Karine Jean-Pierre didn’t plead the Fifth when she talked to the House Oversight Committee, but she did play dumb.
Whether that is an act or not is a question left to the viewers/readers of her testimony. Given her record, and even the acknowledgment by the left that yeah, she wasn’t the brightest bulb in the chandelier, it’s an open question. However, we have seen too many Biden White House staffers play stupid, or be caught in outright lies that they told the public (it’s amazing what comes out when you’re under oath) to be absolutely sure that Karine Jean-Pierre isn’t simply following the same game plan.
The House Oversight Committee recently released video and a transcript from Jean-Pierre’s testimony to them, taken on September 12th of this year. The video is three and a half hours long, so I wouldn’t recommend watching the whole thing unless you are an absolute political junkie, or are having trouble sleeping.
The transcript is a much more “manageable” double-spaced 118 pages. Karine Jean-Pierre acknowledges right off the bat that she has a new book coming out, and it’s clear from how she was talking about her book that she was hoping that it would lead into some kind of media deal.
Q: … Why did you leave the Democrat Party?
A: So I have been a public servant for almost 20 years. I have been part of the Democratic Party since I voted. None of that — in the sense of my support for the Biden-Harris administration, my support for the Democratic Party and its ideology, that has not changed. That is certainly who I am and what I will continue to support as far as the platform. I believe by being an independent I can be much more helpful by being outside of the two-party system and I think that I can get a lot more done. That was my decision.
Q: When you say “be more helpful,” what do you mean by that?
A: Just I think, as someone who had a platform for a long time and has become a notable voice, I feel that I want to have a voice that is my own. And, in that realm, that would be independent.
Q: And as part of the Democrat Party, you didn’t feel that you were able to have a voice that was your own?
A: I think that I spent 20 years working for either a — a principal, if you will, in those 20 years, and so obviously I was working for someone. And I think, now that I am no longer in a public servant role, I feel that that shows, just me not being in a public servant role, that I am an independent voice. And that’s how I see myself moving forward.
Karine Jean-Pierre was obviously hoping for a “talking head” role – maybe not as lucrative as Jen Psaki’s, but enough to enable her to stay on TV and draw a paycheck for having opinions. I can safely say that those dreams have pretty much gone up in smoke after her New Yorker interview about her book, but it is interesting to see her assumptions of future media earnings on full display in this transcript.
The big kicker from her interview, though, was her claim that she never saw any videos of Joe Biden looking like a dementia patient who needed handlers, or witnessed anything like that herself.
Former White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre incredibly claimed she couldn’t recall a single video of former President Joe Biden appearing confused or freezing during her testimony to the House Oversight Committee last month, a newly released video and transcript reveal.
“[W]ere all clips circulated on social media or otherwise showing President Biden being confused or freezing at times, were those all fakes?” Jake Greenberg, chief counsel for the oversight committee, asked Jean-Pierre at one point.
“I can’t speak to every — everything that was on social media,” she responded.
“Sure. But there were instances where videos were circulated of President Biden appearing confused or freezing for a moment that were real, correct?” Greenberg pressed.
“Not that I recall,” Jean-Pierre stunningly responded.
The former Biden spokeswoman argued videos of the then-president looking lost “was not actually what was happening.”
“Did you ever see President Biden appear confused?” Greenberg asked
“No,” Jean-Pierre answered.
Later in the remarkable interview, the former press secretary was asked specifically about Biden’s disastrous June 2024 debate against President Trump, and whether her ex-boss looked “confused” to her at the forum.
“[H]e seemingly, to me, looked like he had a cold,” Jean-Pierre said.
Greenberg shot back: “So, when he said, ‘We finally beat Medicare,’ that’s indicative of a cold to you?”
“I think he was sick,” Jean-Pierre insisted. “I can’t speak to what was — I can’t speak to, like, what he was thinking at the time.
“He said it was a bad night. He said it was a bad performance.”
For those of us who have memories of more than the last year, let us dwell on what Karine Jean-Pierre said in June 2024, when she helped push the term “cheap fakes” to try and blame the media for highlighting multiple instances of Joe Biden being non compos mentis BEFORE the June 27, 2024 debate.
Press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre accused The Post of spreading “misinformation” about videos of the 81-year-old president at recent events with G7 world leaders and former President Barack Obama.
Those events included a Thursday video of Biden being corralled by Italian PM Georgia Meloni after a skydiving demonstration and former President Barack Obama escorting his former VP off the stage at a glitzy Hollywood fundraiser Saturday night.
Jean-Pierre called the clips “cheap fakes”, meaning to claim they were altered by humans through techniques such as zooming in and leaving out context — but also incorrectly called them “deepfakes,” referring to AI-created footage with altered subjects and audio.
“I think you all have called this the ‘cheap fakes’ video and that’s exactly what they are, they are cheap fakes video [sic], and they are done in bad faith,” the press secretary said at her regular briefing.
KJP also claimed that the White House was just parroting what the media was saying, so I guess that means when she was saying they were “cheap fakes,” she never watched the videos in question?

Yeah, that’s a lie. And best as can be found (from very sympathetic leftist sources), the term “cheap fake” was coined in 2019 in academia (differentiating it from a “deepfake” made by AI), and the term popped up during the 2024 election cycle when Karine Jean-Pierre and Biden lackey Andrew Bates introduced it in June at essentially the same time. The media then obediently picked up the term and ran with it.
Karine Jean-Pierre says, in the interview transcript (beginning on page 57), that the binder she carried to each press briefing was full of pre-prepared talking points that the administration staffers and the communications office would compile for her, and then she would just go out to the podium and flip through the binder in order to find answers to the media’s questions. The term “cheap fakes” was in her prepared binder to use as a talking point. And she really doesn’t think she did anything wrong here.
Q: So you don’t think that your characterization of these videos as being cheap fakes may have been misleading to people who are seeing clips from the debate where President Biden, in my opinion, appeared to be confused? You don’t think that that was a confusing statement?
A: I think you’re bringing a bunch of things together. My — I don’t believe that that’s what I was doing, misleading the American people. I was lifting up something that the press themselves talked about and laid out. And we were really just making that clear, as well, to the American people something that the press talked about in those particular moments. And we were speaking about specific videos.
Q: So there were specific videos that you were referring to with “cheap fakes”?
A: There were specific videos that the press was referring to, the cheap fakes, and that’s what we were lifting up.
Q: Did you ever clarify the specific videos that you meant when you called them cheap fakes?
A: I mean, I don’t recall. I mean, I think at the time it was very clear to the press what I was talking about. I don’t think there was confusion in the press room at the time about what we were talking about, because it was all over the news. It was being reported on pretty heavily.
After reading through this interview with the House Oversight Committee and the book interview with The New Yorker, I think it’s pretty safe to say that Karine Jean-Pierre is done. Her status as a “queer black woman” isn’t enough to cover up her sheer incompetence. She may not have had a hand in actually actively covering up Joe Biden’s cognitive and physical decline, but she obediently parroted everything in her binder, and never asked any difficult questions of the administration’s staffers. Her dreams of media relevance and a steady paycheck have floated away. If she could now fade away into obscurity, that would be the best for everyone involved.
