Cheerio Chickadees. We haven’t cracked on Ilhan Omar in a while so let us at it. Sad, benighted Ilhan always is in a snit about something. Meltdowns and tantrums are her natural state. Right now, she is cornfused that some people did something are glad that the corruption at the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is being exposed and shut down. Poor girl. Too sad.
It’s hard to believe that Omar was only elected to the U.S. House from Somalia Minnesota in 2019. Seems like she has been around spouting her hateful Israel and Boycott-Divestment-Sanctions rhetoric since our Republic was founded. She only opens her mouth for foul filth to escape. Ilhan is in a snit fit because the USAID/BHA spigot has been slowed to a trickle. BHA is the Bureau of Humanitarian Assistance, a part of the USAID. You can see why so much money was funneled/laundered through that many headed monster. Somalia is one of the top countries receiving funding per Axios:
The big picture: In the 2023 fiscal year, USAID disbursed roughly $44 billion of aid across 160 countries and regions around the world, per the agency’s foreign assistance dashboard.
Ukraine was the top recipient of foreign assistance funds in FY 2023, with over $16 billion issued. Israel received more than $2.2 billion in disbursements, while Ethiopia and Jordan each received over $1 billion.
Other top recipients also included Somalia, Afghanistan, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Omar has been a favorite target of those of us on the Right because she is dismissive of American values and our Constitution. She did mention the Constitution yesterday, as a matter of fact. The Democrats had a public meltdown about USAID:
Representative Ilhan Omar (D-MN) sparked controversy today with a dramatic social media post accusing former President Donald Trump of attempting to establish a dictatorship and warning of a “constitutional crisis.”
Omar’s comments, which come amid heightened political tensions, were quickly dismissed by conservatives as hyperbolic and politically motivated, especially in light of recent revelations about wasteful spending at the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
“We are witnessing a constitutional crisis,” Omar declared. “We talked about Trump wanting to be a dictator on day one, and here we are. This is what the beginning of dictatorship looks like—when you take the Constitution and install yourself as the sole power. That is how dictators are made.”
The condescension and disdain in her voice annoys me:
So she was provided for by USAID while in the refugee camps? Great! Why did we ever let her family in?

Ilhan Omar does not like our police force and says that when people abroad interact with our military they don’t feel good about the U.S.. When they interact with USAID they do feel good. From the Tampa Free Press, let’s see how good we make them feel:
Omar’s remarks followed a bombshell report exposing decades of mismanagement and questionable spending at USAID, including funding for projects like a transgender opera in Colombia, a “DEI musical” in Ireland, and irrigation canals in Afghanistan that inadvertently supported poppy cultivation for the Taliban.
The report also revealed that USAID funds had indirectly benefited designated terrorist organizations and controversial entities, such as EcoHealth Alliance, the group linked to controversial research at the Wuhan lab
Yes, Omar, Congress does have the power of the purse, but they have been very poor stewards of the taxpayers’ hard earned money. This is what led us to elect Donald Trump who told us quite often that he would bring in Elon Musk for DOGE. If you had not allowed the grift to go on, this would not be happening.
Finally, we have never heard of a Dictator making government smaller.

draigh says: “Ilhan Omar Doesn’t Under Our Republic Or Freedom.” This should surprise no one. The only reason she is in Congress is because of the overwhelming Somali vote in her district. Ask her what the 5th Amendment is and make certain she doesn’t have an earbud in her ear. Give her a minute.

That, and that she lied to get into this country and to get her brother in. She shouldn’t even be a citizen, much less a Congressperson.

They lie about the Constitution the same way they lie when using the word “democracy.” They all do it.
But she is a particularly ugly liar, given her violation of her oath to said Constitution (as a “citizen” and asa Congressperson).

I would generally hope not. At least if they’re bad guys (and vast swaths of the folks in Somalia are bad guys – and a bunch of them in the US, too) – we’re there to hurt them and break their toys. I want them crying in their tofu every night when our military is there.

Duh. USAID is on their side. As in, on the bad guys’ side.

Hey, not a dime of that money went to the transgender opera. That was paid for directly by Dept of State.
Which then leads to the question, “So what DID that money pay for, and why is it wrongly labeled in our books? That’s a felony, you know.”

Ummm, NO. They did not do anything “inadvertently.”
Congress does have the power of the purse
Yes, and no. Congress has the power to appropriate funds. They also generally have the power to direct where those funds can be spent. But you can’t stomp your feet about that second bit and then not take total responsibility for each and every expenditure of USAID. Either you directed those moneys to be spent as they were spent (in which case a lot of you need to be in prison), or you left some discretion to the Executive. If you left the discretion to the Executive… well, he’s exercising that discretion. And the courts have said the Executive enjoys complete discretion within the boundaries Congress sets for spending those monies.
(Also, no way in hell you can start talking about the Executive exercising too much power when you pass omnibus appropriations bills that are 11,000 pages long. Every single agency established by Congress in law should have its own spending bill, with explicit line items in it.)
