Las Vegas Cybertruck Bomber: A PTSD-Driven Suicide, Or More?

As time goes on, we are learning bits and pieces about Matthew Livelsberger, the man who blew up his rented Cybertruck in Las Vegas in front of the Trump hotel.

At this time, the FBI (take their opinion for what it is worth) is saying that the Las Vegas explosion was not a terrorist attack (as was first suspected), but an elaborately constructed suicide by an Army Green Beret who was allegedly suffering from PTSD.

Federal officials suggested Livelsberger had been suffering from PTSD and other personal issues that contributed to his suicide bombing.

“Although this incident is more public and more sensational than usual, it ultimately appears to be a tragic case of suicide involving a heavily decorated combat veteran who was struggling with PTSD and other issues,” FBI Special Agent Spencer Evans said.

The feds also found “strong evidence” that links Livelsberger to a conspiracy-laden manifesto he allegedly penned and emailed to a US Army Intelligence officer ahead of the fatal explosion.

Police said Livelsberger logged his personal and political grievances into his phone about 10 days leading up to the bombing. He also kept a log outlining multiple locations along his route from Colorado to Las Vegas, officials said.

The father of a baby daughter left his Colorado Springs home the day after Christmas following an argument with his wife over apparent infidelity, two sources familiar with the investigation told The Post.

After leaving Colorado, Livelsberger rented a Cybertruck through the Turo app and made his way to Vegas, where he parked in front of the Trump hotel and detonated explosives stashed in the trunk as he shot himself in the head.

There is no evidence at this time that is indicating anything to the contrary in regards to motive. Livelsberger had allegedly just had his marriage fall apart, was texting a former girlfriend asking if she was single and talking about the Cybertruck rental, and his alleged cell phone letter, released by Las Vegas police, reads more like a social media post ranting about all that has gone wrong – right until it says he’s going to commit suicide by bomb.

In the letter, Livelsberger said that the U.S. was “the best country” to ever exist, but that in its current state, it was “terminally ill and headed toward collapse.”

He talked about the decline in traditional values in the letter and warned that political elites view the masses as “cattle.”

He warned that most people had no purpose in life and were “just sitting around waiting to die.”

“No sunlight, no steps, no fresh air, no hope,” he said. “Our children are addicted to screens by the age of two.”

He said that Americans were “too fat to join the military yet we are facing a war with China, Russia, North Korea and Iran before 2030.”

He called for focusing on increasing strength and winning in society and removing those from government who do not like those ideals; ending the war in Ukraine through a negotiated settlement as fast as possible; ending wealth inequality and improving conditions on America’s streets so there were not so many homeless people; and stop obsessing over diversity.

“We are all diverse and DEI is a cancer,” he said. “Thankfully we rejected the DEI candidate and will have a real President instead of Weekend at Bernie’s.”

He said that his decision to detonate the bomb he created was “not a terrorist attack, it was a wake up call.”

“Americans only pay attention to spectacles and violence,” he said. “What better way to get my point across than a stunt with fireworks and explosives?”

He said that he did it because he needed to “cleanse” his “mind of the brothers I’ve lost and relieve myself of the burden of the lives I took.”

He called on Americans to rally around some of the biggest figures in the Republican Party “and ride this wave to the highest hegemony for all Americans!”

Livelsberger said that the U.S. was being led by “weak and feckless” leaders who only care about enriching themselves.

He called for taking action against the individuals in the U.S. government whom he said were ruining the country, warning “they all must go and a hard reset must occur for our country to avoid collapse.”

Given the amount of failure that seems to be piling up for the FBI lately, is it much more convenient and easier for them if the Las Vegas Cybertruck bomb ends up being a suicide spectacle instead of a terrorist attack? Yes. Is it also completely believable that Livelsberger meant exactly everything he wrote and his mental health was spiraling. According to the former girlfriend, the FBI informed her that she was not the only ex that Livelsberger had contacted recently. Was this what his current wife and mother of his baby had discovered, and was the cause of their argument that led to him leaving? If this was an episode of “Mythbusters,” this would have to be rated as “plausible.”

Due to the fact that the only death due to this Cybertruck bomb in Las Vegas was Livelsberger, it’s going to be very easy for the FBI and the public to accept the PTSD and spiraling personal life explanation. Yes, there are a whole lot of open questions regarding all the details, and they will undoubtedly become fodder for multiple X posts and podcasts for a long time to come. Yes, the FBI would much rather wrap up this investigation with a bright shiny PTSD bow on it and call it a day. But sometimes a cake is just a cake. And until there are any other ulterior motives or alternative actors involved, the available evidence points to a very attention-getting, meticulously staged suicide. Also, remember that there is a baby girl in Colorado who will now be growing up in the shadow of her father’s death, who will someday be old enough to Google his name. And that is truly the most tragic and heartbreaking part of this entire story.

I think the PTSD card is over-played. Many, who have reached adulthood, have experienced extremely stressful situations, sometimes more than once, during their lifetime. They have not, thereafter, used this as an excuse for bad behavior. The mental health “professionals”, however, had made a bundle off identifying, diagnosing and treating this ailment which has become a common excuse for bad behavior.

    Very interesting, and scary.

The truly sad part to this is that he’s basically right about so much.
But his solution is the wrong one. We need people like him alive and kicking to fight for all of those needed things.
And, yes, that his daughter will grow up without him is awful. 🙁

If all of this is true, it will at least put to bed all of the “ZOMG! They rented their EV trucks from the same app and were once at a huge military base at the same time!” silliness. At least, one can hope.
