating from Stetson University with a business degree, Mr. DeJoy planned to pursue a career as a certified public accountant, but instead took over his father’s failing trucking business on Long Island.

Beginning in the 1980s, Mr. DeJoy built the company, which started with just ten employees, into New Breed Logistics, a national logistics and supply-chain services provider based in North Carolina that had contracts with Boeing, Verizon and the Postal Service, among others. By 2014, it had nearly 7,000 employees.

DeJoy will testify today before the Senate Homeland Security Committee. Expect the Democrats to engage in more lying and smearing. It’s all they have got. They can’t be honest about their ideas, so lying is what they will go with.

Voting by absentee ballot or voting in person at your polling place is safe. Mask up and wash your hands.
