Congress has been waiting for the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) to score the Build Back Better (BBB) Bill. The CBO score came in. The $1.75 trillion dollar bill had been touted by Sleepy, Creepy Joe Biden and San Fran Nancy Pelosi as being “fully paid for”, people who live in Realville know that’s not possible. According to the CBO, the bill will add $367 billion to the deficit. As the House, prepared to vote on BBB last night, GOP Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy took to the floor, and in an impassioned, fact-filled speech, absolutely torched the BBB.
Kevin McCarthy is seen as a RINO by some on the Right. To the Left, he has had a full Trump makeover and is a MAGAt. Six years ago, he aimed at being Speaker of the House. The Corporate Conservatives preferred Paul Ryan, big mistake. The Left sees McCarthy as responsible for the January 6 Capitol riot. The Right sees McCarthy as not supporting President Donald Trump enough. I am not a big McCarthy fan, but he must be doing something right.
I was absolutely gobsmacked to watch McCarthy on the floor of the House spitting mad game. He was en fuego. The Democrats were furious. The Democrats were so furious that they interrupted him time after time. The same Dems who voted to oust Paul Gosar from his committee assignments for posting an unfortunately stupid anime on Twitter mock, razzed and laughed at Kevin McCarthy:
Some Democrats jeered McCarthy and said, “That’s all right. I got all night.”
The group of Democrats responded “so do we,” adding on Build Back Better, ”we’ve been waiting for this a long time.”
Of course, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez opened her gaping pie hole:
NBC News: Earlier during his floor speech, Republican Kevin McCarthy said: "Abigail Spanbgerger said nobody elected Biden to be FDR."
From the back, Rep. @AOC yelled, "I did."@NBCNews

At one point, McCarthy said they were angry because they were hearing what was in the BBB for the first time, and that’s most likely true.
Kevin McCarthy repeated many of the talking points he has used over the last couple weeks. He repeated his true claim from Facebook last week:
Democrats want to hire 87,000 IRS agents to spy on you because they think it will help fund their Socialist Spending Scam. They have such a low opinion of the American public that they think the majority of taxpayers are tax cheats.
Those IRS agents will be looking at bank transfers of $10,000 per year, which as McCarthy pointed out today and in the past is $28.00 per day:
In a press release, McCarthy doubled down on that claim stating, “one of the most egregious things Democrats are trying to do here is hire 87,000 new IRS agents — larger than the population of Scranton, PA, to spy on Americans’ bank accounts. If you make or spend $28 per day, Democrats want the government to access your banking information. This is wrong.”
McCarthy talked emotionally about the $450,000 in the BBB for illegal immigrant families who were separated from their children, while it was determined if they were their children. He noted that this is more than families of those killed on September 11, 2001. He noted that this is more than the families of the 13 heroes killed by the Biden Junta at Kabul Airport on August 26, 2021. He noted that this money for illegals is incentivizing more illegal immigration.
He mentioned Jimmy Carter and the gas crisis of the 1970’s:
Joe Biden’s presidency has often been compared to Jimmy Carter’s presidency.
That comparison is unfair to Jimmy Carter.

Kevin McCarthy even brought up the hypersonic weapons that China is testing. Hypersonic weapons are first strike weapons. There is not money in the BBB for hypersonic weapons. McCarthy quoted twatwaffle Mark Milley as saying this is a Sputnik moment that our children’s children would remember. It’s nice to pretend we live in a world where everyone want to play nice, but we don’t. We need to be on the leading edge of technology.
It made my heart so happy to see Elise Stefanik and Burgess Owens sitting behind McCarthy as he spoke.
Kevin McCarthy began speaking at 8:35 p.m. Eastern Standard Time and as of 11:00 p.m. when Fitbit told me to go to bed he was still speaking. McCarthy’s goal was to keep the Democrats from making their plane to Puerto Rico for a fundraiser. That is so gangster. Go, Kevin, go. Talk all night. Spit that mad game.
***UPDATE***
McCarthy spoke for more than eight hours. He beat the previous record held by Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
Nancy Pelosi is a Lame Duck Speaker.
In her own words—this is “the culmination of her career.” My question for all the other Democrats in Congress: Do you want it to be the culmination of your career too? pic.twitter.com/H22swJIvbO

A Trillion here. A Trillion there.
Pretty soon you’re talking about real Bankruptcy.
“Madam Speaker, this one minute felt like eight hours.”
OK, I like this guy. I have no idea how he could keep talking for that long but I’m impressed.
I wish the media would actually do a little analysis of the CBO summary (available at https://www.cbo.gov/publication/57627). Here’s the deal:
deficit 2022-2031 (10 years) increases by $367 billion
deficit 2022-2026 (first 5 years) increases by $782 billion
deficit 2027-2031 (second years) DECREASES by $415 billion
The deficit decreases by $1,216 billion during the second five years because: (a) the CBO (at the behest of Congress) pretends that the “investment” (read entitlements) in the BBB expire (and hence the spending is not included)–a “benefit” of $246 billion and (b) taxes skyrocket in the second five years (of course, they won’t) for a “benefit” of $970 billion–total “benefit of $1,216 billion during the second five years. A more realistic assessment would be that the $782 billion increase to the deficit during the first five years would repeat itself in the second five years for a total increase to the deficit of $1.6 trillion during the ten year window. I’d wager quite a bit of money that the increase in the deficit for the 10 years will be much closer to $1.6 trillion than to the advertised $367 billion.
This is seventh grade arithmetic. Anyone who would take a few minutes to think about will see that my math is a lot closer to reality than the vaunted “gold standard” CBO.
I understand that the CBO scores the bill as presented to it by the Congress–but they should still be ashamed that they don’t have the courage to publish a number that assumes entitlements stay in place and that taxes not imposed in the first five years will never be collected. Because entitlements seem to have incredible staying power and not even the Democrats like to actually increase taxes (they like to talk about it, but eliminating the SALT limitation proves beyond doubt that they have no interest in “taxing the rich”–let alone the middle class.
Just a quick clarification that the $1,216 billion decrease in the deficit during the second five years is relative to the increase in the deficit during the first 5 years and equals the difference between the $782 billion increase in the deficit during years 1-5 and the $415 billion decrease in the deficit during years 6-10. Sorry!
