Yesterday at the Jimmy Carter Funeral, the great and the good were on display for all the world to see. We, as a society, believe that you should give people grace at a funeral. Don’t pick them apart. It’s bad manners. Be gracious to everyone. Watching the funeral and writing about it that’s what I tried to do. But today, I saw the video of Karen Pence being unnecessarily nasty to Melania Trump and I am compelled to speak.

Surely, people elected to the highest offices of the land attend etiquette classes. Contrary to popular belief, good manners are not to make others feel bad. Whether you are a guest or the host, your commission at a function is to make everyone around you comfortable. Don’t act a fool. Apparently, if there are such classes, former Second Lady Karen Pence either didn’t pay attention or skipped. She was blatantly and publicly nasty to our incoming President Donald Trump and our beautiful First Lady Melania Trump.

I didn’t want to believe it. At a funeral? Never. Now that I have seen it, I believe it.

It seemed like everyone was saying this because Mrs. Pence did not jump out of her seat as former V.P. Al Gore and her husband, Mike, did. I thought that was appropriate. A Lady is not a jack-in-the-box. Stay seated. Acknowledge the incoming guests and smile.

When I saw this X post this morning, I could not contain myself:

Holy Schnikes! Both Al Gore and Mike Pence nodded and acknowledged Mrs. Trump. But Karen was a total Karen and snubbed Melania. Mrs. Pence couldn’t even look at Mrs. Trump. Outrageous. On the other hand, when George and Laura Bush came in, she stayed in her seat, but had an appropriate smile. Former Second Lady did get out of her seat for Bush. Here is the video:

The Huffington Post seemed to approve of Mrs. Pence’s behavior:

Video shows Trump shaking hands with former Vice President Al Gore and then his own former vice president, Mike Pence. Both men stand to shake Trump’s hand, but Karen Pence remains seated. As Trump pauses in front of Karen Pence, she looks down. Mike Pence and former first lady Melania Trump also shake hands, but Karen Pence appears to avoid Melania Trump, as well.

Michelle Obama stayed on vacation in Hawaii and rearranged her sock drawer because she didn’t think she could behave around Orange Man Bad. That was a far better choice than misbehaving in public. FYI Jessica, it could have been the Feds that made the alleged noose and there is no direct proof that Trump said anything about Pence hanging.

One final thought about Mrs. Pence and Mrs. Trump. Yesterday was the one year anniversary of the death of Mrs. Trump’s beloved Mother. Melania’s sadness was etched on her face. She showed up and was gracious. Mrs. Pence showed no grace, no empathy, no class and NO CHRISTIAN LOVE.

If you are going out in public, people, please use your Company Manners. If you don’t have them, learn them.
