In the wake of the Friday the 13th attacks on the beautiful French capital of Paris, Isis has released a video threatening the greatest city in the world, New York City. Released to the press just yesterday, the video includes a card claiming: “And what’s coming next will be far worse and more bitter”.
The CBS internet news channel reported it this way:
While the New York Post describes the video as a “slick production”, New York City Police Commissioner William Bratton is quoted by Fox News as describing the video as “hastily produced”.
The New York Post describes the video this way:
The slick production includes storefront shots of TGI Fridays in Times Square and the Gap in Herald Square — along with footage of yellow taxi cabs driving past.
The images of New York City are spliced between disturbing clips of suicide bombers preparing for attacks. A fighter also holds a grenade, pulling the trigger as the camera cuts to black.
French President Francois Hollande then appears on screen, giving an address just after the Paris attacks. At the end of his speech, he says, “it’s horrible.”
Fox News quotes Police Commissioner Bratton:
“Be aware, but do not be afraid. The NYPD will protect you,” Bratton said. “We cannot be intimidated, and that’s what terrorists seek to do. They seek to create fear. They seek to intimidate. We will not be intimidated, and we will not live in fear.”
This week begins an important season for New York City tourism. With The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday, the start of the Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular this week and the lighting of the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree on December 2, tourists flood into New York City. There is nothing quite as magical as New York City at Christmas.
Dr. Sebastian Gorka of the Marine Corps University had the these wise words for all of us last night on Fox News with Megyn Kelly:
“Don’t wait for Uncle Sam to protect you” and “Tactical Awareness” are our watchwords for the near future. Be safe everyone.
